KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Malaysian girl group Dolla has shown support for K-pop group KIIRAS after three of its members took part in the viral MWA! dance challenge.
KIIRAS members Lingling, Kylie and Roah uploaded a video on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube yesterday, performing the choreography to Dolla's hit comeback single, MWA!.
'LOVEEE! Support Lingling,' wrote Dolla member Angel on X along with a Malaysian flag emoji, reposting the video alongside fellow member Tabby.
Lingling, Malaysia's first female K-pop idol hailing from Klang, joined two of her KIIRAS groupmates for the challenge.
The video quickly gained traction online with over 67,300 views and rising at the time of writing.
Fans on social media expressed excitement over the crossover, with several highlighting the Malaysian connection between Lingling and Dolla.
Comments like 'MAKA KAMI RAKYAT MALAYSIA' and 'MENYALAHHH ORANG KLANGGG' appeared across X, referencing both the idols' heritage and energy.
Fans also called for a collaboration between the two groups, with one user tweeting, 'Okeii KIIRAS x DOLLA crumbssss??'
Fans also took to social media to make requests directly to Dolla, with one user tagging Dolla members Angel, Tabby and the official group account @dollaofficialMY in a post asking, 'KILL MA BOSS challenge please?'
Kill Ma Bo$$ is KIIRAS' debut track, featuring a confident, country-western concept with bold visuals and strong choreography, marking a departure from their pre-debut image and positioning the group as a rising force in the K-pop scene.
Dolla, formed in Malaysia in 2019, has been making waves in the regional music scene with its blend of pop, R&B and powerful visuals, with MWA! being their latest release.
KIIRAS, which debuted earlier this year with multinational members, has gained attention — especially Lingling, who is breaking new ground as a Malaysian talent in K-pop.

Malaysia's original superhero returns: Astro Shaw unveils next phase of ‘Keluang Man' franchise with ‘Baling' film, new live-action series

KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — It has been several weeks since the May 29 nationwide release of the much-anticipated live-action film featuring Malaysia's original superhero, Keluang Man. Since its debut, the majority of Malaysians have shown great appreciation for the film, with many praising its nostalgic '90s vibe and the distinctly Malaysian soundtrack woven throughout. However, the most widespread acclaim has undoubtedly gone to the lead actor Nas Muammar Zar (Nas-T) for his performance as Borhan, also known as Keluang Man, as his portrayal of the character and unique acting style have been especially well received. While the film has received praise, it has also raised questions about the future of the Keluang Man franchise and the broader Astro Shaw Cinematic Universe (ASCU), which was announced last year. Questions remain about the future development of the concept, in addition to what lies ahead for the Keluang Man franchise. Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, head of Astro Shaw, said that the Keluang Man franchise universe will continue with the film Baling, to be showcased next in the universe. 'While Keluang Man was based on the original 90s animation by Kamn Ismail, Baling will draw from a folklore that many Malaysians may find familiar. 'It will incorporate elements of a Malaysian story that audiences might recognise,' she said, adding, 'It is going to be darker than Keluang Man.' Raja Jastina Raja Arshad stated the Astro Shaw Cinematic Universe will continue as planned. — Picture by Choo Choy May As for the Keluang Man films, the sequel will still move forward, but before the planned sequel, a live-action Keluang Man series will be released. 'It's not a continuation; it's something fresh, though the character of Borhan will still be there. "This is the next stage of Keluang Man, and it's slightly different from how we're approaching the next chapter of Keluang Man, which will be presented as an original series," said Jastina. The story is currently in development, but director Answari Ashraf will return to take the lead for the series. The release is tentatively planned for late next year or early the following year, though no official date has been set. Regarding the future of the whole ASCU, Jastina confirmed that it is still moving forward, where characters under Astro Shaw will come together in an ultimate convergence film in 2028. 'There are no changes in terms of what we're planning to deliver. It's just that we might add a few things or move some elements forward.'

Penang-born ‘Mind Your Language' actress dies aged 80

Lim Pik-Sen's role in 'Mind Your Language' made her the most recognisable Chinese actress on British TV throughout the 1970s and 1980s. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Lim Pik-Sen, the Penang-born actress best known for her role as Chung Su-Lee in the British sitcom 'Mind Your Language', has died at the age of 80. Pik-Sen rose to fame in the late 1970s as Su-Lee, a Chinese student whose broken English and Mao Zedong quotes brought comic relief to the classroom in the hit British TV series. Her character, with her trademark 'little Red Book', became one of the most recognisable figures on British television, and a familiar face in both the UK and Malaysia. Pik-Sen, the daughter of businessman Lim Cheng Teik, died on Monday, according to tributes shared by friends and colleagues. Actor Daniel York, who worked with her on stage and in audio dramas, remembered her warmly on Facebook: 'She was a joy – full of love, laughter and mischief. Her gift for comedy made you feel safe on stage. That unique voice and bold energy carried us all. 'We've shared the same agent for over 25 years. She'll be deeply missed,' he said. With Mr Jeremy Brown (Barry Evans) in an episode of 'Mind Your Language'. (YouTube pic) Fans of 'Mind Your Language' also paid tribute on a dedicated Facebook group with more than 675,000 members. 'She was the greatest follower of Chairman Mao,' joked actor Rafsan Tahmid, referencing one of Su-Lee's iconic lines from the show. The British Film Institute once described Pik-Sen as 'the most recognisable Chinese actor on British television throughout the 1970s and 1980s'. Before her sitcom fame, Pik-Sen had already broken ground on British TV. In the 1960s, she played Nurse Kwei in 'Emergency Ward 10', one of Britain's earliest medical dramas. Her role as a fluent English-speaking Chinese nurse who falls in love with a doctor was considered pioneering at the time. In a 1984 interview with The Straits Times, Pik-Sen recalled the stir she caused when she posed for publicity photos in a mini-cheongsam during the height of the miniskirt era. The image made headlines in conservative Penang. Her father, who had never visited her in London, only saw her on TV when the show aired in Malaysia. 'So you don't take off your clothes after all,' he quipped. Despite being fluent in English, Pik-Sen had to train herself to speak in broken English for her role in 'Mind Your Language', purposely mixing up her Ls and Rs. 'I had to say things like 'fom' instead of 'from', and 'evely' for 'every'. It was pretty corny,' she admitted. 'Till today, my husband insists my English got worse after the series.'
