Abu Dhabi-based Multiply Group has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Spanish clothing giant Tendam for AED 5.6 billion ($ 1.5 billion), marking its big entry into the European market.
The acquisition of 67.91% interest, which is seen to significantly boost the UAE-listed company's operational EBITDA, also marks the investment holding firm's foray into the international retail and clothing space.
'This acquisition marks Multiply Group's strategic entry into the retail and apparel sector,' said Samia Bouazza, Group CEO and Managing Director of Multiply Group.
'By securing a controlling interest in a leading omnichannel platform, we are investing in a future-focused, high-performing business model.'
As part of the plan, Tendam will become a platform business under Multiply's new retail & apparel unit, further strengthening its footprint in industries that are consumer-focused.
With more than 1,800 points of sale and presence in more than 80 markets, including Spain, Portugal, France, the UAE and Latin America, Tendam is Spain's second-largest apparel group by market share. It is also one of the top omnichannel clothing groups in Europe.
At the end of the second quarter of the year, Tendam reported that its sales for the past one year had reached €1.4 billion ($1.5 billion).

Towards an Inclusive Social Strategy: 70 representatives from 27 entities co-design Dubai's Social Sector Strategy 2025–2033

In a strategic step reflecting Dubai's commitment to collaborative governance, the Community Development Authority (CDA) hosted a wide-scale co-design workshop that brought together around 70 representatives from 27 local and federal government entities to contribute to shaping the future vision of Dubai's Social Sector Strategy 2025–2033. The session featured interactive dialogues and technical discussions, during which participants shared valuable insights and field-based expertise, enriching the strategy's outputs and ensuring their alignment with the real needs of the community. This workshop marks the first phase of a three-stage strategy development process taking place throughout July and August. The initiative aligns with the objectives of Dubai Social Agenda 33, Dubai Plan 2033, and the 'We the UAE 2031' vision, reinforcing Dubai's mission to place human wellbeing at the heart of every development effort. Human-Centric Strategic Outcomes The upcoming strategy is built around tangible outcomes focused on the individual, the family, and the wider community: • Personal Wellbeing: Enhancing the psychological and social health of individuals • Family Cohesion: Strengthening the nurturing and supportive role of families • Community Belonging: Empowering every individual to participate and contribute meaningfully to society The strategy also places strong emphasis on leveraging technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence to reimagine the delivery of social services—enabling faster, more precise responses to societal needs and enhancing the overall user experience. A Renewed Vision for a Resilient and Cohesive Society Building on past achievements, the strategy aims to expand its reach and impact through: • Strengthening societal resilience, empowering families to adapt to emerging challenges • Transitioning from traditional care models to social investment that values community contribution and ensures sustainability • Reinforcing national identity and belonging, particularly amid digital and social transformations • Addressing cost-of-living pressures for low- and middle-income families Collective Commitment to a Sustainable Social Future Speaking at the workshop, Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, highlighted the importance of inclusive participation in building Dubai's social future: 'Shaping the future of the social sector is not achieved through decisions alone—it requires dialogue, participation, integration, and the courage to ask difficult questions. This strategy is more than just a working document; it is a sincere call to renew our commitment to people and society, and to pursue development pathways that are more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable.' Her Excellency added that adopting a co-design approach reflects the Authority's belief that lasting solutions come from within—from ordinary citizens, practitioners, and experts alike. She praised the active role of participating entities in proposing innovative ideas that meet the aspirations of today's community and tomorrow's generations. A Co-Created Strategic Roadmap The development process consists of three main phases: 1. Situational analysis and future foresight 2. Designing key pillars, initiatives, and performance indicators 3. Building an integrated implementation plan and roadmap Each phase will include direct engagement with stakeholders through technical workshops, interviews, and field visits to ensure the development of a practical and actionable strategy with measurable impact on individuals, families, and communities. The CDA affirmed that the strategy represents a long-term commitment to human wellbeing and reinforces Dubai's global position as a model for building cohesive, inclusive, and future-ready societies.

395 million Riders Used Public Transport, Shared Mobility and Taxis in H1 2025

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that public transport modes — including Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, and marine transport — along with taxis and shared mobility options such as app-based vehicles, hourly rentals, and on-demand buses, served approximately 395.3 million riders in the first half of 2025. This represents a 9% increase compared to around 361.2 million riders during the same period in 2024. Average daily ridership reached nearly 2.18 million, up from approximately 1.98 million in the first half of 2024. His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said: 'The continued growth in public transport ridership reflects users' confidence in the system's efficiency and the quality of services provided across all modes. We remain committed to delivering safe, comfortable, and sustainable mobility solutions for every segment of society.' He added: 'Dubai's public transport network has undergone a major transformation, driven by advanced infrastructure and a diverse range of transit options that now form the backbone of mobility for residents and visitors across the emirate. As a result, the share of journeys using public transport and shared mobility has increased from 6% in 2006 to 21.6% in 2024.' 'We are moving forward with a clear vision to make public transport the preferred choice for daily commuting by smartly expanding transport lines and networks, strengthening connectivity between stations and key destinations, and offering flexible, inclusive mobility solutions,' Al Tayer revealed. 'The Construction of Dubai Metro Blue Line is currently underway. Spanning 30 kilometres and comprising 14 stations, the line will serve nine key districts with a combined estimated population of one million residents, in alignment with the Dubai 2040 Urban Plan.' Al Tayer continued: 'Earlier, RTA signed four agreements to procure 637 multi-sized buses compliant with the European low-emission standard 'Euro 6,' including 40 electric buses — the largest and first fleet of its kind in the UAE. The buses will be delivered in 2025 and 2026 and will support the geographic expansion of the public bus network across the emirate. They also align with our strategic objective to convert the entire public bus fleet to electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles by 2050. This month, we completed the development of 16 bus passenger stations and six depots, as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of services provided to all users.' Al Tayer explained that Dubai Metro and taxis recorded the highest share of ridership in the first half of this year, with the Metro accounting for 36.5% and taxis for 26%. Public buses made up 24% of the total. He noted that May registered the highest monthly ridership, reaching 68.8 million, while figures for the other months ranged between 61 and 68 million. 'There was a 9% increase in ridership during the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2024, a key indicator of the recovery in economic activity across the emirate of Dubai, as well as the effectiveness of the RTA's strategies and initiatives to encourage both residents and visitors to use public transport and to offer diverse mobility options throughout the city,' he said. 'Dubai's public transport network, with all components operating in full integration, serves as the backbone of mobility across the emirate. It has succeeded in fostering a positive shift in public attitudes toward mass transit across all segments of society,' he added. Metro Stations The number of Dubai Metro users across both the Red and Green Lines reached approximately 143.9 million riders during the first half of 2025. BurJuman and Al Rigga stations recorded the highest ridership volumes, with BurJuman Station (serving both the Red and Green Lines) registering 8.6 million riders, followed by Al Rigga Station with 6.8 million. Union Station (also serving both lines) came next with 6.6 million riders. On the Red Line, Mall of the Emirates Station recorded the highest ridership after Al Rigga, with 5.6 million riders, followed by Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station with 5.4 million, and Business Bay Station with 5.3 million. On the Green Line, Sharaf DG Station ranked first in ridership, with 5.1 million riders, followed by Baniyas Station with 4.1 million, and Stadium Station with approximately 3.6 million. Dubai Tram transported 4.9 million riders during the first half of this year, while public buses carried 95.7 million riders. The total number of users of all marine transport modes reached 9.7 million. Shared mobility services, including app-based vehicles, hourly rentals, and on-demand buses, served 37.6 million riders. Meanwhile, taxi services in Dubai transported 103.5 million riders during the first half of the year. Integrated Network RTA's strategic and operational plans are founded on the principle of integration across all tiers of public transport and shared mobility, aiming to ensure seamless and efficient movement throughout the emirate. These plans include the development and expansion of road networks and the public transport system in all its components, including the metro, tram, buses, marine transport, first and last-mile solutions, and shared mobility, as well as the enhancement of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure and the connectivity between them. They also involve the advancement of smart traffic and transport systems to optimise the efficiency and utilisation of roads and public transport, alongside the implementation of policies that encourage the public to reduce reliance on private vehicles and shift towards alternative transport options, including public and shared mobility. These efforts are designed to continuously strengthen the role of public transport within the wider mobility ecosystem and support the Authority's strategic objectives to raise the share of trips made using public transport and shared mobility to 25% by 2030.

Brokers cement their role in Dubai's real estate market, contributing to over 42,000 transactions

Dubai's real estate brokerage sector recorded a remarkable performance in the first half of this year, reaffirming the pivotal role of brokers in driving market dynamism and supporting sustainable growth in property transactions. Real estate brokers contributed to the execution of 42,181 transactions, generating commission values exceeding AED3.23 billion in H1 2025, compared to AED1.62 billion in the same period in 2024, achieving a growth of 99%. This increase in transaction volume is closely tied to the growing number of real estate brokers registered with the Dubai Land Department, which now stands at 29,577 brokers, including 6,714 new brokers who entered the sector in the first half of 2025. This momentum reflects the growing confidence in the profession and its rising role as a key partner in enhancing the attractiveness of real estate investment and guiding investors towards high-potential opportunities. Growing role for women Female participation in the real estate brokerage sector has increased significantly, with 10,100 women now actively working as brokers in the field. They contributed to the execution of 13,424 transactions, generating commission values of nearly AED1.43 billion. This reflects the growing influence of women in leading real estate deals, their ability to build strong professional relationships, and their impact on the market's overall dynamism. Beyond transactions The role of real estate brokers extended beyond facilitating transactions; they served as a vital link between investors, developers, and buyers, contributing to enhanced transparency and enabling more informed decision-making. Brokerage and property valuation firms also played a key role in supporting market demand by providing integrated services. As of the first half of 2025, there were 1,223 registered brokerage offices and 78 property valuation offices employing 118 licensed valuers. Contribution of Real Estate Registrations and Services Trustees Offices On their part, the 2,426 registered real estate services offices continued to play a pivotal role in the sector. During the first half of the year, Real Estate Registrations and Services Trustees Offices facilitated 114,848 transactions, serving 86,398 customers, marking a 15% increase in the number of customers compared to the same period last year. The outstanding performance of the brokerage and valuation sector is one of the key pillars of Dubai's real estate market, reflecting the emirate's vision of fostering an investment environment built on public-private partnerships. By facilitating transactions and deals, professional brokers continue to reinforce investor confidence and contribute to enhancing Dubai's position as a leading global real estate investment destination.
