Washington was slated to play a significant role for the Ravens this season. He will likely be put on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Baltimore drafted some depth at that position, drafting Malaki Starks in the first round of the April draft.
With Washington out now, Starks will play a massive role for the Ravens' defense. Baltimore endured a ton of changes last year, but they were still an elite group against the run. They ranked first in that category, allowing just 80.1 yards per game,
On top of that, they also showed improvement in covering tight ends and experienced a significant defensive turnaround. Washington did his part as he was exceptional, particularly in coverage.
Last month, Washington signed a one-year, $3.2 million restricted free agent tender. He started the final 12 games for the club, including the two playoff games. His presence next to Kyle Hamilton helped turn Baltimore's defense into one of he best.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta had high praise for Washington after their season came to an end in January.
"Ar'Darius is a great example of a guy who got a chance and ran with it," DeCosta said. "This year, he stayed healthy, and he became that guy that we saw in college. He's tough, physical, a playmaker, instinctive, smart, a leader.
"He's a great story. Just another one of these undrafted guys over the years that we've had that has developed into being a really good football player."
Washington is a former Horned Frog of TCU. He stands at 5-foot-8 and has battled injuries to start his career. His 2024 season was the healthiest he had been in a while; however, that won't be the case in 2025.

Commanders Defense Got 'Bigger and Stronger' in 2025
Commanders Defense Got 'Bigger and Stronger' in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. During the 2025 offseason, the Washington Commanders made several high-profile additions to their offense. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and left tackle Laremy Tunsil stole the show as the biggest acquisitions of the offseason. Advertisement But … Washington made some shrewd moves on the defensive end as well. And those moves have led defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. to believe the unit has gotten better than last year's mark. 'We're really excited about the guys that we added," Whitt said. "We wanted to get bigger and longer. We definitely did that up front. We did in the back end also with [CB] Trey [Amos]. "So, the vision of how we want to play and how we want to be and how we want to look, you're seeing more of it right now from a size and length and speed standpoint.' Washington did lose free agents like safety Jeremy Chinn and edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. Both players were important to Washington's turnaround last season on the defensive end. Advertisement But with another year in their system, Washington is hoping the current group will get even better. They drafted Amos with their second-round pick and signed Javon Kinlaw, Deatrich Wise Jr., and Will Harris to free agent contracts. These moves may not stick out quite like the Samuel or Tunsil trades, but they are important for the team in 2025. And if this all works out … each addition on the defensive end may end up helping Washington reach the Super Bowl for the first time in decades. Nationals make quick work of Rangers on a night for bounce-back pitchers
Friday night's Nationals-Rangers game matched a pair of pitchers making the most of new situations on different teams. Washington's Michael Soroka and Texas's Patrick Corbin didn't waste any time showing how much they have benefited from their new surroundings. Both shined in a 2-0 Washington victory that was completed in a tidy 1 hour, 50 minutes — matching the mark for the fastest game in club history. Soroka shined just a little bit more.
