Ingrid Tarrant, the ex-wife of Chris Tarrant, has shared her story of how she uncovered his infidelity.
The 70-year-old grew suspicious of the TV presenter, 78, 15 years into their marriage which began in 1991.
While Chris denied any wrongdoing when she confronted him, Ingrid's intuition told her otherwise.
She recounted on the Suddenly Single podcast: "Something was telling me he was lying. So, I thought the only way to be sure is to put a private detective on him."
Finding it difficult to plant a tracking device in his car, Ingrid made up a lie about why she needed to borrow his vehicle. After securing his consent, she said: "It took them ages to fit it [the device]."
Additionally, the mother-of-two hid a phone in her husband's second car to monitor his movements.
Reflecting on the ordeal, she shared: "I had to keep secretly charging it and there were moments when I thought, 'This is insane'.
"I'd be quietly getting the keys, shimmying out to the car to get the phone and charge it."
The experience led to numerous restless nights for Ingrid, especially as Chris would wake up early. Nevertheless, her efforts eventually confirmed her suspicions.

After being confronted with a picture that verified Chris' affair, Ingrid admitted she still felt shocked.
"Call me naive, but I was so surprised. I had to have a photograph so there was no mistake," she recalled.
It later emerged that the TV host had been secretly dating a 50-year-old primary school deputy headteacher for seven years.
When the affair became public in 2006, he issued an apology for the damage caused.
Chris expressed his remorse stating he was "deeply sorry" and confessed: "I have only myself to blame for the breakdown of my marriage."
The former couple, who are parents to two children, finalised their divorce in 2007 after 16 years of marriage.
Nowadays, Ingrid enjoys life as a happily single and celibate woman, who questions the need for another relationship. She said: "Women can just switch off, it's like food. If I eat breakfast, I'm hungry all day long.
"If you're not having sex, you go through the sex-starved hunger pangs and then nothing, I don't miss it at all."
She went on to say: "Do I really want to get back into all that with another man?
"I don't know that I do! I have a great social life, I like having an empty nest and I don't feel lonely at all."
Chris, on the other hand, remains in a long-tern relationship with Jane Bird, who he met shortly after he and Ingrid legally parted ways.

East 17 icon feels 'absolutely amazing' as he's baptised by The Krays' henchman

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The prospect of being held underwater by one of The Krays' henchmen is not one most people would jump at — unless you're East 17's Terry Coldwell. Terry, 50, gladly put himself in Chris Lambrianou's arms to be baptised at the River Church in London's East End. Seven born-again Christians stepped into the water with the 83-year-old former gangster, who spent part of his life as a member of 'The Firm'. The Firm was the nickname given to Ronnie and Reggie Kray's gang, based in Bethnal Green, London, throughout the 50s and 60s. A video shared by the Daily Mail showed Terry, speaking with Chris and the church's pastor, Dave Gill, as he stood in waist-high water for the ceremony. 'I've just been baptised and I feel absolutely amazing,' the Stay Another Day hitmaker told the Daily Mail. 'The service has been phenomenal today.' Terry added: 'I just feel great. I feel it was a long time coming and I'm really glad I did it.' A baptism is usually performed by a priest or bishop, but there are no restrictions on this in the Bible. East 17 rose to fame in the 90s, consisting of Terry, Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey and John Hendy, with over 18million albums worldwide. The lineup has changed over the years, with Terry remaining constant, although he recently shared that he doubted a reunion was likely. Meanwhile, Chris had a very different career and would probably rather have avoided the spotlight entirely. He was involved in the dumping of Jack 'The Hat' McVitie's body after he was stabbed by Reggie in 1967. During his prison sentence after being arrested for armed robbery, Chris found God and moved away from his life of crime. Of the baptism, he shared: ''Baptising so many people gives me a spiritual high. It's like you cannot buy the feeling I have. More Trending 'That can only come from Jesus Christ. Trust in him and he will never fail you.' He also set up a charity with a former Metropolitan police detective, Jon Wedger, to help provide work for young people and keep them from turning to crime. Jon attended the Sunday service along with some close friends and said: 'I found the service to be very moving. I've know Terry for a few years and his faith has got stronger and stronger and I think it's been niggling away at him to get baptised for a while now. 'Myself and Chris have worked together for a while now. He is a man who has turned his back on crime and devoted himself to God and is making a difference now in people's lives and helping youngsters avoid making the same mistakes he did.' Got a story? JoJo Siwa says Chris Hughes 'makes everything better' as he helps her beat fear

The couple who met on ITV reality show Celebrity Big Brother have been enjoying a visit to the Cotswolds, where they toured the stables run by Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer Jonjo O'Neill JoJo Siwa has told her followers that Chris Hughes 'makes everything better' after they visited some of his favourite places. The pop star, 22 and ex-Love Island contestant have started dating after meeting on the set of Celebrity Big Brother. After a trip to Mexico to support Dance Moms star Jojo, where she was performing and celebrating her birthday, Chris was keen to show his new partner the Cotswolds. The 32-year-old grew up on a farm in the area and he has had a long association with racing stable Jackdaws Castle, where Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning trainer Jonjo O'Neill is based. ‌ Chris, who rides out on the gallops when time allows, took Jojo on a tour of the yard - and started to help her overcome her fear of horses. ‌ In an Instagram post sharing pictures of the trip, Jojo was seen stroking a pony in a field, with the caption: "Touching a horse for the first time in 8 years (since I was thrown off one during a filming I've been scared to be around them haha loved this though after I warmed up!).' Chris was keen to show Jojo how gentle horses can be at O'Neill's yard, with the pair posing for a picture next to a thoroughbred he rode, showing his talents in the saddle. "Gorgeous boy riding a gorgeous horse," Jojo said, with an image of Chris heading up the gallops at Jackdaws, which has state-of-the-art facilities including a swimming pool and solarium for thoroughbred horses. On the same visit, Chris was seen leading Jojo towards the stables to meet the racers, who have their names on the wall next to each box. ‌ A friend of the O'Neill family, Chris became besotted with a mare named Annie Mc, who raced in the Marsh Novices' Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival. The reality TV star has worked as an ambassador for bookmakers Coral and they owned her through the firm's racing club. Annie Mc won seven times, including a Grade Two event and two races at Listed level, performances Chris and the members were proud of. After a win at Warwick in February 2021, he tweeted: "I'm gone, emotional wreck. Pure heart. Shaking. I love you so much Annie, you've my heart forever. Superstar. Jumps racing gets you like this. Best sport in the world." Chris has seen Annie Mc at Carisbrooke Stud, where she was retired to become a broodmare and gave birth to a foal by Doctor Dino. On a rainy day, Chris patted the now 11-year-old former chaser and kissed his "legend" on the nose in one clip. ‌ "She fills our hearts with happiness, win, lose or draw and she's just such a special, genuine mare to be involved with," he said previously. "She's one in a lifetime and all of us connected are so proud. Heart of a lion." As well as spending time with horses, Chris and Jojo went to Broadway, enjoying coffee and breakfast on the trip as their relationship continues to blossom. "Nothing beats wholesome & pure days like these," Jojo added on Instagram.

But you don't worry if you have wooden floors. Two words: wipe clean."
