A temporary speed limit of 10mph is being introduced on Glasgow Road.
South Lanarkshire Council has announced the speed restriction for Nerston Village, East Kilbride, due to repairs being carried out by Scottish Water.
The new limit will be in effect from July 15 to 19, affecting the section of Glasgow Road between Crookedshields Road and East Nerston Grove.
Traffic signs, as prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, will be used to indicate the new speed limit.
The council has utilised powers given by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, to enforce the temporary measure.

Sizewell C has announced overnight closures on the A12 which is set to include a 62-mile diversion. In a letter sent to residents, the power plant announced the works would take place overnight on the major road as well as the A1094 and Kettles Lane in Friday Street. During the temporary closure work will take place as part of the creation of the Friday Street roundabout and involve the installation of a lane guard and drainage crossings on the carriageway. The diversion for the A12 is 62 miles long. (Image: The works are split into three phases with the A12, A1094 and Kettles Lane shutting from August 31 to September 3, between 8pm and 5am. In the second phase, the A1094 and Kettles Lane will shut between September 4 and 7 from 8pm to 5am. Then, for the final phase, Kettles Lane will shut from September to the second quarter of 2026. While the A12 is shut, there will be a 62-mile diversion, which will follow the A1145, A146, A143, A140, A14 and vice versa. The southbound diversion for the A1094 will use the A1152, B1069 and vice versa. The northbound diversion for the A1094 will use the B1069, B1122 and vice versa. Sizewell C has also announced that they will be implementing traffic management at Friday Street to prevent traffic from using Kettles Lane.

North Lanarkshire road to close for more than two months

A busy road in North Lanarkshire is set to shut for more than two months. North Lanarkshire Council has announced the temporary road closure order for Drumcavel Road, Muirhead. The road will be closed from A752 Lochend Road to Avenuehead Road for essential works. This closure will be in effect from 12.01am on Monday, August 11, until 11.59pm on Sunday, October 19. The only vehicles allowed on the road during this time will be those involved in installing electricity services. Access to the full public notice detailing the closure can be found online here: Pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained where possible during the closure, and local access will be maintained to Holms Farm. Alternative routes have been specified via A752 Lochend Road, B804 Johnston Road, Glenboig Road, and Drumcavel Road. The order was made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991. North Lanarkshire Council stated that the closure is necessary due to works being carried out on or near the location.

A new speed limit could soon be in place on a busy stretch of road. North Lanarkshire Council is considering introducing a 40mph speed limit on the B806 Gartloch Road in Gartcosh. The proposed restriction would apply from a point around 380 metres west of the junction with the west kerb line of the A752, extending to the boundary with Glasgow City Council.
