Rihanna gives update on elusive R9 album after pregnancy bombshell
Rihanna has insisted her new album won't be delayed too much by her pregnancy.
The 37-year-old pop star - who is expecting her third child with her partner A$AP Rocky - confirmed the happy news at the Met Gala on Monday (05.05.25), and some fans were wondering if it will impact her long awaited record.
Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight', the 'Umbrella' hitmaker was asked if the album - which has been dubbed 'R9' - will be "put on pause even longer", she said: "No, maybe a couple of videos."
Fans have been waiting nine years for the collection, but RiRi hinted plans are still in place.
She quipped: "I can sing!"
Rihanna - who already has sons RZA, two, and Riot, 21 months, with Rocky - also revealed she isn't "too overwhelmed" by her pregnancy, although there was some initial shock.
She added: "I'm good! I'm shockingly feeling ok, and not too overwhelmed at the moment. At first it was kinda like, 'Ahhh!' "
In the meantime, fans are still waiting for the follow-up to 2016's 'Anti'.
While details are few and far between, in February she offered a tease of what fans can expect from the album.
She told Harper's BAZAAR magazine: "I've been in the studio the whole eight years. But it didn't hit me. I was searching for it.
"I went through phases of what I wanted to do. 'This kind of album, not that album'. I know it's not going to be anything that anybody expects.
'And it's not going to be commercial or radio, digestible. It's going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I've finally cracked it, girl!'
Rihanna insisted there was "no genre" for the album, and she has been determined to make the next batch of songs something "matching [her] evolution".
She added: "After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears.
"It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait.
"I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.'

Miley Cyrus reveals if she will ever launch a makeup line
Miley Cyrus doesn't think she will ever launch a makeup line. The 32-year-old pop superstar is unlikely to ever follow in the footsteps of A-Listers such as Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner by creating a cosmetics brand simply because she is not "passionate" about it in the way she is about music. She told the New York Times: "I was talking to my stepdad and he was like 'Why are you the only celebrity without a makeup line?' and I said 'Because I'm not passionate about it'. And he 'That's the right answer.'" In fact, when the 'Easy Lover' hitmaker - who has just released her ninth studio album 'Something Beautiful' - doesn't even wear make-up when she is at home and insisted that her own "persona" is very different to how the public sees her. She said: "I don't think it's so much of a conscious choice. My persona or the public's idea of me is on in some way but in my own time, I am very off. "I like no makeup, my hair up messy. I don't even look in the mirror in my own time. " Miley found global fame as a teenager when she was cast in the title role of 'Hannah Montana' - which followed the adventures of a schoolgirl who led a double life as a world-famous pop star - and thinks that she was "programmed" by the concept of the hit Disney Channel sitcom to always think of herself as two different people in and out of the spotlight. She said: "I like doing my two worlds. Maybe it's something subconsciously from the show. From 'Hannah Montana', where I think my famous person has one life, and then as a regular person, I have another life. "I think subconsciously it programmed me - not even joking - to think that who I am at home and who I am as a performer are two separate identities, and actually they are. "It's definitely a superhero cape, but it's drag!"

Angry Karen complains about Target axing its Pride Month merch
Sky News host Rita Panahi reacts to a Karen 'whining' about Target getting rid of its LGBTQI display and replacing it with a pro-American one. The woman posted a video to social media, complaining that Target axed its Pride Month section in favour of pro-USA merchandise – claiming the retailer has gone 'anti-DEI'. 'God forbid anyone should have pride in their country,' Ms Panahi said. 'I'm sure your granddad risked his life so Target could sell breast binders to young girls.'

Nike Jumps on the #BootsOnlySummer Trend With Cryoshot Cleat-Sneaker Hybrid

Learn more. For more information on how we test products, click here. Sneaker loafers (snoafers) are so yesterday. We're embracing the #BootsOnlySummer by swapping out our sneakers for a pair of football boots, and Nike has delivered in a big way with the release of their new Cryoshot cleat-sneaker hybrid that adds a translucent shell around the studs. Based on one of the most famous football boots of all time—Ronaldo's Nike Mercurial (1998) R9—the new Nike Cryoshot doesn't have an official release date yet, but has been teased here in two styles. The Nike Cryoshot in White is based on a version of the Nike Tiempo Legend VII R10 Elite FG, which was made popular by Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the one that has fans (and us) excited is the Cryoshot in Silver, Neon, and Blue, based on the football boot that changed the game forever, Ronaldo's Nike Mercurial R9 from 1998. More details about the cleat sneakers will be released shortly, so check back here to see when we have a release date and price. Now, let's take a closer look! Nike Cryoshot | Image: Supplied / Nike Nike hasn't shared a detailed press release for the new Cryoshot, but has stated that the shoe takes inspiration 'from the desire to honour and preserve Nike Football nostalgia and fast-forward it to the future.' What that seems to mean is a retro line of their greatest football cleats in sneaker form. While the #BootsOnlySummer trend sees fans swap out their sneakers for a pair of football cleats, the Nike Cryoshot goes one step further to address the issue of wearing studded boots off the grass. These Cryshot silhouettes have a translucent shell around the studs, which aids with wearability, grip, and comfort, but also gives the illusion that you're wearing boots off the pitch. We don't know when the Nike Cryoshot is releasing just yet, but expect a release date shortly. Nike will want to release the shoe before the sneaker-cleat hybrid trend ends!
