Man seriously injured in Dublin city centre stabbing

Gardaí are investigating a stabbing incident in Dublin city centre which has left one man seriously injured.
The incident took place shortly after 8:30pm on Monday on James Joyce Street.

The man received stab wounds to his left leg after another man on a bicycle allegedly stabbed him, it is understood.
Passers-by quickly came to the man's aid and managed to give him first aid. Gardaí and emergency services were soon on the scene and cordoned off the street to the public.
In a statement, gardaí said that 'an adult male sustained injuries during the course of the incident. He received treatment at the scene and was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Mater Hospital.'
His injuries are understood to be serious but not life-threatening.
Gardaí added that the scene has been preserved for forensic examination and their investigations are ongoing.

The deceased, named locally as Clodagh Ferguson, from Limerick City, was pronounced dead at the Clayton Hotel, Wednesday night. Advertisement It is understood the woman's body was found by emergency services inside a room at the hotel located at Steamboat Quay, adjacent to the River Shannon. Gardaí said they 'assisted emergency services with a medical emergency at a premises in Limerick City, 10:20pm, Wednesday 16th July'. 'A woman was pronounced deceased by ambulance personnel. No further information is available at this time,' Gardaí said. Hundreds of people posted tributes and condolences to Ms Ferguson on social media. Advertisement One friend wrote: 'Rest in Peace gorgeous girl, thinking of your little boy and your family at this time so heartbreaking.' Another stated: 'RIP Clodagh I hope you have found peace and that your little boy and family have the strength to get through this heartbreaking time xx'. Another one posted: 'Rest in peace with the angels. My condolences to your family friends and relatives. May God watch over them all.' Another woman described Ms Ferguson as 'another angel gone too soon'. 'Fly high and free condolences to her family give them strength at this sad time just heart breaking,' the woman said. Reliable sources said a post-mortem would be carried out on the woman's body Thursday to assist authorities in the cause of her death. Gardaí hope the results of the autopsy will help determine the course of their ongoing investigation.
