Whenever a movie or series is based on the Ramayana, it naturally draws viewers in. The story revolves around the life of Lord Ram, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. In the Ramayana, Lord Ram is exiled by his father, King Dasharatha, at the urging of his stepmother Kaikeyi. He is accompanied by his wife Sita and brother Lakshman for 14 years. Sita gets kidnapped by Ravana, the king of Lanka. In the end, Lord Ram defeats Ravana and returns to Ayodhya with Sita and Lakshman.
There are many versions of the Ramayana, and numerous films and OTT series have been made based on it. Ever since the release of the first teaser of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana , netizens have been celebrating every moment and scene. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
What is the budget of Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana?
Ramayana is the most expensive film ever made in India. Initially, it was reported that the film's budget would be around Rs 800 crore. However, the new report suggests that the film is now being made on a massive budget of Rs 1600 crore. The first instalment is expected to be made with a budget of Rs 900 crore, while the second will be produced with Rs 700 crore. How much are Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi being paid for the Ramayana movie?
The fees of the Ramayana star cast have become a hot topic on Google. It is being reported that Ranbir Kapoor is charging Rs 75 crore for the film, which means he could earn Rs 150 crore from both instalments. However, these reports have not been officially confirmed. Sai Pallavi, who is playing the role of Sita, is reportedly charging Rs 6 crore for the film, according to a report by Siasat.com. This means she would earn a total of Rs 12 crore from both parts.
What made Yash choose the role of Ravana?
It's not Ranbir Kapoor, but KGF star Yash, who is reportedly charging the highest fee for Ramayana. The reason behind choosing the role of Ravana over Ram is that it is the most expensive character in the film. Yash is said to be charging Rs 200 crore for the movie, Rs 100 crore for each part.

Is Bobby Deol Really Playing Kumbhakarna In Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana? Here's What We Know

Amid speculation, a source confirms Bobby Deol is not playing Kumbhakarna in Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash. The mythological epic is set for Diwali 2026. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, continues to generate massive buzz as one of Indian cinema's most ambitious upcoming projects. The mythological epic, which recently dropped its first glimpse on July 3, 2025, has already sent fans into a frenzy, thanks to its powerful ensemble and stunning visual tone. The teaser confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will take on the role of Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash playing the menacing Raavana. Joining them are Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman — all pivotal figures in the epic narrative. Amidst this excitement, reports surfaced claiming that Bobby Deol had been cast as Kumbhakarna, the slumbering giant and younger brother of Raavana. However, a reliable source has now clarified to Bollywood Hungama that the Animal actor is not part of the film. 'The reports are inaccurate. His name just cropped up all of a sudden," the source said. Emphasizing the need to distinguish between fact and speculation, the insider added, 'Ramayana is one of the most anticipated films of 2026. Given the scale of the project, casting speculations have been rife, but it is important to separate facts from rumours. Here's hoping all the speculation regarding Bobby Deol's involvement is put to rest soon." Produced on a massive scale, Ramayana is set to unfold in two parts. The first instalment will arrive on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 on Diwali 2027, promising a grand cinematic experience steeped in mythology, spectacle, and star power. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol, who was last seen in a cameo in Housefull 5, has an interesting line-up of upcoming projects. These include the Telugu period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1, the Hindi action thriller Alpha, and the Tamil film Jana Nayagan, which is set for release in 2026. First Published:
