5 foreign ministers from central Asia to attend India-hosted conclave
New Delhi is hosting the fourth edition of Central Asia Dialogue to forge closer, wider and stronger partnership with the region, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI) India will host foreign ministers of five Central Asian countries at a conclave on Friday with a focus on jointly combating terrorism and boosting cooperation in areas of trade and technology.
India has been looking at enhancing its cooperation with the Central Asian states of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the last few years amid China's persistent efforts to expand its influence in the region.
The conclave is expected to be chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
'India and Central Asia, in each other's 'Extended Neighbourhood', enjoy close and cordial contemporary diplomatic relations underpinned by millennia old cultural and people-to-people exchanges,' the MEA said in a statement.
The first India-Central summit was held virtually in January 2022.
The mechanism of India-Central Asia Dialogue, at the level of foreign ministers, have taken this relationship substantially forward, the MEA said.
'The ministers will discuss further strengthening of relations between India and Central Asian countries with particular focus on trade, connectivity, technology, and development cooperation,' it said.
'They will also share perspectives on challenges to regional security and other regional and global issues of mutual interest,' it added.
Ways to deal with challenge of terrorism will also be discussed, people familiar with the matter said.
'The India-Central Asia Dialogue is a manifestation of mutual interest on the part of India and the Central Asian countries to forge even closer, wider and stronger partnership in a spirit of friendship, trust and mutual understanding,' the MEA said.
The foreign ministers will also participate in the India-Central Asia Business Council that will be hosted by on Thursday by the MEA in collaboration with FICCI.
The India-Central Asia Dialogue, launched in January 2019 in Samarkand, is a meeting of foreign ministers.
It serves as a key platform for strengthening ties between India and Central Asia.
The second meeting took place virtually in October 2020 and focussed on regional security, counter-terrorism, and infrastructure development.
The third meeting was held in New Delhi in December 2021 and emphasised connectivity to further deepen the ties between India and Central Asia. PTI MPB ZMN

Bihar: Minta Devi slams INDIA Bloc Protest Over 124-Year-Old Voter Claim
A woman from Bihar's Siwan district on Tuesday criticised Opposition MPs for using her name in their protest over alleged discrepancies in the voter list, after she was recorded as 124 years old in Election Commission (EC) records. INDIA bloc MPs earlier in the day staged a demonstration in Parliament wearing T-shirts featuring Minta Devi's name emblazoned with the slogan '124 Not Out' to highlight errors in the electoral roll. Reacting to the protest, Minta Devi told ANI that she learned about the issue only a few days ago and rejected the Opposition's use of her name and age for political purposes. "I came to know about this 2-4 days back... Who are they (Opposition MPs) to me? Who is Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi to me? Who gave them the right to wear T-shirts featuring me?... I think there are discrepancies (in the list)... I did not get anyone's (from the administration) phone call... Why are they becoming my well-wisher over my age?... This should not be done, I do not want this..." she said. "I want my details to be corrected... Whoever entered the details, did they do so with their eyes closed?... If I am 124 years old in the eyes of the government, why are they not giving me old age pension? My Aadhaar Card mentions 15-07-1990 as my date of birth," she added. Jammu Rail Division auctions LCD monitors to raise revenue
Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) The Jammu Rail Division has auctioned all LCD monitors installed at ticket reservation counters and other places in the whole division to publicity companies for one to five years, to increase revenue. 'On August 11, 2025, we declared the result of the e-auction, which was held on July 4, 2025. We have awarded the contract to various firms for Rs 9,00,990 for the next one year and Rs 53,15,841 for the next five years," a railway official said. According to railways, the Digital Display Information System (DDIS)-LCD monitors have been placed outside each Ticket Reservation Counter, integrated with the Railway Ticket System (CRIS). 'The screen is thoughtfully divided into two distinct sections. The lower 30 per cent is dedicated to displaying real-time ticket information for each commuter, which is essential for verification before ticket booking," the official said. The remaining 70 per cent is used for presenting entertainment content and ads to commuters awaiting their turn, he said. At the Pathankot Cantt Railway Station of Jammu Division, the Pay and Use toilet block has been allotted to a company for operation for Rs 7,66,669 for the first year and Rs 23,00,007 for the next three years, the official said. The division also auctioned Seating-cum-Luggage (SLR) trains. 'SLRs of train numbers 12588, 16032 and 12476 were allotted for various trips for Rs 5,19,379, Rs 1,17,32,805 and Rs 22,44,040, respectively, for two years," the official said. Similarly, SLRs for train numbers 12478 and 14692 were allotted for various trips for Rs 22,38,979 and Rs 21,36,645 for two years. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, said, 'This system is a non-revenue income system operated by the Commercial Department in Indian Railways, which includes commercial promotion, parking, pay and use parcel leasing, ATM, etc. Its allocation has been done successfully through e-auction."
