
India's PDS Ltd reports strong GMV growth, EBITDA down 31% in Q1 FY26
The gross profit for the quarter reached ₹582 crore, up 7 per cent from the previous quarter. Despite the top-line growth, profitability saw a dip. EBITDA declined 31 per cent to ₹51 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) fell 36 per cent to ₹20 crore in Q1 FY26, compared to ₹31 crore in Q4 FY25.
India's PDS Limited has reported a 14 per cent YoY rise in Q1 FY26 revenue to ₹2,999 crore (~$329.89 million), with GMV up 19 per cent QoQ. Despite growth, EBITDA fell 31 per cent and PAT declined 36 per cent. The company remains focused on operational efficiency and long-term growth, supported by an asset-light model, strategic restructuring, and promising cost optimisation measures.
PDS continues to support global brands and retailers with product development, sourcing, manufacturing, and brand management services. The company remains focused on driving operational efficiencies and long-term strategic growth, even as it navigates profitability challenges in a dynamic global retail environment, it said in a press release.
'While Q1 FY26 reflects a dip in profitability owing to macroeconomic headwinds, we remain firmly on track to deliver on our long-term growth vision. PDS's asset-light, demand-responsive model continues to enable scalable solutions across key global markets. The recent India-UK FTA marks a pivotal step toward enhanced trade flows and deeper partnerships, especially given our strong presence in Europe and the UK,' said Pallak Seth, executive vice chairman at PDS Limited . 'At the same time, the US tariff landscape remains uncertain and requires stabilization to provide greater visibility. As the macro environment stabilizes and our verticals mature, we remain confident in achieving our vision.'

US-based Electric vehicle giant Tesla is preparing to open its second showroom in India—this time in the national capital. After launching in Mumbai, the company has chosen Delhi's Aerocity, a high-end commercial area near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, for its next location. According to a report by CNBC-TV18, the new showroom is scheduled to open on August 11. This move comes shortly after Tesla introduced its Model Y in India. On the same day, Tesla also activated its official India website, which initially allowed users to register interest only from Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram. First showroom in Mumbai's BKC Tesla's entry into the Indian market began with the opening of its first showroom in Maker Maxity Mall, located in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Two versions of the Model Y, imported from Tesla's Shanghai plant, are currently being showcased there. Customers opting for the long-range version can expect to receive their vehicles in the fourth quarter. Tesla Model Y: Variants & prices Tesla has officially introduced two variants of the Model Y in India: a rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and a long-range RWD variant. The base RWD model is priced at ₹59.89 lakh, while the long-range version comes in at ₹67.89 lakh. Including additional costs, the on-road price of the RWD model is ₹61.07 lakh, whereas the long-range variant reaches ₹69.15 lakh. Buyers of the rear-wheel-drive Model Y can choose between two battery pack sizes — 60 kWh and 75 kWh. This version features a single electric motor, delivering around 295 horsepower. The 60 kWh battery offers an estimated WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Meanwhile, the long-range version is expected to deliver a higher range of approximately 622 km.

Dr Ramana noted that the run is more than a fitness activity. 'It marks a symbolic beginning of a year-long celebration of NMPA's journey from 1 lakh tonnes of cargo in 1974 to over 46 million tonnes today. We aim to cross 50 million tonnes by FY 2025–26, and a projected PAT of ₹550 crore,' he said. The Chairman reaffirmed NMPA's commitment to inclusive growth, highlighting its role in supporting industries such as MRPL and MCF. The event was organised by Sports Reconnect and is expected to attract participants from across Karnataka.

The uber-rich includes Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNI), High Net Worth Individuals (HNI), and the affluent class. As per the report, India's wealthiest own around $2.7 trillion in serviceable assets, while approximately 60 per cent of wealth is still parked in real estate and gold. India's total household assets are valued at $19.6 trillion, of which 59 per cent or $11.6 trillion is held by the uber-rich. About 60 per cent of the wealth possessed by India's uber-rich is held in physical assets such as real estate and gold. However, they own 60 per cent of the total assets and 70 per cent of the financial assets of the country. About $8.9 trillion owned by India's wealthiest is in the form of non-serviceable assets such as physical real estate, gold, promoter equity, and currency assets. These are traditionally not managed by wealth managers or are harder to reallocate. Just $2.7 trillion of the wealth owned by India's richest is held in serviceable financial assets like direct equity, mutual funds, insurance, and bank or government deposits, as per Bernstein. India's uber-rich There are around 35,000 Ultra High Net Worth Individuals in India with a net worth of more than $12 million. The average income of these uber-rich households is $4.8 million, and they have average assets of $54 million, including $24 million in financial assets. The firm also mentioned that there is a growing opportunity for Indian wealth managers, particularly in providing services to the country's ultra-wealthy households. 'With rising return expectations and product complexity, demand for professional advice is growing. We see specialised wealth managers benefiting, with a long growth runway. We expect specialised wealth managers to expand from $300 billion in assets under management (11 per cent share) to $1.6 trillion over the next decade, implying an 18 per cent+ CAGR,' said Bernstein. India's wealth disparity According to the report, while income disparity in India is notable, wealth disparity is even more prominent. The top one per cent earns 40 per cent of all income, while the rest hold a small portion of both income and assets. As per a study, the income inequality in India is among the highest in the world, even starker than the United States, Brazil, and South Africa. 'Although growth will continue to create opportunities across the pyramid, we think the rich will get richer. India's uber-rich – an estimated nearly three million households – hold $2.7 trillion in liquid financial wealth, by our estimates,' said Bernstein.
