ESPN's Michael Wilbon isn't in the mood to deal with hot-take artists. He made that abundantly clear this week.

Wilbon has hosted "Pardon the Interruption" since its inception in 2001. His partnership with Tony Kornheiser has made the show an ESPN classic. Of course, he has also made a name for himself without Kornheiser by his side. In 2020, he was inducted into the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) Hall of Fame.
Obviously, Wilbon knows a thing or two about what sells in today's era of sports talk. That doesn't mean he has to agree with it though.
Prior to Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Wilbon talked about Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton playing through injury on "Pardon the Interruption."
Wilbon didn't just applaud Haliburton's toughness, he issued a warning to anyone thinking of criticizing the All-Star guard.

"Haliburton, who I flat out admire for going out there and playing and anybody who's critical of that effort to me is a fool, and I don't want to see them in front of me because I might take a swing at them," Wilbon said. "I don't want to hear it. Haliburton has my admiration for playing … people should shut up. Athletes are to be admired when they do this kind of thing."

(Photo by)This isn't the first time that Wilbon has gotten brutally honest. In March, he criticized the current state of sports media during an interview with Bobby Burack of OutKick.
"That's pandering. It's all pandering. Let me be clear: our business is a piece of [expletive] a lot of days," Wilbon told OutKick. "There is nobody enforcing standards or having tough conversations. This is what happens when you no longer have functioning newsrooms, because everyone is working from hotel rooms, from their bedrooms, and maybe even from their beds.

"People are not in newsrooms anymore or a studio, where you can call them out on their [expletive]. That's a problem. Instead, there are a bunch of 20-year-olds pitching stories while spending all day on social media and reinforcing each other's [expletive]. It's 100% pandering, and I hate it."
Like it or not, Wilbon is brutally honest with his peers.

The Washington Wizards are expected to shop Corey Kispert around in trade talks this offseason, potentially putting the former Gonzaga star on a new NBA team after four seasons in DC. Advertisement Kispert signed a four-year, $54 million extension recently, which includes a team option in 2028-29, a contract that makes him a desirable asset to contending teams while Washington continues to live in rebuilding mode. Kispert played 61 games for the Wizards last year before a thumb injury ended his season prematurely in mid-March. The 6'7 wing averaged 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 57.4% on two pointers and 36.4% from beyond the arc in 26.4 minutes per game. Kispert's size, off-ball movement, outside shooting, and ability to attack closeouts and score at the rim make him a very valuable scoring wing in the modern NBA, and while he has defensive limitations there is little doubt he will attract multiple suitors on the market. With the NBA draft just nine days away, we take a look at three teams that could make a push for Kispert this offseason: Advertisement Philadelphia 76ers Philadelphia was among the worst three point shooting teams in the NBA last year, and with power forward Guerschon Yabusele hitting free agency and Paul George looking completely lost, it would not be a surprise at all to see the 76ers get involved in a trade for Kispert. If Washington is looking to be aggressive in moving up in the draft, sending Kispert and the No. 6 pick to Philadelphia for No. 3 overall could work well for both sides. It gives the Wizards a chance to swing for a superstar in either Ace Bailey or VJ Edgecombe - who might not be available at No. 6 - while giving Philadelphia a proven outside shooter and keeping them in position to land a quality piece from this draft class. Memphis Grizzlies Memphis just made a massive move by trading Desmond Bane to Orlando for a package that included four first round picks. The Grizzlies don't appear to be rebuilding, however, and Kispert is the kind of player they could target to help replenish some of the production lost in the Bane trade. Advertisement While it has not happened yet, a Zag-for-Zag trade very much makes sense here if the Grizzlies are willing to move Brandon Clarke to help clear out their crowded frontcourt, while Washington gets a veteran rim-running big to pair with Alex Sarr and Richaun Holmes. Milwaukee Bucks Milwaukee will be without superstar guard Damian Lillard next season, and could lose shooting guard Gary Trent Jr to free agency as well. The Bucks are in a unique spot with Giannis Antetokounmpo, but if they do want to keep building around him and contending in the east, adding a proven shooter and scorer in Kispert makes a ton of sense. A deal involving Pat Connaughton (to salary match) and young big Tyler Smith could work for both sides, possibly with draft pick compensation going to Washington as well. Like the Dallas Mavericks, the San Antonio Spurs were lucky to move up in the 2025 NBA Draft after getting good luck in the Draft Lottery. While the Mavs moved an incredible 11 spots from No.11 to No.1, the Spurs went up six notches from No.8 to No.2. Advertisement By getting the 2nd pick, San Antonio now owns the No.2 and No.14 picks in the upcoming Draft. Because of this, some analysts are suggesting that the Spurs package the picks to trade for an established superstar who will turn them into contenders next season. However, Hall of Famer George Gervin, who once played for the Silver & Black, thinks that if the franchise wants to contend for a title for a long time, they need to build their core from the ground up. "You build it. You build a young core up, I think that's important. And then you have something you can build for a while. We already got five championships, so if you want some more, and you want more than one, then you got to build a solid foundation and grow from there. They got a good nucleus. They got a real good nucleus with Fox coming in, Wemby. They got a really good nucleus to put something together," said Gervin. KD is still an outstanding basketball player right now. He would certainly make the current Spurs team much better and turn them into a playoff contender.
