(sic) The backlash against Diljit The film 'Sardaar Ji 3' has sparked controversy because it stars Hania Aamir, a Pakistani actress, at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan. Several Indian film worker associations, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), have raised objections. They claim that casting a Pakistani actor hurts national sentiments and have even called for a ban on Diljit and his upcoming projects in India. Diljit Dosanjh speaks up Responding to the growing criticism, Diljit Dosanjh recently shared his side of the story. He told BBC Asian Network that the film was shot before any political tension had started and explained why it will not be released in India. He said, 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in February and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi.' He further added, 'Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.' Diljit made it clear that the team behind 'Sardaar Ji 3' had no idea the political situation would turn so serious. Since then, the makers have decided to release the film only in international markets. 'Sardaar Ji 3' won't release in India Directed by Amar Hundal, 'Sardaar Ji 3' is all set to hit overseas cinemas on 27 June. However, it will not be shown in Indian theatres.
