Gary Neville STILL not welcome by Nottingham Forest after explosive Sky Sports row
Nottingham Forest want assurances from Gary Neville ahead of the new Premier League season, before he is welcome back at the City Ground. The Tricky Trees banned the former Manchester United from attending the club's final game of last season against Chelsea in a media role.
The club took exception to Neville's public outburst on owner Evangelos Marinakis, where he lambasted the Forest chief for coming onto the pitch and exchanging words with manager Nuno Espirito Santo following the recent 2-2 draw with Leicester City., During that game, Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi sustained a serious abdominal injury that required surgery.
While Neville is not formally banned, the Guardian reports there should be no expectation the Salford City owner will be accomodated as things stand. The club want assurances that Neville will be more careful in his language when discussing Marinakis before changing their stance.
Forest wrote to SKy Sports to formally complain about Neville following the Leicester game, after the pundit had confirmed he was due to be in attendance for the side's final match of the season.
Neville had posted on X: "Scandalous from that Forest owner. 'Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that."
The Midlands side hit back with a strongly worded statement where they hit out at the 'fake news' from those who suggested the owner was angry with Espirito Santo after Leicester's late goal. The club said: "We urge former coaches and players, and other public figures in the game, to resist the urge to rush to judgement and fake news online, especially when they do not have the full facts and context - least of all the injured player.
"Baseless and ill-informed outrage for the purposes of personal social media traction serves no one — least of all the injured player."
In the aftermath, Neville responded to the statement on his podcast, saying "Sorry Mr Marinakis" in a sarcastic tone.
But that was not the first falling out the parties have suffered. In April 2024 Neville claimed that the club were behaving like 'a mafia gang'. Marinakis threatened legal action against Sky as a result.
Forest received an apology for the language Neville used when he was discussing the statement the Premier League side issued to illustrate their frustrations with refereeing decisions following a defeat to Everton. In a statement the broadcaster returned: 'Sky Sports have discussed with Gary the language used and its potential to cause offence.' Sky also apologised 'for any offence caused'.
Neville has worked at the City Ground since those comments and was due to make his return for the game against Chelsea before being rejected for accreditation. In reaction, Neville said: "I've dished out my fair share of criticism and praise in the last 14 years of doing this job and have never come close to this unprecedented action.
"Personally, I think it's disappointing that a great club like Nottingham Forest have been reduced to making such a decision. Whilst they have every right to choose who they let into their own stadium, it's symptomatic of things that have happened over the last 12 months with the club.'

Wayne Rooney makes Man Utd and title winner predictions as he sends Ruben Amorim message
Wayne Rooney has made his predictions for the 2025/26 Premier League season, with the Manchester United legend tipping his old side for a resurgence under Ruben Amorim Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has tipped Liverpool for the title and his old side for a Premier League resurgence under Ruben Amorim. However, he believes the Red Devils are one or two bodies short going into the new season. United kick off their season at home to Arsenal on Sunday and are eager to bounce back from a dismal 15th-place finish last season, which represented their worst Premier League campaign. But with new signings Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha bolstering their attack, there's a sense of optimism for a fresh start. Rooney, United's all-time leading scorer, believes his former employers will climb an impressive 10 places to secure a fifth-place finish by May. He made this prediction during a Match of the Day special edition preview (via the Manchester Evening News) alongside Kelly Cates, Danny Murphy and Julien Laurens ahead of the new season's kick-off. "I still think they [United] need one or two more signings," said the Old Trafford icon. "But I think you can see what Amorim is doing. I think it's looking better for Manchester United, and I think they will sneak into the top five. I hope they do, you never know." Laurens was quick to tease Rooney about his obvious bias given his 559 appearances for United. The Red Devils face a monumental challenge in regaining their Champions League credentials, especially after consecutive seasons of setting new records for new all-time worst league finishes. "Who did you play for again?" quipped Laurens, leaving Rooney and the rest of the panel in stitches over his potentially biased perspective. Despite his Everton and United roots, Rooney didn't let his loyalties cloud his judgement as he predicted Liverpool would retain their title. Moreover, he believes that if Arne Slot 's team manage to secure Isak, they're a sure bet for the crown. The Newcastle forward is currently at loggerheads with the club after it was revealed the Swede is determined he has played his last match for the Magpies, keenly awaiting another offer from Liverpool following a rejected £120million bid. "I already had Liverpool as favourites to win the title this year," Rooney admitted. "But if Isak comes in, then I think they're gonna be unstoppable. "The quality they've got, as Danny's just alluded [to], and I think a big thing was replacing Trent [Alexander-Arnold]. There's a lot of chances created, a lot of goals came from that side. I think [Jeremie] Frimpong has got the attributes to fill that, so I think Liverpool look strong." Rooney could only grin as he spoke the words, though it wasn't one of joy. Rather it seemed to pain the pundit to heap such praise on his old nemeses, regardless of how well-deserved the praise might be. Many pundits echo this sentiment as the new season approaches, especially with Liverpool bolstering their squad with talents like Florian Wirtz and Huge Ekitike. However, Slot's men may not find immediate success after Crystal Palace snatched the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday. Rooney also predicted Arsenal will secure the Premier League's runner-up spot for the fourth consecutive year. He also tipped Manchester City and Chelsea to round out the top four. John Terry gives up on manager dream as Chelsea icon left 'baffled' after snubs
John Terry has turned his back on the prospect of becoming a manager after growing tired of the lack of opportunities that have come his way as he settles into his job at Chelsea John Terry admits he's "done in terms of coaching" and will not be pursuing a career in management but concedes he remains baffled that no opportunities came his way - especially when he sees some of the names in jobs. The Chelsea icon enjoyed a stellar playing career, winning multiple Premier Leagues and the Champions League, but that didn't open up any doors for him when he considered going into the dugout post-retirement. After calling it a day as a player he quickly became part of the set-up at Aston Villa, where he'd seen out his playing days. There he worked under Dean Smith and helped the Midlands club land promotion via the Championship play-offs. Terry then worked under Smith again when he took on the job at Leicester. He interviewed for roles at Newcastle and in League One but has now wiped his hands with it and is more than happy with the gig he's landed himself at Chelsea. He told The Sun: 'I'm done in terms of coaching. I'm enjoying my life, I'm working in the Chelsea academy. My role's a part-time role, I love working with the kids, I love passing on my knowledge and experience to those boys.' Terry has seen a number of his former England team-mates go into jobs, some of them at heavyweight clubs, despite having no experience. Frank Lampard was initially manager at Derby and then got the Chelsea job before now finding himself at Coventry. Steven Gerrard was handed the reigns at Rangers and Aston Villa early in his managerial career. Wayne Rooney has also seen numerous jobs come his way and Terry insists he was hungry initially, but has grown frustrated as doors continue to remain closed. He said: 'I absolutely wanted it. When I went into Villa I got great experience under Dean Smith and we got promotion, which was incredible. As an assistant coach in the Premier League and the experience I've had as a player and an individual captain in both Chelsea and England, I thought that would be enough to get me a job. 'I'm not saying a job in the Premier League or the Championship — but a job at League One level. I didn't even get a sniff. I had interviews and it was just 'you have no experience'. When I see some people managing today, it baffles me, it really does. 'In terms of 'am I frustrated', yes, absolutely because I have a lot of good attributes to be a really good coach or a really good manager but, unfortunately, that's not happened.'

Man City are no different, and on Thursday morning, revealed their third kit for the 2025/26 season. In an unusual twist, the kit is a grey-looking colour complete with a trim of green down the sides and neck - officially "Cool Weather/Pro Green" - and features a raindrop design all over. Puma have said the colouration pays homage to the people, the culture, and the spirit of Manchester - including the famous Mancunian weather. Selling for up to £130 for an authentic jersey, or £85 for a standard and £90 for a long sleeve version, club commercial chiefs and kit manufacturer Puma naturally hope the kit will be a nice money-spinner. However, they might have bitten off more than they can chew after fans gave their brutally honest verdict on the kit. Reacting on social media, one fan said: "This might just end up being the most terrible kit in the history of the Prem." A second said: "Can you unrelease it please." A third added: "Now need to wash my eyes out with soap, cool." BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Another said: "What has my club become." A fifth simply said: "Hideous," while a sixth added: "This is horrendous." Man City sign biggest kit deal in Premier League history as £1BILLION Puma sponsorship eclipses Utd's Adidas contract These kits are the first set following Puma and City signing a record-breaking £1billion deal. The contract - announced last month - is the biggest in history, beating Real Madrid's £950million deal with Adidas. Man City will kick-start their season against Wolves in Saturday's late kick-off. Pep Guardiola's side will be aiming to reclaim their Premier League crown after finishing third last season. They have recruited heavily in the summer, with six players - including Tijjani Reinjders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and James Trafford - coming through the door so far. Reports have suggested Gianluigi Donnarumma is set for a stunning move to the Etihad after being cast out by Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique, although City have downplayed the move.
