Josh Barrie On the Sauce at Cinco: the Pope might have liked it here
And then a drink called doña mago, a tangy, smoky version of a margarita made with raicilla, a Mexican agave spirit from Jalisco in the south-west of the country. Heard of it? Nor me. It was mixed with tomato liquor, plum sake, chilli, tomato and plum cordial. Forgive my blasphemy — but Jesus Christ, what a drink. I've not been this enamoured by something new in a coupe since my first Hemingway daiquiri at Raoul's in Oxford way back in 2008. I see they're on at One Club Row: canny.

Donald Trump labelled 'embarrassment' after 'baffling' move amid LA protests
Unrest continues in LA, and matters appear to have become worse over the weekend, but President Trump has been labelled an "embarassment" following a "baffling" move Outrage has sparked against President Donald Trump for what many are calling a "totally baffling" decision amidst escalating protests in Los Angeles. The city witnesses turmoil, symbolised by a bare-chested man hoisting a Mexican flag on a blazing car and another lobbing a traffic cone into the flames. Witnessed by Americans across the nation, downtown LA has morphed into a vision of anarchy and disorder as initial peaceful demonstrations took an ominous turn. This backdrop of upheaval has seen Trump attracting flak for making an absolutely bewildering move amid the chaos - and he's since been deemed an "embarrassment." On Sunday, with the situation in LA deteriorating, the White House's Instagram account flaunted photos of President Trump at the UFC 316 event on Saturday night at the Prudential Centre, posting them with the caption: "President Donald J. Trump at @UFC 316 @DanaWhite." Joined by UFC President Dana White, Trump was seen striding to his ringside spot at UFC 316 to the tunes of Kid Rock's "American Bad A**'" Notably, this appearance mirrors their attendance at a UFC event in November at Madison Square Garden, which was also attended by Elon Musk. While Trump was busy greeting fans at the event, the snaps circulating online have sparked less than enthusiastic reactions. Many believe he should be tackling the nation's issues rather than attending such gatherings during these tumultuous times. One individual remarked: "Is this is to distract you from what's going on in LA with ICE and the National Guard, and the bill that will add trillions to our debt?" Another commented: "Doing anything but working." A third sarcastically added: "Glad he's focused on what's important right now. Reality TV star." Meanwhile, fourth person also shared their dismay: "Such an embarrassment." Another joined in, saying: "This guy is busy watching UFC while his country falls apart - unreal." Although some of Trump's supporters offered praise, many were disgruntled by the images shared. Furthermore, a significant number of Trump's detractors are incensed by his audacious move to send National Guard troops to LA, defying the state governor's preferences, which they argue has only heightened tensions. Over the weekend, the 101 Freeway was shut for the majority of the day due to clashes between police and demonstrators. The confrontations resulted in objects being hurled at the police, who retaliated with tear gas and rubber bullets. Trump's decision to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, without consulting the California governor or LA mayor, has sparked controversy. Hundreds of these troops were seen patrolling the streets on Sunday, tasked with protecting federal buildings. This move comes after two days of protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. As part of Trump's stringent border policy, ICE has been instructed to locate, detain and deport as many illegal immigrants as possible. These raids triggered initial protests on Friday, which escalated over the weekend. By Sunday afternoon, protesters had gathered around the military outside the Metropolitan Detention Centre in downtown LA. This is where several immigrants were detained before being transferred to detention facilities. Graffiti laden with expletives has appeared on walls and floors, including statements such as: "F*** ICE." The Los Angeles police soon intervened, dispersing the crowd and creating a barrier between the National Guard and protesters. California Governor Gavin Newsom has criticised the president's actions, labelling them as those of a "dictator, not a president". He has formally requested that the Trump administration withdraw the National Guard. However, The White House insists the military will remain until peace is restored, with an additional five hundred marines reportedly on standby. Despite initially not seeking assistance from the National Guard, the escalating chaos has led him to reconsider his initial judgement.
