Lando Norris cuts nose in McLaren celebrations at Silverstone
Norris followed in the footsteps of Sir Stirling Moss, James Hunt, Sir Jackie Stewart and Lewis Hamilton as he became the 13th British driver to triumph at his home race.
The 25-year-old capitalised on Oscar Piastri 's 10-second penalty at a wet Silverstone to take his fourth win of the season to reduce his rival's lead at the summit of the world standings from 15 points to eight.
Norris' celebrations were briefly halted after a photographer fell off a fence in the pit lane and landed on him. McLaren confirmed that Norris was fine, other than the minor injury to his nose.
'This victory is everything I dreamed of,' said Norris. 'Being on top at your home race is very, very special.
'From a British perspective, I join a long list of pretty incredible winners – most of them are Lewis (Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix a record nine times) – so to join him and continue the reign of the British at Silverstone is amazing.
'Looking up at the fans and seeing them on their feet, your mind just goes pretty blank. The main thing is just don't f*** it up. I was just trying to enjoy the moment.
'But these are moments that none of you guys get to witness. This is only something that I, and very few Brits have achieved. It is a selfish moment, in a way, but so special and incredible because it is such a rare thing to feel and witness.
'For me, it is my best win, maybe not the best way to win, but in terms of what it means to me, winning at home, it is very memorable. Apart from winning a championship, this is as good as it gets.'
Norris was just eight when Hamilton won in the wet at Silverstone by more than a minute after a drive for the ages.
Hamilton, 40, had to settle for fourth on Sunday after he came up just short in his bid to land a first podium in Ferrari colours.
Norris continued: 'Silverstone is where it all started for me – watching Lewis, Jenson (Button), Fernando (Alonso) – and it was that wet race here in 2008 when I began watching Formula One.
'Lewis won and I got that picture of him going round and all the fans are standing up, creating an amazing atmosphere. I dreamed of that for many, many years and today I got to see that through my own eyes and live that moment.'
Norris' voice broke as he celebrated his win over the radio.
'There were no tears,' insisted Norris with a smile. 'I tried. But when I get emotional I don't cry, I just smile and it is pure happiness. I wish I could cry because I think it looks better for the pictures!'
Norris' championship appeared in tatters after he crashed into the back of Piastri in Montreal last month but he has responded with back-to-back wins for the first time in his career to breathe new life into his title charge.
He concluded: 'I have had two good weekends, and of course I want to continue the momentum, but that requires consistency and I need to keep working hard.'

Enzo Maresca has revealed who was behind the decision to allow Noni Madueke to leave Chelsea for Arsenal. The two London clubs have come to an agreement for the transfer of the 23-year-old England star, with a £52million deal close to being completed for the wide man. Personal terms over a five-year deal have already been agreed, as reported in this week's Chelsea Confidential on Mail Sport. It's a transfer that has raised a few eyebrows given the obvious potential of the player, while one of Arsenal's stars already occupied Madueke's best position on the right ring in Bukayo Saka. Still, Madueke has left the Blues camp at the Club World Cup to complete the move, with a formal announcement expected in the near future. Now, Blues boss Maresca has revealed who had the call for the player to move on - and it was Madueke himself. 'Noni is in contact with a new club,' Maresca said. 'I guess that he's going to leave in the next hours. 'I said in one of the last press conferences that at the end, if players want to leave, at the end, it's difficult for the club and for the manager. 'Noni decided to leave, nobody told Noni he had to leave. If he is happy, we are happy.' Maresca had previously admitted he was fine with Madueke departing if he didn't want to be at the club, almost pushing him out the door. The Italian said last weekend: 'Noni has been very important for us. But my message to the players and to the club is that I want just players that are happy to be with us,' Maresca said. 'The ones that are not happy, they are free to go. Noni has been very good during the season'. Madueke has been a regular for Chelsea over the last season, including playing the entirety of their Conference League final which they won against Real Betis. He has also been used at this Club World Cup, though was a substitute rather than a starter in their semi-final win over Fluminense amid apparent concerns from Maresca that his focus was not entirely on his current side. Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that a winger has been targeted by Arsenal this summer, with Madueke high on their list. The Gunners have been looking to bolster their attacking options this transfer window, with a move to sign Victor Gyokeres close - though reportedly at risk of collapsing due to a silence in negotiations. They had also been on the hunt for a winger - it is understood their preference was a left-sided wide man, but one who can play on either side, like Madueke, was also an option. The Gunners then approached the player and there were no hurdles in terms of personal terms and the negotiations with Chelsea went smoothly too. While Madueke is set for the exit, Chelsea have an 18-year-old wonderkid in Estevao Willian arriving from Palmeiras this summer. He played on the right wing against his future employers and scored a spectacular goal in a sign of his potential. Madueke is left-footed and prefers to play on the right - a position occupied by Saka at Arsenal. But he is also capable of playing the left and has featured there recently for the Blues. Maresca left Madueke out of two matches in 2024-25 for internal reasons, one of those coming when he had performed poorly in training. He will likely compete with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli for a starting spot in the Arsenal team next season.

Novak Djokovic plans to return to Wimbledon next year
Novak Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the semi-final. Djokovic's performance was significantly hampered by a thigh injury sustained during his quarter-final match. Despite pre-tournament speculation, Djokovic expressed his strong desire to return to Wimbledon next year, stating he is not planning to end his career there. He admitted that age and the wear and tear on his body are making best-of-five set matches increasingly challenging, particularly in the latter stages of Grand Slams. Jannik Sinner will now face Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, with Djokovic giving Alcaraz a "slight advantage".
