Devotees throng Baba Baidyanath temple as Shravan Mela starts

Deoghar, July 14 (UNI) The State Shravan Mela 2025 in Jharkhand began with great devotion on the first today, as the gates of the revered Baba Baidyanath temple opened at 4:12 am, marking the beginning of water offerings (Jalarpan).
Since midnight, long queues of devotees had formed, stretching from Nandan Pahad to Chamaridih Bridge, approximately 8km. All the kanwariyas (devotees carrying holy water) proceeded in a disciplined line, continuously chanting praises of Lord Shiva.
The entire route echoed with devotional chants as soon as the water offerings began.
On the occasion of the first Monday, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Naman Priyesh Lakra inspected the entire route line of the fair area. He also reviewed preparations at the IMCR Control Room located at Nehru Park, assessing the ground reality of the arrangements made for the Mela.
He issued instructions to deployed police officers on safety measures, ensuring that the control room remains active and functional 24/7 throughout Shravan Mela.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated the various works undertaken for the convenience of devotees in the temple areas. He instructed the officials and police personnel to remain alert and provide courteous service to devotees, ensuring they leave Baba Baidyanath's city, Deoghar, with a pleasant experience.
He also reviewed the barricading, law and order, security, and traffic management.
Accompanied by departmental teams, he visited several key points such as Barmasia, Sarkar Bhawan, B.Ed College, Tiwari Chowk, Shivram Jha Chowk, BN Jha Path Mode, Shivganga Ghat, and Nehru Park, to assess the arrangements made for devotees.

Ranchi, July 25 (UNI) The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) has opened admissions for vacant postgraduate seats for the 2025-26 session. The registration window is active from July 25 to 31. Admission Cell Chairperson Prof. G.P. Singh said 63% seats were filled in the first round. Now, a second phase has been launched for 11 programmes, including (Geoinformatics, Statistics, Geology, Chemistry), M.A. (English, Public Administration, Political Science, Tibetan), M.P.A. (Theatre Arts, Hindustani Vocal) and Applicants must have valid CUET-PG 2025 scores. Registration fees: ₹800 (UR/OBC/EWS), ₹400 (SC/ST), and ₹200 (PwD and all women candidates).
