Jumia Marks 13 Years in Egypt
Jumia, Egypt's leading e-commerce platform, has officially launched its 13th Anniversary Campaign, marking over a decade of serving millions of customers with a shopping experience rooted in value, convenience, and trust.
Since its launch in Egypt in 2012, Jumia has played a central role in shaping the country's e-commerce landscape.
By connecting millions of customers to a wide range of products and sellers, the platform has opened new commercial channels for local businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Jumia's continuous investment in digital infrastructure, logistics, and fintech solutions has accelerated financial inclusion and expanded access to online payments, creating a more connected, efficient, and accessible retail ecosystem across the nation.
The campaign, running from May 12 to June 1, is tagged '13 years of trust, savings, and the stories we lived together.' Leading brands such as Adidas, Samsung, LC Waikiki, AEO, and GlaxoSmithKline are participating through exclusive offers and curated product selections.

It also reflects a renewed commitment to expanding access to digital commerce through stronger partnerships with brands, financial institutions, and government stakeholders. This year's celebration offers customers up to 80% off across multiple categories including fashion, electronics, appliances, accessories, beauty, and home décor. The campaign is structured around key thematic phases designed to meet customer needs, featuring daily surprises, exclusive deals, and deep category-specific discounts.
Peak campaign days include May 12, 19, and 26, with WOW deals, 13% discount coupons every Monday, and an upgraded Wheel of Fortune offering larger prizes. Customers can also access Super Flash Sales from Sunday to Thursday at 2 PM, along with Brand Days, Weekend Offers, and a final day on June 1 as the campaign concludes.
To facilitate a seamless shopping experience, Jumia is providing flexible installment plans – 0% interest, no down payment, and no admin fees, for up to 12 months. These are available through partnerships with National Bank of Egypt, Aman, Souhoola, Contact Now, and Forsa, for purchases starting at EGP 500.
Over the past 13 years, Jumia has also been a key growth partner for thousands of Egyptian sellers, providing training, marketing tools, and flexible payment facilities to help them scale. CBE Deputy Governor attends ceremony appointing DPI as new manager of ‘Nclude'
As part of ongoing efforts to support fintech innovation, drive digital transformation, and advance financial inclusion in line with international best practices, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has approved a request from key limited partners of the 'Nclude' fintech fund to appoint Development Partners International (DPI) as its new fund manager. Rami Aboulnaga, Deputy Governor of the CBE, witnessed the official signing ceremony marking the fund's transition to DPI management. This strategic step aims to attract greater foreign investment into Egypt's fintech sector and supports the fund's ambition to become the largest fintech-focused investment fund in the region, with a target capital of $150m. The Nclude fund has already demonstrated a significant multiplier effect, with every $1 invested by the fund helping to attract an additional $5 in foreign capital to startups operating in the Egyptian market. Commenting on the development, Deputy Governor Rami Aboulnaga said: 'The participation of Egyptian banks in the Nclude Fund underscores the banking sector's strong commitment to embracing emerging fintech trends and staying aligned with global developments. This fund plays a vital role in providing fintech entrepreneurs with the supportive environment they need to launch innovative solutions in Egypt and contributes meaningfully to achieving our targeted financial inclusion goals.' The fund's launch was initially backed by some of Egypt's leading financial institutions—including Banque Misr, the National Bank of Egypt, and Banque du Caire—as well as institutional investors such as the Egyptian Banks Company for Technological Advancement (EBC), e-Finance Investment Group, and Mastercard. This initiative complements the CBE's broader strategy to expand access to funding for fintech startups, a cornerstone of its fintech and innovation strategy. Beyond financial support, Nclude also plays a critical role in nurturing young talent and directing investment towards both local and international fintech and fintech-enabled startups looking to establish operations in Egypt. Prime Minister inspects Maghrabi Agriculture in Beheira
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly toured the facilities of Maghrabi Agriculture Company (MAFA) in Beheira, accompanied by Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk, and Beheira Governor Jacqueline Azar. The Saturday visit reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting agricultural projects within the framework of Egypt's 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy. During the tour, the Prime Minister inspected key facilities at MAFA, including IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) plants, cold storage units, quality control laboratories, pest management labs, and several farming stations. MAFA is a leading exporter of agricultural products, supplying 70 international markets across the European Union, East Asia, and the Americas. The company exports approximately 153,000 tonnes annually of citrus, grapes, strawberries, lettuce, and dates, making it a vital contributor to Egypt's foreign currency reserves. Sherif El Maghrabi, Chairperson of MAFA, explained that the company's IQF1 facility produces 65 tonnes per day and employs over 150 workers. A second facility under construction is expected to increase daily production capacity by 80 tonnes and create more than 200 new jobs. The company's cold storage complex, currently in its first operational phase, includes rapid cooling rooms and a storage capacity for 4,000 pallets. One of the highlights of the visit was the biological pest control laboratory. Ashraf El-Arnaouti of Cairo University presented the lab's efforts to breed beneficial insects that target harmful pests. A key innovation includes a mobile application that detects red palm weevil infestations in real time, enabling targeted interventions that preserve crop quality. El Maghrabi noted that such biological control technologies, which previously cost Egypt €17m in annual imports, are now being developed locally, significantly reducing costs while relying on Egyptian expertise. The Prime Minister also visited the grape packaging station to observe the full value chain in action. El Maghrabi detailed the company's use of advanced desalination technology for irrigation and its expansion across 9,126 feddans in Nubariya, El Bustan, Tamboul, and Minya. Crops include citrus fruits, grapes, lettuce, dates, vegetables, herbs, and nursery plants. MAFA employs 1,600 permanent staff—including engineers, accountants, and export specialists—and 6,000 seasonal workers, 7% of whom are people with disabilities. The company is heavily invested in research and development, utilising soil moisture sensors, precision spraying technology to reduce pesticide use, and introducing new citrus varieties through international partnerships. Its production strategies cater to both local consumption and export markets. Prime Minister Madbouly praised MAFA's efforts, stressing that agriculture remains a cornerstone of Egypt's structural reform programme and a critical driver of export growth. He reaffirmed the state's support for expanding cultivated land and adopting advanced technologies to enhance agricultural productivity and economic returns. Following the visit, the Prime Minister also inspected a mobile service convoy in Zawyet Saqr village in Abu El Matamir Centre, part of the 'Decent Life' presidential initiative. Governor Jacqueline Azar presented an overview of Beheira Governorate, which comprises 15 centres, 17 cities, and is home to 7 million people. Beheira leads Egypt in fruit and vegetable production and citrus exports. She noted that agriculture is the main source of income for Abu El Matamir's 830,000 residents. The 'Decent Life' initiative in Beheira covers six centres, with 3,916 development projects across 42 villages and 236 hamlets. Of these, 2,759 projects have been completed, 90% of which are now operational. In Abu El Matamir alone, 516 projects have been finalised, with 321 already in service. In Zawyet Saqr, 38 of the 39 planned projects have been completed and are fully operational. These include family development services, canal lining, a fire station, internal roadworks, an agricultural complex, a youth centre, and a comprehensive service hub. The Prime Minister also visited a one-day food market offering affordable goods, organised by the Beheira Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade. Israa Farhan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye, this evening. During their most warm and cordial conversation, both leaders discussed the deeply worrying situation in the region in the wake of Israel's unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Iran. The two leaders agreed that Israel's military strikes had violated Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in clear contravention of the UN Charter and international law, while seriously jeopardizing regional and global peace and stability. They also denounced Israel's brazen military aggression against the brave Palestinian people, that continued with complete impunity. The two leaders emphasized that the international community and the United Nations must act collectively and urge Israel to immediately end its aggressive posturing and illegal actions against Iran, Palestine and other countries in the region. While renewing Pakistan's firm and unwavering commitment to upholding international peace, security and stability, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role for peace, both as member of the UN Security Council, as well as in other forums such as the OIC. In this regard, the Prime Minister said that Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar would represent Pakistan at the upcoming OIC CFM meeting in Istanbul. He also congratulated President Erdogan for being decorated by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF). Both leaders apprised one another about their country's diplomatic outreach in the prevailing regional situation.
