Carlos Saldanha Wraps Principal Photography on Sea-Crossing Drama ‘100 Days' (EXCLUSIVE)
Carlos Saldanha, known for animated hits such as 'Rio' and 'Ice Age,' has completed principal photography on '100 Days,' his first live-action feature. The film, shot in Brazil, dramatizes the real-life solo transatlantic row of Brazilian explorer Amyr Klink and stars Filipe Bragança, Felipe Camargo and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
Global Constellation will handle international sales for '100 Days.' The project has attracted attention for its ambitious production scope and multinational collaboration, including Brazil's Ventre Studio ('Godless John'), Boipeba, Madremidia, O2 Filmes ('City of God'), Total Post and Disney Group, as well as Finland's well-connected Good Hand Production.

'Directing my first live-action feature in Brazil was a crash course in creativity, grit, and human connection,' said Saldanha in a statement. 'The Brazilian crew's passion and resourcefulness, paired with the cast's talent and generosity, turned impossible tasks into collective victories, like constructing a sprawling indoor water tank in a warehouse in São Paulo or battling the open sea's chaos with nothing but ingenuity and nerve. Every hurdle became a bonding moment, infused with the warmth of a big family reunion.'
The film recounts the journey of Amyr Klink, who in 1984 became the first person to row across the Atlantic Ocean. The production navigated both logistical and environmental challenges to bring the story to life on screen.
Producer Paula Cosenza highlighted the unique scope of the project. 'We always saw the film as a potent story that could move people all over the world. '100 Days' is not only the first Finnish/Brazilian co-production but a co-production within Brazil itself, with Ventre Studio, Boipeba, Madremidia, O2, Total Post and Disney Group joining forces to make one of the most audacious productions of the year. In such a fantastic moment for Brazilian cinema, we are thrilled to entrust the film to Global Constellation's super-experienced and exciting team.'
Associate producers Roosa Toivonen and Kemppinen of Finland's Good Hand Production added, 'For us, it is utterly inspiring to work with Carlos, Paula and their team on this wonderful film that truly and literally crosses continents.'
Fabien Westerhoff, Managing Director, Film Global Constellation tells Variety: 'From 'Rio' to 'Ferdinand' to 'Scrat,' Carlos has created some of the most iconic family entertainment characters in recent history. We can't wait for buyers to discover his newest adventure, embarking on an epic journey of survival across the sea. A visually stunning tale of a man overcoming an impossible athletic feat.'
The Finnish production house also brought in Totalpost Finland, a consortium that includes Energia VFX, James Post and Helea Sound Post Production. Renowned Finnish composer Tuomas Kantelinen is scoring the film.
'100 Days' is now entering post-production, with a release date to be announced.

Marimekko Applies its Iconic Patterns to Artek Furniture
Two of Finland's biggest design companiesArtekandMarimekkohave joined forces on a collection of furniture that jointly celebrates their creative heritage. The 'Artek + Marimekko' collection, set to debut at this year's 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen next week, sees a series of Artek pieces designed by Alvar Aaalto updated with Marimekko patterns. Included in the collection is a Stool 60, Bench 153B, and Table 90D, which Aalto designed between 1933 and 1945. The three prints have been chosen from Marimekko's 'Arkkitehti' series, which was designed by Maija Isola and have gone on to become some of the brand's most recongnisable patterns. Rather than simply applying the prints to the surface of the furniture, the team of craftspeople at Artek have replicated the 'Lokki', 'Seireeni' and 'Kivet' motifs using marquetry techniques. 'Using marquetry on a veneer top surface, the patterns shimmer as they interact with movement and light,' Artek says. 'The collection reflects Artek and Marimekko's pursuit to create long-lasting design, and the production process of this marquetry technique minimises wood waste.' The Artek + Marimekko collection is the latest in a series of collaborations that celebrate the brand's 90th anniversary. It follows on from alimited-edition range featuring Moomin characters, developed by Finnish artist Tove Jansson in 1945, and is joined by a commemorative poster designed by Finnish contemporary artist Inka Bell. While the pieces won't officially launch until September this year, they will be previewed in an installation designed by Linda Bergoth during 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, which will be open from June 17 to 21.

‘Lay of the Land' at Root Division
'Lay of the Land' features 14 Bay Area-based artists making work about the environment. Co-curated by Naomi Alessandra Schultz, Julianna Heller and Eleanor Scholz O'Leary, the show includes painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, textiles, installation, collage and assemblage. The works on view seek to 're-engage nature and place through personal histories' with featured artists including Jeremiah Barber, Shao-Feng Hsu, Sun Park and Catherine Wang McMahon. The exhibition is partly inspired by the philosophy of Finnish new media theorist and professor in digital aesthetics Jussi Parikka, who wrote '[Art practice benefits] from unfocusing; to train oneself to observe what appears out of sight … to cultivate an understanding of the structural complexity and agency of our environment.' By employing methods akin to Parikka's idea of unfocused observing, each artist seeks to be attuned to the unseen in landscapes, and 'Lay of the Land' hopes to offer unique ways of experiencing environments through art.

ICE Says TikTok Star Khaby Lame Detained and Told to Leave U.S.
Originally appeared on E! Online Khaby Lame was allegedly told to leave the United States. The TikToker, who is among the world's most followed users on the popular video app, was asked to leave the country after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials said he 'overstayed the terms of his visa,' immigration officials told NBC News. The Italian Senegalese creator (full name Seringe Khabane Lame) entered the U.S. on April 30 but was later detained at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas June 6 and granted 'voluntary departure,' according to an ICE spokesperson. Days after entering the country, Lame—who is popular for his wordless, straight-faced parody videos mocking other influencers—attended the 2025 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. While Lame has not responded to NBC News' request for comment, Sharks Celebrities Mgmt.—an agency that represents the 25-year-old—said in a statement to NBC News that the ICE report is 'fake news' and that Lame 'did not visit the USA this month to begin with.' 'He had worked with a few of my friends,' Loudon said in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter) June 9. 'They told me that his visa was revoked three years ago.' 'I just called some buddies in the administration,' he continued. 'And I've never seen anything happen so quick.' Since the reported date of Lame's departure from the U.S., the influencer—who is also a goodwill ambassador for the humanitarian aid organization UNICEF—has continued to post on his social media, including a clip from the stands of a Brazilian national soccer team match in São Paulo, Brazil, shared to his Instagram Story June 10.
