Overnight closures for Humber Bridge toll upgrade

Yahoo4 days ago

Overnight tag lane closures are scheduled on the Humber Bridge as the project enters phase two of its toll system upgrade.
The New Tolling System (NTS) will see booths removed for the first time in the bridge's 44-year history, with payments being made through a website or app.
Work on the scheme began in March and the first phase of civil engineering works have now been completed.
The next phase involved installing a new gantry, meaning overnight tag lane closures will be in place from 20:00 BST on Thursday until 05:00 BST on Friday.
During the works, motorists would still be able to cross the bridge in either direction, with or without a HumberTag, but only using the toll booth lanes, a Humber Bridge spokesperson said.
They advised drivers to allow for extra time for their journey during these hours.
The scheme is expected to launch in late Autumn.

Whilst it is the club's 55th title in their history and fourth in a row, they will not receive a guard of honour from Rangers before kick-off. The decision could add spice to a fixture that has very little riding on it, aside from the usual bragging rights. Rangers have won the last two Old Firm derby meetings - including a 3-0 success at Ibrox at the beginning of the year - but go into this meeting in poor form as they are without a victory in their last five games across all competitions. Teen airlifted to hospital after falling into water

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after falling into the water at a North Yorkshire beauty spot. Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it was called to the incident at Richmond Falls, near Richmond, at 16:41 BST. Two air ambulances attended the scene and the male casualty was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough at about 18:00, an ambulance service spokesperson confirmed. They did not provide an update on his condition. A series of rocky steps along the River Swale make up what is known as Richmond Falls, a popular spot with walkers and swimmers. The incident comes after a schoolgirl died after falling into a reservoir in Ripponden, West Yorkshire on Wednesday. On Saturday emergency services recovered the body of a girl who had entered the River Thames in Gravesend, Kent along with a boy on Friday. The boy was taken to hospital, where he remained in a stable condition as of Saturday afternoon.
