Canary raises $80m to fuel expansion in hospitality AI
Hotel guest management technology company Canary Technologies has secured an $80m Series D funding round to propel its expansion worldwide in the hospitality AI arena. The funding round was led by Brighton Park Capital, with contributions from existing investors which encompass F-Prime Capital, Insight Partners, Thayer Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Commerce Ventures. This additional capital boosts Canary's valuation to an estimated $600m. Canary Technologies CEO and co-founder Harman Singh Narula said: 'Through intelligent, enterprise-grade solutions, we're helping hotels run smarter, deliver faster service and create more personalised guest experiences at scale. 'This latest investment reflects both the extraordinary dedication of the team, whose work is redefining what's possible, and the growing impact Canary is making across the industry. We're energised by the strong demand and excited to expand our partnerships with many of the world's leading hoteliers.' The latest financial milestone follows a $50m Series C funding round last year. The company has forged partnerships with hotel brands such as Marriott, Wyndham, Best Western, and TUI Hotels & Resorts. In response to the increasing worldwide demand for AI-driven guest engagement solutions, Canary has also introduced AI products, including the AI Voice platform and Webchat. The fresh investment will be channelled towards accelerating Canary's international presence. Canary Technologies president and co-founder SJ Sawhney said: 'Our AI solutions are crafted in close partnership with customers, purpose-built for hospitality, and deeply inspired by hoteliers' day-to-day workflows. 'When our hotel partners dream of better service, smarter operations, or more delightful guest experiences, our team works hard to turn those dreams into reality with precision, scale and purpose.' Serving over 20,000 hotels across more than 100 countries, Canary Technologies is a preferred enterprise partner for various brands worldwide. Brighton Park Capital partner Kevin Magan said: 'We're thrilled to partner with Harman, SJ, and the entire team as they accelerate their momentum and solidify their position as a category leader. 'Their dedication to delivering enterprise-grade, high-impact solutions for hoteliers positions them for long-term success and sustained global leadership.' Earlier this year, Aimbridge Hospitality adopted Canary's Digital Tipping solution to enhance guest and associate experiences. Radisson Collection opens new hotel in Lyon, France
The Radisson Hotel Group has debuted its luxury-lifestyle Radisson Collection brand in France with Cour des Loges in Lyon. Situated in the UNESCO-listed Vieux Lyon district, the hotel's origin dates back to the 14th century. The renovation of Cour des Loges, led by heritage architecture company Cécile Rémond, Architecte du Patrimoine, has preserved historical structures and integrated rediscovered objects, encompassing a 17m-high glass roof in the central courtyard. The hotel, which became part of Radisson Hotel Group in 2022, now offers 61 individually designed rooms and suites. Radisson Hotel Group Northern & Western Europe managing director Tom Flanagan said: 'France has long been a strategic market for Radisson Hotel Group, and we are proud to introduce our Radisson Collection brand with such an extraordinary landmark. 'The opening of Cour des Loges Lyon, A Radisson Collection Hotel, is a fitting debut – bringing the brand's promise of exceptional, culturally rich hospitality to life. More than just a hotel, it is a destination where heritage, craftsmanship and curated experiences come together to define the essence of luxury-lifestyle travel.' Catering to various guest needs, Collection Superior rooms cater to short stays, while Junior Suites are made for extended visits. Collection Premium rooms at the property offer more space. Cour des Loges features an array of dining experiences including Les Loges, a fine dining restaurant, and Le Comptoir, a contemporary bistro. The spa at the hotel, Pure Altitude, is set to launch soon, featuring an indoor pool, hammam and sauna. For events, the hotel provides several unique settings, including the Jeu de Paume Salon, Petit Collège and Agapes, alongside five adaptable meeting rooms, the Great Court and two private courtyards. La Petite Loge, set to reopen its doors soon, will also offer a renovated space for private dinners. Cour des Loges Lyon general manager Yves Grardel said: 'Every corner whispers stories of craftsmanship, culture and cuisine – woven together through meaningful moments and heartfelt hospitality in the heart of Vieux-Lyon. 'Lyon's remarkable heritage, vibrant spirit and unrivalled art de vivre make it a destination like no other, and Cour des Loges Lyon, A Radisson Collection Hotel, is its soul – more than a hotel, it is a home steeped in history, where timeless elegance and modern comfort embrace.' Earlier this year, the Radisson Hotel Group expanded its presence in France with a new Radisson Blu property in Montpellier, designed to accommodate the needs of both business and leisure travellers. Announcing GreenShift, a New Podcast About Climate Change and Travel
The podcast where solutions-based journalism cuts through industry spin to spotlight real progress in travel sustainability. Skift has launched a new climate podcast, GreenShift, a show exploring how the global travel industry is responding to the climate crisis. Hosted by Darin Graham, climate reporter at Skift, GreenShift will feature straightforward conversations with leaders across travel and tourism. The podcast dives into the sector's biggest climate challenges, highlights emerging solutions, and reports on the breakthrough technologies that could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Listen to the First Episode Recent studies suggest travel is responsible for roughly 9% of global emissions and that share is only expected to grow and travel and tourism is widely seen as the fastest-growing sector in terms of greenhouse gas output. The first season of GreenShift includes interviews with executives from Radisson Hotel Group, Delta Air Lines, Sabre, Travelyst, and more. Each episode unpacks a different climate issue facing the industry, from greener jet fuel, hotel energy efficiency and the direct impacts of more frequent extreme weather. It asks what's working, what's not, and what still needs to happen. Climate regulations are evolving fast, with governments and industry bodies introducing ambitious net-zero targets. Aviation, for example, has committed to reaching net zero by 2050. That means slashing emissions as close to zero as possible and offsetting what's left. But how realistic are these timelines? And are companies actually making progress? GreenShift is here to find out. Subscribe on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts. Skift's in-depth reporting on climate issues is made possible through the financial support of Intrepid Travel.
