I ignored this wedding day ‘red flag' my grandma taught me to avoid — now I'm divorced
Marriage is no piece of cake — and this not-so-sweet groom pulled a big day stunt, forewarning the bride that their union was doomed.
Freshly single, a recent divorcée claims her 'narcissistic' ex-husband unveiled his 'first of many red flags' just moments after they said 'I do' by frosting her face with wedding cake, per the démodé tradition.
'My Grammy always said, if they smash the cake in your face on your wedding day, they don't respect you. And it won't last,' Stephanie, a content creator, captioned chaotic scenes from her messy matrimony.
'She was so right,' she continued, lauding her grandmother's words of wisdom. 'It was the first of many red flags l ignored.'
Footage of the ill-fated fête, which has amassed over 642,000 TikTok views, shows the blushing bride turning red with shame seconds after her unnamed hubby hit her in the kisser with the confection.
An admittedly 'speechless' Stephanie struggles to utter, 'I can't believe you did that,' while trying to wipe off the cream as her goofball groom chuckles, saying, 'I think it's good luck.'
But no, sir. It is not.
In fact, insiders for The Knot, a virtual wedding hub, says the centuries-old, controversial custom originated in ancient Rome with 'a bit of a dark [sexist]' history.
'The bride would have barely cake crumbled over their head,' according to the experts. 'This act was supposed to signify the promise of fertility and male dominance in the marriage.'
And although the weird ritual has somehow managed to stand the test of time, it seems nuptials plagued by the cake-smash prank are typically short lived.
A beleaguered bride angrily stormed out of her reception, when the man who'd just vowed his endless fidelity messed up her mug with a hunk of the sugary stuff — even after she begged him not to do it.
'This was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives and he embarrassed me in front of everyone for some prank that he knew I hated,' the scorned woman whined on Reddit. 'Not only that, he ruined a 500-dollar cake. He ruined my makeup, my hair and the top of my dress. The cake got all over.'
A separate groom was labeled a 'jerk' by outraged online onlookers after a clip of his cake-smashing exploits went viral on X in April.
'Automatic annulment,' tweeted virtual savages, urging the bride to dump the dope.
It's a power move that Stephanie, evidently, wishes she'd made following her ex's icky infraction.
'Finally, he told me to leave — that way he wouldn't look like the bad guy,' she said in the caption of the vid, revealing that her former fella ultimately pulled the plug on their marriage.
'I gladly left,' Stephanie assured. 'Then he got married 3 months after we got divorced.'
'Thank God I don't feel anything anymore — Maybe sorry for his new wife.'

28 Wild Things Cat Owners Do For Their Pets
I don't currently reside with any cats (sad), but I grew up with two perfect little kitties who meant the world to me. And I'm not exaggerating when I say I would have done almost anything for them. So when I came across video on TikTok asking people to share the "craziest thing [they] did for their cat," I was like "yep, yep, sounds about right." So, here are 28 of wildest things people have done for their cats, let me know in the comments if you would (or wouldn't) do any of these: "My parents didn't want my cats in the house, so they let them sleep in the garage. I slept in the garage for a month until they decided to let me and my cats back in." —caitlinnn0_0 And, similarly: "[When our cat went missing], my boyfriend slept in the garage with the garage door open and cat litter and food beside him, and a bunch of laundry strewn out across our driveway." "I used to chew food up for her and spit it out for her to eat. She wouldn't eat otherwise, trust me I tried." — "My parents cooked BBQ chicken for our elderly cat because she wouldn't eat anything else. She lived to 21." "I felt so bad my cats didn't have enough outside time, so I built basically a cardboard version of the labyrinth style stairs, which led to the outside and back safely. It took over 72 hours to make." —etherialles "During the economic crisis in my country, they stopped importing cat food, so I found these people who illegally imported and sold them for hefty prices; I paid my entire salary for black market cat food." "We were told she was going to die. She loved ripping flies' wings off in our apartment (to play), so I went to Petco and got winged grasshoppers and made a murder playground for her. She's alive still." —mmmkloppp "I once ran back into our burning house to save him, just for him to give me scars all over my leg. But I love him." "I broke up with a guy because he was allergic to my cats. Sorry, not sorry." —maeganvg"Told my husband to divorce me if he didn't like my cats. Gatos before Vatos"—ligia_paim "Once my cat choked on a piece of sausage. It already got out of his throat, but in the heat of the moment, I rushed to the vet on foot and bare feet (we had a car) a whole two kilometers in the heat." "For some reason, my cat is obsessed with coffee. So I make her little cappuccinos served in a little cup, aka frothed 'cat milk.'" —alwayskaitlyn_ "My cat has such severe anxiety that he goes to Cat Therapy, where we talk about his behavior and attitude for an hour every month and discuss his meds. It's $250 for an hour session." "My mom got me a Victorian-style portrait of my three-legged cat, Andi, in a looks great in her suit." —kaykayke4 "I was a nervous wreck when my cat got his bits removed. So I left work early and spent the rest of the day napping with him on the couch, watching The Lion King on repeat so he could 'learn from his ancestors.'" "Once my indoor cat escaped and started fighting with a stray cat. I had three seconds to intervene before my ragdoll was about to get mauled, so I stepped in and yanked him out of there. I got permanent nerve damage on both hands." —spideymenacespade "I found my cat a temporary home when I was homeless. I made sure to give [the people watching her] money for food and her litter. I put her 100% first! It wasn't her fault, I was homeless." "My cat was running around my room, so to calm him down, I downloaded a cat game on my tablet. I made an iPad-cat-kid. He won't leave my tablet alone now and sits on it when he wants to play." — "I spoon fed my cat his pate for breakfast for five months cause that's the only way he'd eat it." "I took a wall down (frantically) because she got stuck in the middle of it. To this day, my father doesn't know [how she got in there]." —anna.123456789 "I took my cat, Salem, to work with me because I heard a loud noise in my apartment and was worried the world was ending." "When my cat was severely constipated after our vet visits I started sitting by the litter box when he pooped to make sure it was all coming out fine. Now, he doesn't like pooping when I'm not there." —savannahjainemusic "I won a $3,000 jackpot at the casino and then spent it all on my cat's vet bill the next day because she had a UTI. $3,000 for a UTI…" "I bought my cat cat-water. Like, specifically pH-balanced water JUST for him. I also make sure his food has all these essential vitamins, meanwhile I'm living off coffee and a dream." —spookybeautician "I screamed and chased a raccoon that was chasing her. It was so scary, but Tofu made it home safe, and the raccoon and I both left that interaction scared and confused." "I once slept outside in the woods, surrounded by open cans of tuna to catch my cat that had gotten out. I had lots of visitors that I had to chase off, but around 3 am, I got him!" —mskittycarrie81 "My cat ate a balloon during COVID. I wasn't allowed to wait in the vet's office, so I stood outside in the freezing cold for six hours because I wanted to be there if anything happened." "My cat loved my balcony so much, but it wasn't safe for him on the 9th floor. I contacted the building management to put up a net. They ignored me for two months, so I went to the city and put in a formal complaint. The building [management] came the next week and put it up. I was the only one with a net. Then I proceeded to duct tape the edges so there were no gaps. Then it was safe. Then I moved out a month later." —josyredo And lastly, "When my cats were in the process of dying, I held them in my arms until they passed because I wanted love to be the last thing they felt." There you have it, 28 of some of the wildest things people have done for their cats. Have you ever done anything truly bananas for your favorite feline friend? Let us know in the comments!

Pit Bull's Look of 'Betrayal' After Feeling Pregnant Mom's Baby Kick Is Priceless
Pit Bull's Look of 'Betrayal' After Feeling Pregnant Mom's Baby Kick Is Priceless originally appeared on Parade Pets. Our fur babies can sense when change is in the air. Whether it's moving to a new home, a different schedule, or an impending vacation, dogs know when things are going to be different. Koa the Pit Bull got a clear-cut sign that a baby is on the way and was clearly troubled by the news. In the TikTok from @jazminedumoulin, Koa was resting on his mom's pregnant stomach when he obviously felt something stirring in her belly. The precious Pittie's zen mood was broken as his mom laughed, "Did you hear her?" referring to her soon-to-arrive baby girl. Koa slowly moved his head to give his mom a very pointed look. He had an expression of disbelief mixed with what his mom called 'betrayal'. "When your dog feels your baby's kick for the first time and ends up looking betrayed," the onscreen text explained. Apparently, Koa was so bothered by the belly activity he decided to keep his distance. "Update... he hasn't laid on my stomach since," the caption Koa doesn't fully understand the whole process of pregnancy, but he knew something was up. The pup's look of questioning and concern spoke volumes — and was completely adorable. Though dogs can't conceive (pardon the pun) what it means for their human mom to be pregnant, they most likely know there's a change through their sense of smell. A pregnant woman's hormones can affect their scent, which is picked up by your canine. Pregnancy affects mood as well, which is noticeable to our dogs. So although they can't pinpoint exactly what is different, canines perceive something unfamiliar. Some pups get protective when their mom is pregnant, where their natural instinct to guard kicks in. They can become hyper-vigilant and almost watch over their loved one, sensing a more vulnerable state. Dogs may also stay close by their expecting mom at home in the hopes of making sure she's safe. Koa has some time to prepare for his family's new arrival. The Pit Bull looks like a big sweetie and will make a great big brother. 🐶🐾🐾 Pit Bull's Look of 'Betrayal' After Feeling Pregnant Mom's Baby Kick Is Priceless first appeared on Parade Pets on Jun 25, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Jun 25, 2025, where it first appeared.

Newsboys dropped by label after Michael Tait's 'confession' to sexual assault allegations
Members of the Christian rock band Newsboys say they were dropped from their record label after ex-member Michael Tait admitted to wrongdoing when sexual assault allegations surfaced. Adam Agee and his bandmates wanted to clear the air before they performed their set at Elevate, a two-day Christian music festival in Arizona over the weekend, telling fans gathered at Highlands Church in the Phoenix suburb of Scottsdale that they "encouraged" Tait to seek treatment after he had confessed to them in January that he had been living a double life and wanted help. Agee said in a video posted to social media that they thought and prayed long and hard about "what was next," but ultimately felt like they still had "a ministry and a mission to do," which is why they continued perform. "The last six months, we've played from New York to Florida to California to right here Arizona and we have seen the most amazing people and the most amazing crowds, and we've seen the spirit do things that have been, it's so encouraging, and we've just had the best time as a band with you guys on the road," Agee said. The band's "world was rocked" by Tait's confession, where he revealed that the accusations made against him by fans in a June 4 report from Christian media outlet The Roys Report were "sadly, largely true," Agee said. Additional sexual misconduct allegations against Tait surfaced a week after the Christian singer's public admission. "As a result of all this and the things that have come out that he's confessed to, we've been dropped from our record label, we've had the radio stations pull our music and we've been cancelled by promoters and venues all over the world but not tonight," Agee said. Capitol Christian Music Group, the band's label, and Newsboys' management did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment June 25. Michael Tait's confession 'devastating' for Newsboys members Newsboys members denied any direct knowledge of the unwanted sexual advances Tait has been accused of, telling fans that the 59-year-old had only mentioned a "few things" about substance abuse and some personal struggles he was experiencing at home. "And so, it was so shocking to us because it's not the guy that we knew, the guy that we knew, that, we've been on the road with," Agee said. "He was our family, he was our brother, and he was a friend to our families, to our kids." The news has not only been "devastating" for them, but their families who have felt that "their names have been dragged through the mud" because of the situation. Who is Michael Tait? What has he been accused of? Tait was the former lead singer of Australian-formed Christian rock band Newsboys. The four-time Grammy-award winning vocalist replaced original member Peter Furler as the group's new lead vocalist in 2009. Tait officially left the group in January 2025 after 15 years. Before he performed with Newsboys, Tait was a founding member of DC Talks, a Christian rap and rock trio that released five major studio albums together. Five months after Tait abruptly left the band, The Roys Report published a years-long investigation into Tait's past, specifically allegations of unwanted sexual advances made by three male fans, who met the former frontman while on tour. Three men, who were all 22 at the time of their encounters, told the outlet that Tait befriended them and were either intoxicated or drugged when the vocalist initiated and performed non-consensual sexual acts on them. Tait made friends with the men, one crew member and two musicians, while on tour in 2004, 2010 and 2014, according to The Roys Report. Additional individuals, including one woman and four men, have come forward to share their stories about Tait, who they allege engaged in predatory behavior, or bared witness to it without intervening. The woman who spoke with Roys Report specifically claimed that Tait drugged her and watched her be sexually assaulted by a Newsboys crew member, while the four men who spoke to The Guardian said that Tait had either attempted, or had engaged in unwanted touching, sexual advances or both. The new set of allegations, published in The Guardian on June 13 and in The Roys Report on June 19 came a week after Newsboys and Tait himself addressed the contents included in the first report on social media.
