Photo by Chris Jackson / Getty Images Justin Trudeau's choice of footwear at the Speech from the Throne is the perfect metaphor for this country's lost decade when he was prime minister. Trudeau showed up in a pair of neon turquoise and orange sneakers. His Crocs must have been at the cleaners. Perhaps he has a foot injury of which we're unaware. In that case, he could have chosen more subdued shoes. As it was, it underscored how he led this country in an unserious way. Is it any wonder that U.S. President Donald Trump shows so little respect for us when, in 2015, Trudeau was quoted in the New York Times saying Canada's not a real country. 'There is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada.' he said. He added that we're, 'the first post-national state.' His energy policies have done more to alienate Alberta than any government since his father, Pierre. Yes, his government stepped in to complete the Trans Mountain pipeline. That was only after Kinder Morgan walked away, faced with opposition from B.C.. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Everything Trudeau touched crashed and burned: Immigration; Housing; ArriveCan. You name it. When anomalies thought to be children's graves were found at the sites of former residential schools, Trudeau's first reaction, before the investigations were even complete, was to plunge this country in a frenzy of self-flagellation. Canada Day was cancelled. Churches burned. Statues were vandalized with false claims about the part the subject played in residential schools. Trudeau seemed more concerned about his socks than foreign policy. His childish pranks relegated us to the kids' table of global politics. He alienated us from trusted organizations such as the Commonwealth, at a time when we needed international friends and global trading partners. He diminished our connection to the Crown, an integral part of our history, our courts, our legislatures and our identity in North America. The King's Speech has to be more than just lip service to restoring worldwide respect for this country. It must be a pledge to restore Canada to being the serious grown-up in the room. As for Trudeau, we hope he laces up those running shoes and jogs off Parliament Hill – for good. Toronto & GTA Canada Canada Tennis Music

Exclusive: The Egyptian Designer Behind Mo Salah's Adidas Boots

Exclusive: The Egyptian Designer Behind Mo Salah's Adidas Boots Mo Salah's Custom Boots weren't made for walking. They were made for history. And they were made by an Egyptian. Remember those custom boots Mohamed Salah wore for his final game with Liverpool? The ones Adidas gave him to mark the end of an era at Anfield: gold-striped, hand-sketched, and never-for-sale? Well, turns out they weren't just made for a game. They were made for history. And they were made by another Egyptian. Enter Abdu Galal. A designer born in Cairo, now based in Nürnberg, and maybe the most important name you haven't heard yet. Because when the Egyptian King stepped onto the pitch on May 25, it wasn't just his name that was going down in Premier League lore, it was Galal's too. And we've got the exclusive first look at the original sketches that brought Salah's final-match boots to life. When he sat down to design the final boots of his favourite footballer, he wasn't designing for a client, nor even for a person, he was designing for a myth. 'I thought I'd be overwhelmed,' he wrote on Instagram. 'I've followed every match, every goal, every celebration. So how do you separate being a fan…from being a designer?' You don't. That's the point. These boots were designed for Salah's feet, yes, but also for every Egyptian watching from afar. These boots may never sit on a store shelf, or behind auction glass; they represent something more than commercial value. They mark a moment of connection: from one Egyptian legend to another in the making. 'This wasn't a product launch,' Galal explains . 'It was a love letter. From one Egyptian to another. From fan to hero. From story to legacy.' And then came the moment. Final game. Final goal. Final boots. Salah equalised in the 84th minute, a record-matching 29th goal of the season. One last magic trick from the magician. And at the centre of it all? At the source of the legacy-consolidating feat? Galal's boots. The designer's own story is its own kind of odyssey. A graduate of Miami Ad School Europe, Galal has brought his hybrid eye to projects with Facebook, IKEA, and now Adidas, where he's been full-time since 2022. His work has been recognised by everyone from The One Show to the Webby Awards. Yet, this task felt less professional, and entirely personal. In the hand-sketched fuzziness of the sketches, this love shines through. "There was something different about this project," Galal wrote. "It wasn't just a boot. It was a thank you. A visual celebration of his records, his roots, and his bond with the fans."

recently marked a royal first during his trip to Canada—but supporters were outraged by former prime minister 's "disrespectful" gesture during the historic moment. He wore a blue suit paired with a teal and orange pair of Adidas running shoes. On social media, many royal fans were indignant on King Charles' behalf. One X user declared, "Totally disrespectful ~ Trudeau is a clown." Another critic wrote via X, "This is how the Trudeau's showed up for the King's throne speech. Margaret #Trudeau looked awful and look at Justin's shoes. No class." Someone else speculated, "Justin Trudeau wore those shoes on purpose so the world would talk about him again." Meanwhile, a different X user commented, "Of course he did.. what an embarrassment." Still, one person pointed out, "Everyone is pissed off at @JustinTrudeau for not wearing formal shoes to [Throne] Speech. but the man is retired He's not longer the PM he retired." Another unbothered X user shared, "The number of people commenting on Trudeau's choice of footwear. Those are actually bada-- Adidas Gazelles and I love that colour combo. Adidas confirms data breach, customer contact information exposed

Adidas has confirmed a cybersecurity breach in which unauthorized actors accessed personal data belonging to customers who had previously contacted the company's customer service. The compromised information primarily includes names, phone numbers, and email addresses. The sportswear giant emphasized that no passwords, credit card details, or other payment-related data were affected. The breach occurred through a third-party customer support provider, according to an official statement. Upon discovering the incident, Adidas said it promptly took steps to contain the breach, launched a full-scale investigation with the support of cybersecurity experts, and began notifying affected individuals, as well as regulatory and law enforcement authorities, in line with legal obligations. "We remain fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of our consumers and sincerely regret any inconvenience or concern caused by this incident," the company said. Consumer advocacy group Which? urged customers to be vigilant, recommending they monitor their financial accounts and credit reports for unusual activity. The group also warned that scammers might attempt to exploit the breach by posing as Adidas representatives through unsolicited emails, calls, or social media messages. The Adidas incident follows a wave of cyberattacks on major retailers including Marks & Spencer, Co-op, and Harrods. While recent attacks have been linked to the English-speaking hacking group known as Scattered Spider, there is currently no indication that Adidas's breach is related. Despite the breach, Adidas reported no operational disruptions and continues to implement enhanced security measures to safeguard its consumer data.(DPA)

Adidas Admits Data Breach Following Third-Party Attack

Adidas shoes in store window. Adidas AG is a German sports apparel manufacturer and parent company ... More of the Adidas Group. Adidas is once again in the cybersecurity spotlight. This time the breach came through a side door. Attackers infiltrated a third-party customer service provider and accessed the contact information of Adidas customers, as reported by Bleeping Computer. This incident highlights a growing trend: hackers are increasingly targeting vendors to bypass the more robust defenses of global brands. Adidas confirmed that names, email addresses and phone numbers of customers who contacted support were exposed. No payment or password data was compromised, but the information is a potential goldmine for phishing and social engineering attempts. The company has begun notifying affected users and has reported the breach to data protection regulators and law enforcement, as required by law. This is not Adidas' first data security incident. In 2018, the company suffered a breach affecting millions of U.S. customers. Adidas disclosed separate incidents in Turkey and South Korea, both involving third-party customer service providers and exposing similar personal data. Cybercriminals have shifted tactics. Instead of attacking a company's main network, they look for poorly guarded side doors. Third-party vendors often lack the robust security measures of the companies they serve, making them attractive targets. Key factors fueling this trend include: Verizon's 2025 Data Breach Investigations Report found that 30 percent of breaches last year involved external service providers, raising ongoing concerns around vendor risk management and security oversight. Forward-thinking retailers are adopting new strategies to reduce third-party risk. Consider these best practices: The Adidas breach is not an isolated event. It is a warning for the entire retail sector. As hackers become more sophisticated, companies must treat third-party risk as a top priority, not just a compliance issue. Key takeaways for business leaders: For businesses, remember that your security is only as strong as your weakest partner. The companies that thrive will be those that treat every link in their supply chain as a potential point of failure and act accordingly.
