Alabama falls in Game 3, drops SEC regular season finale at Florida
In what was the final weekend of the regular season, the Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Gainesville, Florida this past week for one final conference series before the SEC Tournament.
Starting on Thursday night, Alabama squared off with the Florida Gators in a ranked SEC baseball series where big stakes were attached for both programs, in particular when it comes to potentially hosting a regional in the NCAA Tournament.
However, it would be Florida who ended with the final word in Game 1 on Thursday night, eventually coming away with a 7-6 victory.
In the loss, Alabama originally jumped out to an early lead behind a solid start from right-hander Tyler Fay, holding a 5-0 advantage after the third inning following home runs from Richie Bonomolo Jr. and Justin Lebron. However, the Crimson Tide still held a lead late, but saw the Gators claim a 7-6 advantage in the seventh which they would never give up.
Friday, Alabama however bounced back in a big way during Game 2, coming away with an impressive 9-6 victory.
Led by a solid start from Riley Quick in which he allowed only two runs with seven strikeouts over five innings, the story for Alabama was likely the offense however, headlined by a five-run fifth inning. Included in this inning was a big three RBI double from Brady Neal, which built a sizable lead for the Crimson Tide.
With both teams splitting the two games, it set up a decisive rubber-match Game 3 on Saturday, one in which the Gators eventually came away with a 9-3 victory to take the series. In the loss, Alabama fell behind early, and never were able to erase that deficit, in part due to a five-run fifth inning.
With these results, Alabama concludes the regular season with a 40-15 overall record, as well as a 16-14 mark in SEC play. The Crimson Tide's next game will come in the 2025 SEC Tournament this week in Hoover.

According to Texas A&M's media team, Shane Sinon, one of the lesser-known names on the coaching staff, who served as a graduate assistant under Williams last season, will now serve as McMillan's Assistant Director of Operations. According to Jaxson Callaway (AggiesToday), Sinon served as Buzz Williams' day-to-day assistant, also assisting in traveling and inventory for the program last season. Sinon appears to be a rising star in the coaching ranks and will serve under current Director of Operations Warren Fitzpatrick, assisting with team operations that include recruiting, finances, and media-based situations. This will likely finish out Texas A&M's 2025 basketball staff, which Bucky McMillan will rely on during his inaugural season and beyond. Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 2026 3-star DE Matthew Nelson The Oklahoma Sooners added another intriguing defensive prospect in the 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of defensive end Matthew Nelson. Nelson is the eighth player committed to the Sooners 2026 class and the fourth player on the defensive side of the ball. Just a few weeks ago, Brent Venables and the Sooners didn't have a player committed on defense. Venables and Jim Nagy have the ball rolling. Nelson received his Oklahoma offer back at the beginning of May, and not long after that, the Bryant, Arkansas product picked up offers from Mississippi State and Missouri. But the Sooners made a strong first impression and had him on campus this past weekend for his official visit. He's the second defensive line prospect added to the class, joining four-star defensive tackle Brian Harris. After flying under the radar through his junior year, Nelson's recruitment began to heat up, and he's now considered a three-star prospect, according to Rivals. Nelson's length and his athleticism really stand out on tape. He displays fantastic effort working to the ball carrier even when the play runs away from him. Nelson displays great discipline, setting the edge. He plays with good power, showing the ability to pull offensive tackles off balance to get around them and to the quarterback. Nelson's quick off the line of scrimmage and plays with good leverage. He'll need to continue to add mass, but he has the frame to be able to bulk up and keep his athleticism and quickness. NFL Draft expert Todd McShay likes Cade Klubnik's game, gives an NFL player comp Former ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay had high praise for Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik this week, offering a notable NFL comparison as Klubnik prepares for his senior season. On The McShay Show, McShay said Klubnik reminds him of Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, noting similarities in their feel for chaos and improvisation. 'I see a lot of Bo Nix in this kid,' McShay said. 'He's great when the play breaks down — climbing the pocket, sidestepping pressure. It's almost soothing for him. He also has that elastic arm. The ball comes out with more energy than you expect.' McShay said he underestimated Nix during his time at Auburn but came to appreciate his development at Oregon. He now sees those same traits in Klubnik — mobility, size, arm flexibility, and poise under pressure — though he made clear that the comparison was about style, not necessarily ceiling. Klubnik enters the 2025 season as a potential first-round pick and legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate. Stephen Muench, McShay's co-host, offered a different comp: veteran NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford. 'I think both Stafford and Klubnik are very tough, very smart,' Muench said. 'He makes confident throws, gets to his third read. That's what you want to see in a next-level guy.'
