Jamie Laing makes cryptic five-word dig at Spencer Matthews amid feud

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Jamie Laing has shared his thoughts on once best pal Spencer Matthews after the former Made In Chelsea duo's relationship seemingly soured
Jamie Laing has opened up about his tense relationship with former Spencer Matthews co-star Spencer Matthews. The former pals have reportedly been feuding in recent years, with many speculated reasons flying about.
The once best pals have had tension since Jamie married Sophie Habboo. Spencer was surprisingly not invited to the duo's first wedding in the UK in 2023. Then, at the Spanish ceremony, Spencer reportedly acted in a bd manner. It's claimed that Spencer was also unimpressed with Jamie's charity run, with extreme athletic stunts said to have been Spencer's "thing."

Despite that, Jamie raised millions for Comic Relief thanks to his efforts. Now, after being asked about their friendship, Jamie made a candid five-word confession.

Speaking to You Magazine, Jamie called his fellow TV star "hard to get along with" as he candidly opened up on their friendship. "Look, what can I say? I love Spencer, I really love him so much, and I don't think he'd mind me saying this… um… look, Spencer's a hard person to be friends with," he said.
"We were thick as thieves for a long time, but I think what happens is family and life. From my side, I have no jealousy towards him whatsoever. I only love and adore him more than anything in the entire world. I still consider him one of my closest friends, and I'm godfather to his daughter. But, yeah… I mean… You would have to ask him."

Jamie reiterated his adoration for his once best pal before again adding it would have to be Spencer who answered why they are no longer as close as they once were.
The reality TV star also recently opened up on how he and his wife broke Buckingham Palace rules with a cheeky Meghan Markle-inspired twerk. The moment left King Charles laughing with an awkward etiquette blunder.

Shortly before attending the annual King's Trust Awards in June, the duo admitted that an initial faux-pas from Sophie, 30, prompted a subsequent photo in which the monarch appears to laugh at the couple.
In the image, which sparked a social media storm, the pair appeared to poke fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's notorious pregnancy twerk video during their trip to the Palace.
The moment raised eyebrows after they cheekily filmed themselves on the Grand Staircase at the Palace, which has been traversed by Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses.

While the moment of Sophie and Jamie filming was a breach in protocol, palace aides fortunately found the funny side. On its official Instagram account 'theroyalfamily' replied to Jamie's post, adding: 'We see you' accompanied by a pair of eyes and a wink emojis.
The King's Trust entered the conversation in the spirit of the occasion with the quip: 'All of our attendees are very well behaved.'

Mother 'broken' after Brit, 26, dies in fall from Ibiza balcony

Tributes are pouring in for a British man who died after falling at a popular Ibiza hotel. Evan Thomson, 26, from Aberdeen, was in Spain for a belated birthday celebration when he fell at Ibiza Rocks Hotel on July 7. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Spain's Guardia Civil police force is currently investigating what happened. Tributes have been paid to the popular Scotsman. His mum, Lel Kellighan, wrote on Facebook: 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. 'We are all absolutely broken.' Ibiza Rocks, known for its famous DJ sets, said in a statement that Evan's death was 'truly tragic' and 'extremely sad'. 'Our senior management team onsite did everything possible to help the police with their investigation into events leading up to Evan's death, and to provide constant support from our customer services manager to Evan's friends,' they said. 'That has included them having 24-hour access to our senior manager for any help or questions, and giving them permission to pass on her mobile number to Evan's family should they wish to call us directly. 'They were very appreciative of all the help and support at such a difficult time. We are deeply saddened by Evan's death, and our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends at this truly difficult time.' On Facebook, friends shared memories with Evan. Vikki Greig wrote: 'My heart has broken since finding out, the biggest smile in any room!! He was always one of my favourite customers to see at work. 'Absolutely heartbreaking! Thinking of all of Evan's family at this time, rest easy boyo, you will be massively missed!' Ethan Cran wrote: 'What a good guy he was, always the life of the party. My condolences go out to his family and friends during these tough times.' Earlier this year, another British woman died at the adults-only Ibiza Rocks Hotel following the opening of the party season in the Spanish resort. The 33-year-old had collapsed in her room in the resort of San Antonio, unconscious and not breathing. More Trending Emergency services spent around 40 minutes performing CPR on her to try to revive her, but without success. Spanish media reported that the unnamed woman was suffering health problems. It is understood that she had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, a small battery-powered device fitted under the collarbone to monitor heartbeats and treat abnormal heart rhythms using electric impulses. It is commonly used by people at high risk of serious arrhythmias, and it delivers a shock if it detects one. ITV The Chase fans call for show to make major change after rival show axed

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase fans have voiced their concerns on social media after the Spanish version of the beloved quiz show faced cancellation earlier this year, raising fears for the UK version. Launched in 2009 with Bradley Walsh at the helm, The Chase has been a popular staple of the mid-evening schedule for over a decade and a half. Following the axing of the Spanish equivalent, El Cazador, which ended its run in April 2025 due to declining viewer numbers, devotees are proposing that the British series could benefit from an overhaul in certain areas. One Reddit user suggested: "The show isn't as fresh as it used to be and could do with them trying out new things to freshen up the formula." However, a die-hard fan countered: "I disagree. The format is good as is. Spain tried changing the format last year and now the show is being cancelled. (Image: ITV) "Australia also changed some things this year which I believe made the show worse and more complicated than it needs to be." The suggestion from viewers to revive interest include a revamp of the final chase round. One commentator argued that the current buzzer system hampers contestants, mentioning: "The guests having to press their buzzers and wait for their name, when the Chaser does not. That's like a solid 10-15 seconds bonus", reports the Express. One fan recently shared their perspective on taking part, commenting: "I fully agree - I still want to go on and give it a go. That's why winning money isn't the satisfying part, it's more about winning against some of the best at [memorising] facts." (Image: Getty) Another viewer suggested a format change to exclude asking teammates for advice on deal offers, saying: "The 'ask your team mates' part is laughably pointless. "For one, it has no influence on what the person is going to choose. Secondly, they all say the exact same thing. 'You could definitely do the higher offer, but stick with the middle and come home.'". Despite these criticisms, the hit quiz show remains a firm favourite among UK audiences. The most recent series, broadcast from January to March, boasted an impressive 3 million viewers, securing a 29.7% share of the audience and ranking as ITV1's third most popular game show of 2024 and leading the pack for shows not in primetime. Over in Australia, The Chase continues its reign, holding firm as Seven Network's top game show every week throughout 2024, marking a successful continuation of a five-year run at number one. Carlos Alcaraz made his feelings very clear in response to Emma Raducanu rumours

Carlos Alcaraz has been romantically linked with British tennis star Emma Raducnau for some time but the two-time Wimbledon champion once moved to address the rumours Carlos Alcaraz will be licking his wounds after his dreams of clinching a third straight Wimbledon title were dashed on Sunday. The Spanish tennis star was beaten by his rival Jannik Sinner, who triumphed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to claim his maiden SW19 crown. Alcaraz is no doubt now experiencing a different vibe from the aftermath of last year's event. After winning the competition in 2024, he was spotted dancing the night away with women's champion Barbora Krejcikova at the annual Wimbledon Champions' Dinner, as is tradition. ‌ Yet, it wasn't their dance moves that sparked a media frenzy but rather Emma Raducanu's presence in the Centre Court stands as he dispatched Novak Djokovic for his second Wimbledon title. ‌ Alcaraz later found himself batting away whispers of a romance with the British star, who exited this year's tournament in the fourth round after a thrilling clash with Aryna Sabalenka. Despite the relentless rumour mill, Alcaraz brushed off any notion of love with a chuckle. When quizzed last summer about Raducanu attending the 2024 final, he played down its significance, saying: "I don't know, I don't know. I think a lot of people came to see the final. "I think Novak and I always put on a good game, a show on the court. I think it is a beautiful game to watch. And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia I would 100 percent go to the final, even if I wasn't playing." ‌ But the Spaniard couldn't resist teasing, adding: "I don't know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to ask her, but I hope she enjoyed the final." Despite Alcaraz maintaining they're merely friends, speculation continues to swirl around their blockbuster pairing ahead of the US Open. Tournament bosses have unveiled a glittering lineup for their two-day mixed doubles spectacle during 'Fan Week', with all focus now on the dream team featuring both former US Open winners. ‌ Alcaraz recently set tongues wagging when he confessed Raducanu "will be the boss" during their partnership. In a BBC chat at Wimbledon, the duo fielded questions about what they'd quiz each other on before heading to New York, reports the Express. "Ooh, good question," Raducanu said. "I would like to know how much of the court he can cover in New York." When posed the same query, Alcaraz burst into laughter before declaring: "I'm just going to serve and I'm gonna pull myself away and I let her play. She will cover a lot of the court. She will be the boss. I will do whatever she wants me to do." ‌ The tennis world was also sent into a top spin when Alcaraz let slip that he had made a "special request" to partner with Raducanu for the upcoming mixed event in August. "Yeah. I mean, the tournament told us about the tournament, the mixed tournament," Alcaraz told the media. "I was thinking that I couldn't play better if it wasn't with Emma. I just asked Emma if she wants to play doubles with me. Yeah, I made that special request." However, Raducanu didn't jump at the chance straight away, as Alcaraz, who has five Grand Slam titles under his belt, confessed she took her time before deciding to join forces. Raducanu later said: "Got to keep them on their toes! I mean, of course, I had to ask my team if they wanted me to play. But for me, when he asked me, I was going to say yes, I just had to kind of go through the formality of asking my coach, so I didn't just make the decision." During her pre-tournament press conference for this year's Wimbledon, Raducanu again faced questions about a potential romantic connection with Alcaraz after they were spotted filming a promo together at the All England Club. She concluded by stating she had a "good time" with him, adding: "We're just good friends."
