Traffic stoppage for Stalin's convoy causes Anna Salai jam
Police said that unlike the usual practice where his vehicle moves with other traffic, this time all vehicles were stopped nearly 10 minutes ahead of the convoy's arrival around 10.20am. Stalin was heading to Tondiarpet to inaugurate the Thayumanavar scheme, via Cathedral Road. The stoppage brought vehicles near Anna flyover to a standstill, leading to a spillover jam across the arterial stretch. Police said that only a handful of traffic cops were on the ground as senior officers were away at a meeting.
The chaos continued well into the afternoon, with traffic between Arivalayam and Cenotaph Road crawling for over 30 minutes. Despite heavy congestion, vehicles from bylanes and Eldams Road continued merging onto Anna Salai unchecked. "Some motorists were waiting to take a U-turn near Anbagam towards Pondy Bazaar or Gemini. Had police removed the barricades at Eldams Road-Anna Salai junction and manually directed vehicles, it would have helped," said K Arumugam, a motorist.

Under the clause, it prohibits IPs and their relatives from acquiring assets of a debtor during liquidation or bankruptcy process unless it is shown that there was no impairment of objectivity, independence or impartiality, and the board's approval has been obtained in the matter. However, the board noted that similar prohibitions are explicitly laid out in the IBBI's Liquidation Process rules, and the Bankruptcy Process for Personal Guarantors to Corporate Debtors norms. "It is proposed that to avoid duplication and for promoting harmonisation within the Regulations, Clause 6 be deleted from the Code of Conduct for Insolvency Professionals," the IBBI said. Removing the clause from the Code of Conduct would avoid potential duplication and redundancy, and also ensure that specific prohibitions are primarily housed within the rules that govern the procedural aspects of asset realisation, it added.
