Covington Police attach tracking device on car before it speeds off
Dashcam video posted by Covington Police shows a deputy following a car suspected to be stolen and launching a tracking device that attached to the car's license plate.
Police were recently alerted about a stolen car with the assistance of Flock Cameras, or license plate readers, positioned around Covington, the city posted on Facebook.
Deputies found the car driving around the city and attempted to pull it over, but the driver started to pull away.
Video shows that before the car sped off, the deputy launched the Starchase device from the front of their patrol car and it attached to the back of the suspect's car.
Police say the deputy was able to back off from the fleeing car, and the suspect was tracked to another location and arrested.
The car was returned to the owner and the suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle, and attempting to elude, the City of Covington posted on Facebook.

Two people led Thurston deputies on a chase after allegedly stealing from Nike store
Video posted by the Thurston County Sheriff (TCSO) shows deputies chasing an SUV with two people inside following an alleged theft at a Nike store in Centralia, TCSO posted on Facebook. On May 11, deputies were alerted to one person stealing from the store and then seen getting into a red SUV, which drove off onto I-5 northbound, the sheriff says. Thurston deputies say they found the SUV and tried to pull it over, but the driver started to flee. Dashcam shows a deputy chasing the SUV at high speed on I-5, and at one point, the patrol car deployed a Starchase GPS tracking device, but it did not stick to the vehicle. The SUV got off I-5 at the DuPont exit and slammed into a wall on the right side of the road, then went across the road, hitting another wall on the left side before a patrol car pinned the SUV. One suspect was arrested for the alleged theft and an active warrant, while the alleged getaway driver was booked for eluding police, reckless endangerment, and possession of stolen property, TCSO said.

Deputies arrest DUI suspect after high-speed pursuit through King County, sheriff's office says
A driver who nearly hit a deputy head-on was arrested for DUI and eluding law enforcement following a high-speed pursuit through King County, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. The incident began around 4 a.m. on April 26 when a deputy was driving south on 51st Avenue South. According to the sheriff's office, a Mercedes suddenly veered into the deputy's lane, nearly causing a head-on crash. The deputy said he was only able to avoid a collision by swerving out of the way. The deputy activated his emergency lights and sirens and began pursuing the vehicle, which was reportedly swerving and traveling at speeds of 80 mph in a 35-mph zone. The driver fled onto South 277th Street, then north on State Route 167, and eventually onto Interstate 405. Additional deputies joined the pursuit as it continued on the freeway. One deputy used a Starchase GPS tracking system, which allowed law enforcement to safely monitor the vehicle without an extended chase. The suspect was eventually boxed in and brought to a stop. Deputies said they found an open case of beer inside the vehicle, along with several loose beer caps in the center console. The driver was taken to Valley Medical Center for a blood draw and then booked into King County Jail. Charges include attempting to elude police and Operating While Under the Influence (DUI).
