Oman, Iraq to enhance judicial and legal ties
The visit of the Iraqi official aims at strengthening cooperation between the judicial institutions of the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to develop judicial and legal relations, expand areas of joint cooperation, exchange expertise and activate training and technical programmes — measures that would positively impact the performance of the justice system and enhance its efficiency.
The two sides also reviewed a number of topics of mutual interest, most notably modernising court procedures, developing legal training mechanisms and improving the quality of judicial services while expediting litigation processes.
The Iraqi delegation was briefed on key aspects of Oman's experience in developing its judicial work environment, particularly in areas related to digital transformation and leveraging technology to serve justice — ensuring improved litigant experiences and higher institutional efficiency.
Al Busaidy emphasised that this visit represents an important step towards strengthening judicial relations between Oman and Iraq, noting that the exchange of knowledge and expertise is a fundamental pillar for advancing judicial work and building effective strategic partnerships. — ONA

By OMAN NEWS AGENCY (ONA) London – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street on Wednesday where the two leaders discussed ways to deepen the strategic partnership between Oman and the United Kingdom. The meeting reviewed existing cooperation and reaffirmed the shared commitment to broadening ties across economic, investment and trade sectors, in line with the mutual aspirations for greater prosperity. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments. His Majesty the Sultan welcomed the United Kingdom's intention to recognise the State of Palestine and reiterated Oman's firm support for all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution. PM Starmer praised Oman's constructive role under His Majesty the Sultan's leadership in promoting dialogue and peace, and contributing to regional and international security and stability. The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of Private Office; and Badr bin Mohammed al Mandhari, Ambassador of Oman to the United Kingdom. Representing the UK were Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser, and Dr Lianne Saunders, British Ambassador to Oman.

Vacancy for Oman's Assistant Public Prosecutor announced
Muscat – The Supreme Judicial Council has announced a vacancy for the position of Assistant Public Prosecutor in coordination with Ministry of Labour. The position is open to Omani nationals holding a bachelor's degree in law or sharia law from recognised universities or higher education institutes. According to the council, applicants must meet several eligibility requirements, including good conduct, no previous convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude or dishonesty, nor dismissal from government service. Additionally, applicants should not currently be employed in a government or military unit, nor in a company wholly or partially owned by the government, unless officially resigned for at least one full year. Applicants must not be older than 30 years at the time of applying. The selection process includes aptitude tests, personal interviews and a mandatory medical examination. Required documents when applying include a copy of the national ID card, copies of academic certificates and transcripts, along with proof of equivalency for certificates obtained from outside Oman, copies of training certificates and relevant experience, and a recent personal photo. The council emphasised that any application not meeting the stated requirements, or submitted through channels other than the official electronic link, will not be considered. Applications will be accepted online till July 29, 2025 via The Supreme Judicial Council stressed that it will not accept applications outside the announced timeframe or submitted without the required documents.

ONA at Baku Shusha Global Media Forum
BAKU: Oman News Agency (ONA) participated in the third edition of the Shusha Global Media Forum, held in the city of Shusha, the Republic of Azerbaijan. The forum aims to enhance international media cooperation and discuss current challenges facing the media amidst rapid technological advancements. It also seeks to explore the prospects of digital transformation and ways to combat rumours while boosting media credibility. Forum sessions also include discussions on press freedom, the evolution of artificial intelligence in newsrooms and the importance of media in building bridges of cultural understanding among peoples. The event facilitates the exchange of expertise among various international media institutions. Approximately 140 media experts and specialists from 52 countries are participating in the forum. This includes representatives from over 30 news agencies, seven international organisations and nearly 80 media institutions, alongside Azerbaijani media officials and representatives. - ONA
