Delhi: Action taken against police personnel over alleged negligence
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) In a clear message towards zero tolerance in any laxity towards duty, strict action was taken against several police force personnel, including an Inspector from a police station in Shahbad Dairy area of Outer- North Delhi. It is said that the action follows alleged mismanagement and the concerned police staff not being present on the spots assigned for their duty near a temple in the area when the Police Commissioner SBK Singh was on a review visit today amid the Janmashtami festivities. The police chief had visited an important temple in Outer- North district to take stock of the situation, and this alleged mismanagement surfaced as several personnel were found allegedly absent from their posts, after which departmental action was initiated against them. According to officials, the Police chief on Saturday conducted an on-ground inspection across various parts of the national capital in wake of the festival and took stock of the security arrangements put in place. The police were on their toes amid the festival, and had stepped up security arrangements to ensure that the festivities carry on in a smooth and uninterrupted manner so that the public faces no inconvenience. Elaborate arrangements had been put in place across the city's big and small temples and prominent markets amid Janmashtami celebrations, as the places witness high foot fall on the occasion. Astaranga IIC suspended for gross misconduct
BHUBANESWAR: Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania on Friday suspended Rajesh Baliarsingh, inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Astaranga police station in Puri, for gross misconduct and dereliction of duty. During the suspension period, he will remain under the disciplinary control of Central Range IG. Sources said Baliarsingh was suspended over his alleged links with ganja smugglers active in Koraput district. Even after getting promoted to inspector rank and being transferred to Puri district, Baliarsingh reportedly continued to keep contact with the ganja smugglers, said sources. Earlier in the week, Koraput police had summoned Baliarsingh and asked him to appear before them at a police station in Bhubaneswar for questioning in this regard. He appeared before a team of Koraput police officers, but left without their knowledge and answering their questions. On being asked whether Baliarsingh was involved in any particular case registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Koraput, district, SP Rohit Verma said a detailed probe has been launched in connection with the allegations against the police officer.
