Monáe was styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn, who also dressed Rachel Brosnahan for the event. Mandelkorn searched for inspiration in Black culture and fashion for the occasion, embracing the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.'
'Dandyism is one of the many vibrant ways the Black community has created to channel self-expression and culture. A way to be loud and proud of who they are, and showcase the immense creativity they possess, even in the face of a society that has continuously oppressed them,' stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn told WWD via email. 'My goal was to make sure both of my clients felt like their own personal fashion sensibilities were being showcased, while also centering the Black creatives we are working with.'

Mandelkorn worked to honor Black creatives at the event, including Tazewell. 'They are all tailoring experts and are currently making Black history!'
'The Met Gala is our one chance a year to really dream our biggest fashion dreams. There are things you can do on the Met Gala carpet that would never read on another big red carpet, but at the Met, it's celebrated. We help our clients synthesize their visions, emotions, current fashion goals and strategies and make sure we are making the most of Fashion's Biggest Night,' Mandelkorn said.

Monyetta Shaw-Carter's Birthday Hits Different – She's Celebrating Life & Love After A Stage 1 Breast Cancer Battle

After battling stage 1 breast cancer, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star's special day hits different. She is turning 45 and celebrating with purpose, power, and a whole lot of pink. 'I caught the cancer early, and because of that, I will be here for my kids,' she told People . 'There's nothing more important than getting checked often and early to protect your future. Our health is irreplaceable.' Her diagnosis came after she felt an unusual sensation in her left breast last September. She didn't find a lump but told People she had a strange feeling that something was off. She listened. And that instinct saved her life. 'It was literally like my body was alerting me that something was wrong,' Monyetta said. 'It's so important for me to share this story because I hope to inspire others not to dismiss their gut feeling. Our body speaks to us, and when it does, we have to listen. It can be a matter of life or death.' One month after that self-check, a mammogram confirmed she had stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent a lumpectomy in January and completed 16 rounds of radiation by May 2. Now, weeks later, she's bringing her loved ones together for a joyful, pink-powered birthday bash. Her party honors life, resilience, and sisterhood. Monyetta credits her husband, Heath Carter, for being her rock through it all. She also had the support of her ex-fiancé, singer NE-YO, with whom she shares two children. 'NE-YO was just showing up for me in a major way and just always asking and making sure everything was okay,' she recalled in a recent interview. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're gonna beat this.'' Her RHOA circle also showed up with love. Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton, and Shereé Whitfield all supported. For Monyetta Shaw-Carter, breast cancer is real but not unbeatable. So why not celebrate? As the founder of Keep It Classy Nails , a mother of four, and a businesswoman, she wants Black women everywhere to trust their instincts, take care of themselves, and live on their own terms. 'I'm stepping into this new chapter with deeper gratitude, unstoppable faith, and a whole new glow,' she wrote on Instagram. 'But Cher is Cher. Diana Ross is Diana. Mitzi Gaynor, totally different. You have to know who you're dressing. Their body, their energy, their essence.'That essence has defined some of fashion's most unforgettable moments. I ask him about the Met Gala, and his eyes light up. '1974. I went with Cher. It was quiet when we walked in… and then, boom. Hundreds of photographers. That dress is still in papers every year.'Even now, he speaks of Cher not just with pride, but with the affection of a creative soulmate. They understood each other without needing to it's not all sequins and applause. In the documentary, Mackie revealed something far more intimate: a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters he never knew he had.'It was a shock,' he says. 'But when I saw their pictures—I thought, they look like my son. They look like me.'He beams as he describes them—smart, sweet, and stylish, with a fondness for vintage shopping and a family full of creative women.'They've got great taste,' he adds, grinning. 'One's even got a stylist aunt in LA.' Mackie isn't interested in slowing down. He's still designing, still dreaming, but these days he chooses his projects carefully—joy is the driver now.'I don't do it every day like I used to,' he says. 'But when I do? I still love it.'And the advice for young designers hoping to follow in his footsteps?'Work for someone whose style you admire. Learn from them. But don't copy them.
