Worst TV Sitcom Characters Of All Time

Buzz Feed5 days ago
We all have those TV characters we absolutely love! For example, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't absolutely love Sophia, Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose on The Golden Girls. But just as memorable are the ones who drive us completely up the wall. Whether they're annoying sidekicks, overly dramatic main characters, or just plain unlikeable, some sitcom figures manage to be very, very divisive.
Recently, redditor Final_Target_4274 wanted to know about the divisive sitcom characters when they asked: "Who is the worst sitcom character of all time?"
Well, people had OPINIONS! Below are the top and most often repeated sitcom characters that people just can not stand:
"Urkel on Family Matters. Dude was annoying, yet became popular, and then took over the whole fucking show. Kimmy Gibbler was similarly annoying, but never became the focal point."
—Efficient-Hornet8666
"Kimmy Gibbler on Full House. Her neediness was only surpassed by her inability to take a hint. Her awkwardness made me feel second-hand embarrassment."
—MerriweatherJones
"Rachel Green on Friends. She is a real bitch and is actually one of the worst characters in any TV show."
—LordCoke-16"Rachel is actually the most appalling. She is such a difficult character to like. Any person who likes to portray her as a victim, I immediately think less of."—Odd_Firefighter_8193
"Whoever Idris Elba was on The Office."
—Marshiznit"Charles Miner and he's aware of the effect he has on women."—Vikingaling
"Beverly Hofstadter on The Big Bang Theory must enter this chat. NOTE: I adore the actress, and I think the character is brilliant. But Beverly is objectively awful across every category. Truly nailed it."
—SkatingNerd4Life
"Seven on Married... with Children."
—VStarlingBooks"Unwatchable episodes!"—mayfare15
"I don't know if it counts, but I dislike Gene Belcher of Bob's Burgers. I dunno what rubs me wrong, maybe just the general grossness of his jokes? Or his personality. He's the weakest link."
—nazieatmyass
"Randy on Season 8 of That '70s Show. and it's not even close."
—Flat-Artichoke4289"Randy is totally inoffensive. He's a lightning rod for hate because of the circumstances of his arrival. A shame it really put the brakes on Josh Meyers' career because I thought he was great on MadTV."—Luchalma89
"Jim from According to Jim."
—FrequentLunch2711"Today, I coincidentally looked up how long this terrible show was on, and it somehow was on for eight seasons. I've never found Jim Belushi to be funny at any point in his career, including this garbage show."—PHX480
"I really liked Cheers, but I couldn't bear Diane. An awful character that I felt was really badly portrayed. I understand that many people loved her, which baffles me! Maybe her character didn't 'travel' outside the USA!"
—Automatic-Scale-7572
"Nellie from The Office."
—johndhall1130"Nellie was annoying because of the storyline. It was frustrating that she just claimed Andy's job, just because he had one day off to sort out things with Erin. That's not how jobs work."—Sean_13
"Frank Grimes from The Simpsons."
—Plane-Tie6392"Good ole Grimey…"—Madduxfan31-97
"Doug Heffernan on King of Queens. He acts like a perpetual teenager. He expects Carrie to do everything around the house despite having a demanding job of her own."
—rachel_ct
"Bernadette from The Big Bang Theory. Her character changes from one episode to another. She does a 180 within the same episode. Strong personality traits yet completely undefined as a character."
—blackrain1709
"Principal Belding on Saved by the Bell. He was obsessed with Zack and even followed him from elementary school to high school."
—szatrob
"Phoebe was the worst character on Friends. I enjoy Lisa Kudrow outside of that role. Just hate Phoebe as a character. She was a terrible friend; she almost cost all of them their jobs."
—Mr-Mortgages
"Raymond on Everybody Loves Raymond."
—Noshitsweregiven69"Fucking Ray Barone. I remember seeing a few odd episodes growing up and laughing... tried to watch from the beginning as an adult a couple of years back and that show was fucking garbage. Like, I could not even get through the first season, but it did make a lot of people's careers, so there's that, I guess."—Global_Intern_9248
"The neighbor/ carpenter guy on Schitt's Creek. I can't stand him."
—SurrrenderDorothy
"Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine is just an awful person who the rest of the cast gaslit the audience into thinking was awesome."
—JustSomeBloke5353
"The wife, Jill, from Home Improvement. She just lacked any kind of joy and was a vortex in the home that would suck up any happiness her sons or husband brought."
—Scambuster666
"Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory."
—Away_Ad_5390"THANK YOU! What an obnoxious character — and completely unrealistic that he would have any friends at all given the way he treated literally everyone who knew him like total crap."—phm522
"Tom Haverford on Parks and Rec. The character, to me, was just a bad person who had no redeeming qualities."
—skipper_jonas_grumby
"I'm sure this is unpopular, but Michael Scott. I can't fucking stand him, and every time I try to watch the show, I give up after half a season. Still haven't made it past season 5, and I don't plan to ever finish it."

How to Take Truly Great Photos of Your Friends

Anyone can grab a phone and point it at someone, but it takes a few tricks (and a lot of love) to take some really great pictures of your friends. As a portrait photographer, I've been taking pictures of people for over a decade, and while everyone is different, these are a few of my go-to tips to get the best pictures of my besties. You have your phone with you all the time, so there's no reason not to take a zillion photos of what you and your friends do together (well, no reason unless you want to avoid photographic evidence of your antics). Besides maximizing your chances of getting an awesome pic, taking a lot of photos can desensitize people to the weirdness of being photographed. This is my key to minimizing self-consciousness. Every time you hang out, just take pictures. You don't have to share them or do anything with them, but they'll be there as an option. Your friends will get used to you documenting your time together, and they'll feel comfortable in front of your lens. Related: I take photos with a lot of my photographer friends, and we've found that it always helps a little to chat before we start photographing each other. Even if you see each other all the time, there's a little getting-acquainted period when you get together. If you take photos right away, people just aren't as comfortable. Ideally, you want 15 minutes or so to reconnect before you start taking pictures. That's not always possible, though. Just give yourself as much time as you can. Anyone who has been photographed knows that it can feel a little vulnerable. That's one of the reasons people get self-conscious in front of a camera sometimes. But being vulnerable is actually a lot easier when the other person is vulnerable, too. This can mean both of you taking photos of each other (I do this with my friends a lot), but it can also mean sharing a secret or showing your emotions. Anything that draws you closer will make taking portraits more comfortable. Related: A posed photo has plenty of charm. After all, it's what most people think of when they think about being photographed. But there's also a lot of joy in candid, unposed pictures. I love taking pictures of people when I haven't planned everything out. These tend to be some of the most genuine pictures you'll get of your friends. Taking candids requires just taking a lot of pictures. Your friend might not be looking at the camera. You might capture them interacting with someone, looking at a beautiful view, or doing something they love. Look for moments when you think your friend is happy, and try to capture those. Quick Tip One of the very best times to get a good candid photo is when two people are hugging. Pick one person to photograph and take pictures from behind the person they're giving a hug. It's hard to see a photo of ourselves sometimes. We tend to notice all the things we perceive as flaws, and that can really affect how we feel about the photo. One way to minimize this self-critical impulse is to know a little about what your friends like and dislike about their appearance. Then you can highlight the things they like and hide the things they don't, and they'll be way more likely to love the pictures. For example, if your friend really doesn't love her neck and worries about a double chin, you can take pictures from a higher angle so her neck and chin aren't a major focus. I do this hiding and showing thing with pretty much everyone I photograph, and you'd be surprised how quickly it becomes second nature. Related: This should go without saying, but it's not cool to post a photo of your friend without checking first. People care about their online image, and they might not want certain pictures made public. This doesn't mean your picture isn't good (and you might love having it for your own collection), but it will make your friend feel way more comfortable knowing they get to say what gets posted. With some of my closest friends, I have blanket permission to post. You can talk about this with people you photograph a lot, especially if they are used to being in front of your lens and trust your decisions about what you think is good to share. Taking really great portraits of your friends is a special way to celebrate your relationship. It's also awesome for documenting your time together (and hint: pictures make really good gifts, too). Even better, taking photos is just fun, so lean into the joy of showing just how fantastic your friends are. Solve the daily Crossword

‘Full House' star Candace Cameron Bure says she was put on diet at 12 when she started filming hit show

Candace Cameron Bure was just 12 years old when she was faced with the intense pressures of Hollywood. Bure, now 49, candidly shared how she was placed on a diet at a young age while starring on "Full House." The actress said the decision was made out of fear. "My parents were really afraid," she explained on "The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast." She recalled how the struggles of Tracey Gold, who co-starred with her brother Kirk Cameron in "Growing Pains," changed her parents' approach to her health – Gold had battled an eating disorder and stepped away from the show to receive treatment at the time. "I had cheeks and I had thicker arms and I was, like, a normal 12-year-old, you know?" she said. "I really was a normal 12-year-old, but I had a little bit more fat on me than other kids on TV. They were just fearful that I would develop an eating disorder, just because of all of the pressures." Bure continued to say that the focus at home quickly turned to food – although her parents framed it as a lesson in developing a healthy lifestyle. "Let's make sure we make good choices with food," she remembered. "Everyone in my house was always on a diet. My mom was always on a diet. My sisters were always on a diet. I was always put on a diet. But it wasn't like, 'Oh, you have to lose weight.'" Bure's parents told her at a young age, "We want to teach you how to be healthy and exercise." While her parents may have taken steps to help Bure maintain a healthier lifestyle at a young age, the child star admitted the mindset may have backfired. "That completely shaped my viewpoint that I had about myself and the feelings about my body," she said. "I'm on TV... and I don't want to be too fat compared to other actors. My parents never wanted a producer to come up to me and say, like, 'We need your child to lose weight,' so let's do everything preventative." Bure continued to open up about her insecurities at a young age. "That very thing just shaped the way I looked at my body, which was like, 'Oh, it's not good enough the way it is right now. That kind of started young," she said, "and continued through my teenage years." Bure rose to fame at the age of 11 when she landed the role of Donna Jo "D.J." Tanner on the family television series. She starred alongside the late Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and more in "Full House." The popular television sitcom aired from 1987 until 1995.
