Human trafficking is everywhere. This new app makes reporting it quicker and easier
A new, first-of-its-kind app is now operating nationwide, empowering everyone to safely and anonymously report possible instances of human trafficking. This may involve either commercial, coerced sex or forced labor.
Earlier this month, Safe House Project, Congressman Pat Harrigan (R-NC) and other advocates announced the national launch of Simply Report.
The free mobile app allows downloaders to submit tips through its chat, which will provide guidance and share the information with the most appropriate law enforcement agency, if necessary.

The actual number of human trafficking instances is hard to pin down. According to the Florida Department of Children and Families' annual report, however, it received 2,137 reports of human trafficking in the 2023-24 year. Nearly 83% involved children reportedly living with a parent or other caregiver.
148 of all the reports came out of Duval County.
In addition to reporting resources, the app also offers 24/7 support services for survivors in need.
'Simply Report protects survivors' anonymity and safety by ensuring that no information is shared with law enforcement without the survivor's expressed consent. Simply Report is trauma-informed and survivor-led,' said Safe House Project

Witness testifies that Diddy dangled her over apartment balcony
Graphic designer Bryana Bongolan testified that Sean "Diddy" Combs once dangled her off a 17th floor apartment balcony, and that she saw him throw a knife at her friend Casandra Ventura. On Wednesday, prosecutors displayed photos taken by Ms Bongolan and her then-girlfriend of Ms Bongolan's bruises, which she claimed she sustained during the alleged 2016 incident. Combs' attorneys worked to cast doubt on Ms Bongolan's credibility before the jury under intense cross-examination, during which she responded that she could not recall past statements she gave the government. Combs faces charges of racketeering, conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty. The federal case, now in its fourth week of testimony, followed dozens of civil lawsuits filed against him by men and women accusing him of abuse, including both Ms Ventura, who is Combs' ex-girlfriend, and Ms Bongolan. Ms Bongolan said she met Ms Ventura in 2014 when she worked for the brand, Young and Reckless. Later, as the head women's designer at Diamond Supply Co., she was assigned to work with Ms Ventura on creating a collection and the two became close. Ms Bongolan testified they often took drugs like cocaine, ketamine and marijuana together. She later alleged that she procured drugs for Ms Ventura, and that the R&B singer paid her for them. She also acknowledged that she and Ms Ventura had a "problem" with drug use, but that she was currently sober. Ms Bongolan testified that during the friendship, she saw signs of Combs' alleged violence. She said once saw Ms Ventura on FaceTime with a black eye, and that the rapper would often pound on Ms Ventura's apartment door at night. In September 2016, Ms Bongolan testified that she heard banging on Ms Ventura's front door when she and her girlfriend were sleeping on the couch. She hid her girlfriend in a bathroom and went to the balcony, then Mr Combs entered the apartment, and allegedly picked her up and lifted her onto the ledge, she told the court. She said he repeatedly yelled, "You know what the (expletive) you did", and then threw her into the balcony furniture. Prosecutors showed the jury photos of a puncture and bruise on Ms Bongolan's leg, along with accompanying metadata displaying the date they were taken. She also testified she suffered night terrors and paranoia as a result of the evening. In another incident she described, Combs burst into Ms Ventura's apartment and allegedly threw a knife at the R&B singer. Ms Bongolan said Ms Ventura picked the knife up and threw it back. Neither of them was injured, she said. Once during a photoshoot in Malibu with Ms Ventura, Ms Bongolan alleged that Mr Combs got in her face and told her, "I'm the devil and I could kill you". "I was terrified," she told the court. During cross examination, Mr Combs' defence attorney sought to undercut Ms Bongolan, who struggled to answer questions about her statements in previous meetings with prosecutors. Nicole Westmoreland repeatedly asked Ms Bongolan about what she told government prosecutors when she first met with them in January 2024. Several times, she asked her about the alleged balcony incident, but the witness struggled to recall details she described at the initial meeting. During her testimony two weeks ago, Ms Ventura, the prosecution's key witness told the court, "I saw him bring her back over the railing of the balcony and then throw her onto the patio furniture." Ms Westmoreland also asked Ms Bongolan about her initial account of the incident in Malibu. The defence attorney said Ms Bongolan originally told government prosecutors that Combs made that threat at a party, and Ms Bongolan testified she could not recall that conversation. As the afternoon wore on, Ms Bongolan increasingly repeated that she could not recall details of previous conversations with prosecutors. At one point, Ms Westmoreland asked Ms Bongolan to recall her conversations with prosecutors two days prior. Asked about specifics, Ms Bongolan answered that she could not remember. The court also heard on Wednesday from forensic video editor Frank Piazza, who took the jury through recordings of the "Cassie video", which shows Mr Combs beating Ms Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. He explained that the recordings were untampered with and were an accurate depiction. Ms Bongolan is expected to return to the stand Thursday. Inmate dies at Jacksonville hospital before making it to Duval County Jail, police say
An inmate died at a hospital while in police custody before he made it to the Duval County Jail, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Adam Christopher Torrens, 59, was arrested on May 17 in Clay County on a violation of probation warrant out of Duval County, JSO said. JSO said Torrens' violation of probation stemmed from his local arrest on February 18, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (domestic). While in Clay County Sheriff's Office custody, Torrens was being treated at a hospital in Clay County. Torrens remained at the Jacksonville hospital until Tuesday, when he died. Steve Bannon keeps calling for Lindsey Graham to be ‘thrown in jail' for ‘stirring it up' in Ukraine
While Donald Trump largely remains silent after Ukraine's daring 'Spiderweb' drone operation in Russia, one of the president's fiercest loyalists is calling for a top Republican critic of the Kremlin to be arrested for 'stirring it up' in Kyiv. Over the weekend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) – who cosponsored a Senate measure that would slap 500 percent tariffs on countries that buy Russian energy products – visited with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. 'I would expect next week that the Senate will start moving the sanctions bill," Graham declared on Friday during a news conference in Ukraine. 'There are House members that are ready to move in the House and you will see congressional action.' 'Russia indiscriminately kills men, women and children. It's time for the world to act decisively against Russia's aggression by holding China and others accountable for buying cheap Russian oil that props up Putin's war machine,' Graham added during his Ukraine trip. The meeting with Zelensky, meanwhile, comes as Ukraine and Russia still remain far apart on ceasefire talks, resulting in Trump growing increasingly frustrated over his own efforts to bring peace to a war that he previously promised he'd end in 24 hours. This has resulted in Trump expressing his annoyance with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he has largely sympathized with throughout the war, while suggesting the administration could just walk away from peace negotiations. With MAGA raging over the Ukraine drone attacks and suggesting the 'Deep State' could be responsible for the stunning raids, Steve Bannon has directed much of his ire towards Graham. Besides saying that the White House needs to openly denounce Zelensky for the military strikes, the former Trump chief strategist is also urging Trump to punish the South Carolina lawmaker for his diplomatic trip. 'The White House has to condemn this immediately and pull all support,' Bannon exclaimed during Monday's broadcast of his War Room program. 'And tell Lindsey Graham to come home, or we are going to put you under arrest when you come home. You're stirring it up!' The far-right provocateur further accused Graham of working against Trump behind the scenes, claiming the senator promised Zelensky that he'd get the sanctions measure passed regardless of the president's support for the bill. 'He's stirring it up over there,' Bannon reiterated. Meanwhile, with Graham applauding the 'ever-resourceful Ukraine' for using 'creative drone warfare tactics to successfully attack Russian bombers and military assets,' Bannon has continued to call for the president to toss the longtime Trump ally in prison or even kick him out of the country. 'Two things ought to happen: either cancel his passport and don't let him back in the country, or put him in jail if he comes back,' Bannon told NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo on Monday night. 'Lindsey Graham is stirring it up right now, and people better wake up to the fact that we're getting sucked into this war, and if we get sucked in much more, it's going to be tough [to get out].' Still not done railing against the senator, Bannon brought it back up on Tuesday during the show handover with Real America's Voice host Eric Bolling. Asked by Bolling 'what the hell is Lindsey Graham doing in Ukraine right now,' Bannon repeated that the hawkish lawmaker was 'stirring it up' overseas before once again calling for Graham to be imprisoned. 'This is why I say he should be arrested,' he fumed. 'Either cut his passport off so he can never come back to the country, or arrest him. He's a troublemaker, and this now, he's egging the deep state on and misleading the Ukrainian people that we're all in on this.'He went on to say that the Ukrainian people 'understand the American people don't support this, and we're not gonna be there,' adding that 'we want to cut all the money off' to aiding Ukraine. At the same time, Bannon insisted that the United States is sympathetic towards Russia. 'The American people and the Russian people have no problem,' he concluded. 'We don't want to fight each other.'
