The collective of filmmakers aims to give the audience an on-the-ground, intimate perspective of a territory now so often viewed through war and casualty footage and will be able to be viewed across the UK, including at the Glasgow Film Theatre.
Using a mix of genres including documentary, docu-fiction, stop-motion animation, and experimental cinema, From Ground Zero has been critically acclaimed for its ability to capture the experiences of Palestinian life, including the immense challenges and tragedies of navigating the warzone each day.
Shot in between, and sometimes during, bombing raids across nine months from 2023-2024 From Ground Zero features short films like Damo Nidal's Everything Is Fine which follows the daily life of a comedian before he performs his stand-up set in a bombed venue.

Other shorts like, Neda'a Abu Hassnah's Out of Frame sees artist Ranin Al Zeriei surveying the remainder of her destroyed studio, while Reema Mahmoud's documentary, Selfies, sits with a young woman while she applies her make-up to hide the physical signs of trauma.
Meanwhile, shorts like Khamis Masharawi's Soft Skin which captures young children using stop-motion animation to relay the nightmare experience of their parents writing their family names on their limbs in case a bomb hits, aims to showcase the horrors Palestinians have faced during Israel's brutal bombardment on Gaza.
Those behind From Ground Zero claim that the screenings aim to serve as a reminder that despite previous efforts to silence them, as the film was stricken from the 2024 Cannes lineup on political grounds after initially being accepted, Palestinian people's voices are louder than ever through art and film.

Cat Deeley's heartbreak over lavish wedding with Patrick Kielty

This Morning's Cat Deeley and RTE presenter Patrick Kielty announced their separation earlier this week, over a decade after marrying Cat Deeley bravely shared a heartbreaking moment from before her lavish wedding to Patrick Kielty. The television presenters announced their separation earlier this week after more than a decade of marriage. ‌ This Morning presenter Cat, 48, and Irish presenter Patrick, 54, met while presenting BBC Fame Academy in 2002. They hosted two series of the show together in 2002. ‌ They tied the knot in Rome in September 2012, just nine months after they began dating. They were joined by 100 guests at an intimate ceremony conducted by Belfast-based priest Father Gary Donegan. ‌ Cat has previously revealed that her grandfather couldn't attend the destination wedding because he was too unwell to travel. The former couple recorded the ceremony for him, but he died before he could actually watch it. The star opened up about the heartbreak when asked about her 'biggest regret' by Grazia magazine in 2017. She replied: 'He died before he saw it. The good thing is we love it and, after two glasses of wine, Patrick and I put it on like a pair of losers." ‌ Fans of the couple were left stunned when details of their wedding appeared. Especially because Patrick denied they were engaged just months before they said 'I do'. Cat even picked out her wedding dress before the couple were planning to walk down the aisle. Speaking on Lorraine in 2021, she said: 'Mine [wedding dress]is in the cupboard somewhere but I'd actually already got my dress before... It wasn't because I was feeling lucky, I promise! It was a couture dress from Alexander McQueen - a shift white dress. "It was so beautiful that I just couldn't not buy it and I hadn't even met Paddy at that stage. I literally put it in my cupboard and I was like I'll wear it to something... I'll wear it to some awards. There you go.' ‌ Cat and Patrick share two children together. Announcing their separation this week, they said: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment." ‌ Cat rose to fame while presenting SM:TV Live alongside Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. While she met Patrick in 2002 on Fame Academy, the pair didn't become romantically involved for almost a decade. RTE presenter Patrick says he won Cat over with a huge romantic gesture. He told The Daily Mail: told the Daily Mail: "Unless someone was stupid enough to get on a plane, nothing would have happened. "Cat was in LA and I was in Northern Ireland, so I texted her to wish her a happy birthday. When she said she was having a birthday lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I said I'd be there. She told me to go to sleep as I was drunk. "That was 2am. I got up at 5am, went to Belfast airport for 6am, got the 7.15am flight to Heathrow, landed at 8.30am, took off again at 9.40am and arrived in LA at 1.15pm." The couple lived in America while Cat presented So You Think You Can Dance. They however returned to the UK in 2020.

BBC to remove one of the best historical films ever made in days

The film will be removed from the BBC's iPlayer service on Friday, August 2 UK viewers have until August 2 to stream the acclaimed historical epic Gladiator on BBC's iPlayer service before it is taken down. ‌ Since its debut in 2000, Gladiator has been hailed as a cinematic milestone, earning plaudits for its accurate depiction of ancient Rome and its compelling blend of narrative depth and thrilling spectacle. ‌ The film boasts an impressive 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and remains a standout entry in both the sword-and-sandal genre and director Ridley Scott's oeuvre. ‌ Set during the zenith of the Roman Empire, Gladiator follows Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), a revered Roman general who is loyal to Emperor Marcus Aurelius. After a significant victory against Germanic tribes, Maximus yearns for home. However, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the emperor's envious son, murders his father and takes power. Betrayed and sentenced to death, Maximus manages to escape only to find his family murdered under Commodus' command, reports the Express. ‌ Sold into slavery and thrust into the harsh world of gladiatorial combat, Maximus uses his military prowess to ascend the ranks of the arena fighters. His journey morphs into one not just of survival but of retribution - resolute to avenge his family and restore dignity to Rome by confronting Commodus from within the Colosseum's heart. The film boasts an impressive cast with Russell Crowe delivering an Oscar-winning performance as Maximus, and Joaquin Phoenix's turn as Commodus marking him as a top Hollywood actor. The supporting cast includes Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Richard Harris as Marcus Aurelius, Derek Jacobi as Senator Gracchus, Djimon Hounsou as Juba, and Oliver Reed in his last screen role as Proximo. ‌ Under Ridley Scott's expert direction, John Mathieson's cinematography, and the powerful score by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard, the film creates a captivating atmosphere that whisks audiences back to the ancient world. Gladiator clinched five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe, and is hailed for rekindling interest in Roman history in popular culture, influencing everything from TV dramas to video games set in similar times. A Rotten Tomatoes reviewer encapsulates the sentiment: "How can you not be entertained? ! Ridley Scott's sword-and-sandal epic is the catalyst that led to a majority of modern men's obsession with the Roman Empire. The timeless, spectacular action combined with a simple yet poignant story makes this one of the prime examples of a blockbuster film at its best." With Gladiator's departure from BBC iPlayer looming at midnight on August 2, UK viewers have mere days left to enjoy this widely acclaimed cinematic masterpiece from the comfort of their homes.

The distressing scenes on the show caused domestic abuse charity Women's Aid to speak out about Brad's behaviour. During her time on the show, she showcased caramel-coloured locks with blonde dipped highlights. Off air, Shona then found love with fellow MAFS UK star and Adrienne Naylor's TV husband Matt Pilmoor. On the reunion show earlier this year, she sported a lighter ashy blonde shade as Matt "proposed" to her with a promise ring. Now she has revealed her full grey shoulder-length style. An Instagram post showcased her poker-straight locks from different angles, and in the caption she wrote: "24 hours getting used to my new hair eeek!! "Swipe all the way to the end for the before. @alicealiciahair. "This is my reality I have sooo many greys so I'm really trying to work with it & not against it. "We decided to go for the chop to get rid of the warmth and go more ashy then leaving my greys to blend." MAFS star rushes herself to hospital after pus begins oozing from her very puffed up eye Staying candid, she added: "It's taking me a while to get used to because I've never been this short or cool toned before but I love my little grey bits at the front sparkling through! Xoxo." Earlier this month, shew gave fans an update on her hair journey and said: "8 months of embracing being a grey haired girlie." OPENING UP It came a year after she opted for a more natural look and dissolved her face fillers. The Nottingham-based screen star has kept fans in the loop with her journey and recently confided she was "stripping it all back so I can heal." Mafs couples that have stood the test of time Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby. The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home. Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau. Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December. Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: 'I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.' Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019. Owen recalled: 'I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work. "While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in. 'The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, 'Wouldn't it be funny if I signed up?' 'A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.' Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson. Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong. They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod. Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship." Shona added: "The no make-up thing as I've got older hasn't been a big thing for me because I'm not actually that good at make up to make myself look that different but no fake tan??? "I find that the hardest. It's how I felt at first when I dissolved my over done filler last year & got rid of my hair extensions. "Sooo naked. But you're not naked, you're just you. It's about loving yourself through all stages. "I haven't even plucked my eyebrows or waxed my upper lip & it's not about letting myself go, it's about letting myself be. "It's all part of the healing. Unfiltered, unedited, unafraid with my lil greys, eczema & acne spots. We just keep on riding the wave." Her body confident approach comes after she was rushed to hospital this summer when her eye puffed up after an allergic reaction. 7 Shona has been on a mission to embrace her greys for the past year Credit: Instagram 7 Shona told how she was embracing 'her reality' Credit: Instagram
