A new campaign is shining a light on women and girls in football.
Powerleague Cardiff has launched She's Got Game in response to research showing that 46 per cent of women and girls in the UK have felt judged or excluded for wanting to play football.

The initiative aims to celebrate, support, and promote female players across Wales and the UK.
Christian Rose, CEO of Powerleague, said: "This survey confirms what we've long believed, that women and girls in Cardiff and across the UK are not only passionate about football, but ready to play.
"Yet too many still face barriers that simply shouldn't exist.
"At Powerleague, we're committed to breaking those down by creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where everyone can thrive, no matter their background or ability.
"Football should be for everyone, and we're proud to be part of the movement making that a reality."

The campaign also includes a competition inviting women and girls to share their football skills and favourite moments.
Entrants will receive a free off-peak five-a-side pitch voucher and the chance to win one-to-one coaching with freestyle footballer Shannon Ghee.
Powerleague Cardiff will also screen live matches throughout the UEFA Women's Euros, offering fans a safe place to gather while encouraging new audiences to take part in the game.
Shannon Ghee said: "Football has given me confidence, community, and so much joy, and I want every girl and woman to feel that too.
"She's Got Game is about celebrating skill, creativity, and passion, no matter your level.

"Whether you're just starting out or have been playing for years, this is your moment to have fun, and show the world what you've got.
"I encourage everyone across Cardiff to have a go at a trick, or share their favourite football bit, this summer."

Pep Guardiola needed just one phone call to lure Liverpool mastermind to Man City

Pep Guardiola has disclosed that a single phone call was all it took to persuade former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders to join the ranks at Manchester City. The Dutch tactician parted ways with the Reds last year, stepping down from his position alongside Jurgen Klopp after an illustrious six-year spell at Anfield. Lijnders took the helm at Red Bull Salzburg in May 2024 and officially started in July, but his tenure was cut short in December after securing just 13 wins in 29 matches. During his stint at Anfield, the 42-year-old had been clear about seeking managerial roles post-Liverpool and had expressed no interest in returning to an assistant role once he left Klopp's team. While their collaboration is still in its infancy, Guardiola has already expressed admiration for his latest recruit while discussing his choice to bring Lijnders on board. "I know he was with Jurgen [Klopp] for many, many years," Guardiola told Sky Sports' 'One on One Podcast.' "And I thought, 'Okay, if he was with many, many years with Jurgen, this guy must be good!' "After (that) he has of course been at Salzburg and has experience as a manager. "We talked just one day and I said I would to (work) with you... sometimes decisions come from the feelings. "I knew Liverpool played outstanding the decade we have been together. I think he can give us something we didn't have in the last season in terms of rhythm, intensity, in terms of another vision of football. "Since day one, I think we were incredibly connected. I would say it's so easy to work with me, sorry to tell you, because I give incredible space to do what they believe they have to do. For the players a little bit less but for my staff, it is so easy. "I think we needed one phone call. And I said, 'Okay, let's do it. Let's go together.' That's the way it was." Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has already highlighted Lijnders' influence on Man City during their win over Wolves. "Pep Lijnders is a big coach, big influence on Jurgen Klopp and I did see little instance of that Liverpool team," Carragher said on Sky Sports' 'Monday Night Football.' "I watched the game at the weekend and couldn't believe what I saw, the players were jumping high up to try and catch the Wolves players offside. "This is very Liverpool-like. It made me think how much influence is maybe the new coach having on this team... "The amount of counter-attacking goals that Liverpool team would score with [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah, breaking forward. When I looked at the goal from Reijnders... not maybe a Pep Guardiola goal. "Of course, Pep Guardiola's teams have scored plenty of counter-attacking goals in the past. But what really stood out for this one was the type of goal it was. They win it and then they're off. "Lijnders - Guardiola gives him the thanks, the hug. Now we don't know exactly what that's for, but I don't think it's a coincidence with some of the things that I saw in the game that he, as a coach, is having a big influence on Pep Guardiola."

Noel Clarke set to learn outcome of libel claim against Guardian publisher

Actor Noel Clarke is set to discover whether he has been successful in his High Court libel claim against the publisher of the Guardian on Friday. Clarke, 49, is suing Guardian News and Media (GNM) over seven articles and a podcast, including an article in April 2021 that said 20 women who knew him professionally had come forward with allegations of misconduct. Clarke denies the allegations, while GNM is defending its reporting as being both true and in the public interest. A trial earlier this year heard from multiple witnesses who made accusations against Clarke, including that he had allegedly shared nude photographs of them without their consent, groped them, and asked them to look at him when he was exposed. Barristers for Clarke told the court that there is a conspiracy of people with financial and personal grudges against him who engineered his downfall because they could not bear to see him receive a Bafta award. Mrs Justice Steyn is set to hand down her ruling at 10.30am on Friday. The trial of the libel claim was held from early March to early April at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Clarke, who has previously appeared in TV shows including Doctor Who, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and Bulletproof, gave evidence over several days. At one stage, he appeared visibly emotional as he claimed the publisher had 'smashed my life'. He said: 'They have smashed my life for four years with this rubbish, this nonsense. Four years.' He continued: 'I did not do this, I would not do this. I have got children. This is not true.' He later said that while he was 'a flawed guy', he added: 'The reason I stand here four years later is I am not what they have branded me.' Philip Williams, representing the actor, said that his client was a 'casualty' of a media 'purge' following the emergence of the MeToo movement. He continued that Clarke was made a 'scapegoat' and was an 'easy target' because he was at the height of his success when the media industry 'zealously sought to correct itself'. The barrister also criticised the Guardian's investigation, saying the newspaper 'manifestly failed to do its job properly'.Mr Williams asked the court to find the claim successful, saying the Guardian's reporting has caused serious harm to Clarke's career, with 'continuing hostile reactions online and in public discourse'. Gavin Millar KC, for GNM, said there is 'not a shred of evidence' to support Clarke's claim of a conspiracy, describing it as 'nonsensical and rather desperate speculation'. He said Clarke has a 'very clear motive to lie' because he 'stands to lose a great deal'. In written submissions, Mr Millar said Clarke 'used his power to prey on and harass female colleagues' over a period of 15 years. He said: 'This was a careful and thorough investigation conducted conscientiously by Guardian journalists who were aware of the potential pitfalls. 'They received information from a wide range of sources with direct evidence of misconduct and in each case carefully considered and tested the information they were given, electing to publish only such information as they believed was credible.'
