iRacing Arcade Is Real and Coming This Fall

Yahooa day ago
It's no secret that I love racing games, even the unrealistic ones. (Depending on who is making them, especially the unrealistic ones.) Still, I've done my time in iRacing over the years, and if I 1) was willing to carve out more room in my apartment and 2) had the attention span to actually hone my abilities, I'd probably still be playing it today. It's pricey, but it really is the best simulator. iRacing, the company, is expanding its horizons these days, though, rescuing the NASCAR license and dabbling in the futuristic though still technically rich ExoCross. Still, I never quite expected it to release a game with 'Arcade' in the title.
But indeed, iRacing Arcade is coming this fall—and it looks familiar. It's actually developed by Original Fire Games, the same indie team that brought the world Circuit Superstars a couple of years ago. I happened to review that one, and though it wasn't exactly my cup of tea—I struggle with isometric driving games, where you control cars from above—the charm and attention to detail were clear. iRacing Arcade looks, conservatively, very similar to it, with a few obvious changes.
First off, we have licensed cars and tracks, which is cool. Look—I don't think expensive automaker licenses should stand in the way of a good racing game, but touches like 911 GT3 Cup cars on track, and venues like Imola and Mexico City do a lot to lend a game authenticity, especially with younger players who want to drive what they recognize and already love.
The second standout detail is that the gameplay screenshots show a chase cam perspective, which is something that Circuit Superstars didn't allow. In fact, it seems iRacing Arcade is totally built for this more conventional vantage point, as the Steam page makes no mention of an isometric option. Additionally, a career mode where players 'invest in buildings, new cars, skilled drivers, or customizations that showcase [their] team's brand' also teases a level of single-player depth that Original Fire's last game lacked. Pit strategy should still factor into the on-track action, judging from the screenshots.
iRacing Arcade is coming to PC via Steam this fall, and a release on consoles (you've got to imagine one of them is the Switch 2) should follow early next year. It's not quite the iRacing console release some have pined for, but it's bound to get some younger enthusiasts dreaming about building sim rigs of their own one day. With the price of components being what they are, start saving your pennies now, kids.

Canvas City Reimagines Turn-Based Tactics with Skaters, Style, and Street Art

Canvas City Reimagines Turn-Based Tactics with Skaters, Style, and Street Art originally appeared on GameDaily. Independent studio Disc 2 Games, in collaboration with Black Salt Games (the team behind DREDGE), has announced its debut title Canvas City, a fresh turn-based tactics RPG where rebellion, performance, and creativity collide. Canvas City is a stylish new turn-based tactics RPG debuting from indie studio Disc 2 Games. Players lead rebellious skaters and artists using movement, tricks, and style to fight an oppressive regime. Launching on PC and Nintendo Switch, the game is now available to wishlist on Steam. Set in a vibrant but tightly controlled urban landscape, Canvas City puts players in charge of a crew of skaters and street artists determined to push back against an oppressive regime. Unlike traditional tactics games where units simply move from point to point, Canvas City transforms movement into performance. Rails, ramps, and vertical terrain allow players to chain tricks mid-turn, earning Style Points that unlock powerful abilities. 'Movement isn't just getting from one spot to another—it's part of the plan,' explains Technical Director Kris Nicholson. This emphasis on flow and creativity reshapes the strategy genre, offering new ways to think about positioning and combat. The game's world is equally distinctive. Instead of armies and knights, rival factions include corporate-sponsored squads, wild performance artists, and crews of dancers and musicians. Each battle comes with its own personality, amplified by a dynamic soundtrack that shifts between heavy percussion and bright synths to match the fighting crews. Players can recruit up to 12 unique characters across the campaign, each with their own skills, backstory, and tricks. With more than 80 abilities to master, players will uncover the truth behind the city's cultural crackdown while upgrading their crew and customizing their Garage hub. Currently in development for PC and Nintendo Switch, Canvas City is available to wishlist on Steam. The game will support English, German, French, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese at launch. Disc 2 Games describes Canvas City as a love letter to tactical classics with a rebellious twist—infusing the genre with energy, artistry, and performance. The Rogue Prince of Persia is officially out for PC and consoles

Ubisoft and Evil Empire's long-awaited The Rogue Prince of Persia is finally out and available for purchase. It's been in early access on Steam for over a year and the developers have made plenty of changes during that time to get the game ready for a general launch. It's available for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. It's also playable in the cloud by using the Xbox Cloud service, Ubisoft+ and Amazon Luna. Nintendo fans will have to wait a bit longer. The game's coming to the Switch and Switch 2, but not until later this year. For the uninitiated, The Rogue Prince of Persia is a sidescrolling roguelike with plenty of fast-paced action and a graceful move set inspired by other games in the franchise. Co-developer Evil Empire is the company behind the iconic Dead Cells , which is also a sidescrolling roguelike. Since launching in early access, developers have added more biomes and a new story, in addition to refining the gameplay and character designs. If you've been hankering for a new roguelike with some light Metroidvania elements (just like Dead Cells ), this could be the game you've been waiting for. It costs $30.
