Meet the mum and daughter uniting the worlds of fashion and farming: ‘I love that people don't really understand what we're at – there isn't anything else like this'
Fashionistas and farmers Mareta Doyle and Ciara Hunt have combined their two loves to create a unique festival in Kinsale that they hope will kickstart a farm-to-fashion movement
It sounds like it might have something to do with fancy wellies, perhaps, or maybe a glitzy offshoot of the National Ploughing Championships. 'Fashion & Farming' is an unusual combination of words, agree Mareta Doyle and her daughter Ciara Hunt, but there is method to their apparent madness.
The pair arrive at Dublin's Merrion Hotel unintentionally coordinated, each as chic and subtly glam as the other. Doyle has arrived off the train from Cork, while Hunt is fresh off a plane from London. They immediately launch into excited chatter about their accidentally matching black outfits — not a welly in sight — and their new joint venture: a festival that aims to bridge the gap between the worlds of fashion and farming, exploring how they complement each other and sparking conversations about how both industries can be more sustainable going forward.

Commonly used household item savagely exposed cheating husband: ‘It's timestamped and often location-based'
A woman caught her husband cheating in one of the most bizarre ways — and it involved an item everyone is guilty of using. There are some obvious signs that someone isn't being faithful in a relationship — being sneaky with their phone, suddenly having to work late. But rarely do people think to pay attention to their partner's mouth hygiene habits. Paul Jones, a private investigator at ARF Investigators, helped a woman figure out her husband was cheating, thanks to a log of his tooth brushing. It's not as weird as it sounds. One of Jones' clients downloaded an electric toothbrush app to get her kids to properly brush their pearly whites. Well, little did she — or her conniving husband — realize that the app tracked every family member's brushing routine. 'Over time, the client noticed their partner's brushing history was being logged at odd times, times when they were supposedly at work,' Jones said, according to the Mirror. Eventually, the wife noticed a bizarre pattern when her husband was sudsing his mouth — especially when it was happening at times he was supposed to be at work, the outlet explained. '… in that time he had started an affair with a work colleague and used to have her over the family home on a Friday when the wife and kids were out of the house,' the investigator said. 'It's timestamped, often location-based, and emotionless. When a device says someone brushed their teeth at 10:48 a.m. when they were supposed to start work at 9 a.m., that's very hard to explain away.' Another very unexpected way technology can help expose dirty cheaters is by checking the person's supermarket loyalty apps, the ones that help shoppers save money and earn rewards, according to London-based private investigator Aaron Bond. He said a supermarket loyalty member app can reveal a lot. 'Clubcard data is limited, but it does tell you a date and location, which is easily accessible if you log into your account,' Bond told the Mirror. 'If your partner claims they were working or out with friends but the account shows they made a purchase in a completely different area, then it's a clear red flag.'

Virginia radio host Brandon Stokes arrested for allegedly trying to drunkenly enter crime scene
A beloved Virginia radio personality was accused of attempting to drive drunkenly through a crime scene where law enforcement was investigating an officer-involved shooting. Brandon Stokes, known by his stage name as 'Shaggy' on Virginia Beach's Z104, allegedly showed signs of intoxication as he tried to enter a closed-off area surrounded by law enforcement in Virginia Beach on Wednesday around 9:30 a.m., 13 News Now reported. At the time, the Virginia Beach Police Department blocked off the area when they were investigating an unrelated officer-involved shooting that happened the same morning. 5 Brandon Stokes was arrested on Wednesday and charged with DUI and obstruction of justice. Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office Officers reportedly fired at a suspect — identified as 18-year-old Shaun Marlar — who was holding a replica gun outside of a self-storage business, according to 10 WAVY. Marlar was allegedly attempting to break into a car at a daycare facility near the storage business when police confronted him. Authorities shot Marlar when the teen pointed the replica firearm. The 43-year-old radio personality, who owns a roller skating rink just feet away from where the shooting happened, said he had property nearby and insisted that he was 'allowed to drive through,' according to court records reviewed by the outlet. Officers repeatedly told Stokes that he could not enter, but the disc jockey would not take no for an answer. Stokes reportedly became 'belligerent' and slurred his words while cussing at the law enforcement officers on scene. 5 Stokes reportedly was trying to drive up to his business, a roller skating rink, near the crime scene. WTKR 3 One officer noticed a strong smell of booze on his breath and Stokes agreed to take a preliminary breath test. The results showed a reported blood alcohol concentration of 0.18, which is more than twice the legal limit in Virginia. Stokes was taken into custody. 5 Stokes is a morning show host for Z104. Courtesy 5 Stokes invited inmates to perform their work live in the studio nearly one year ago. Facebook/Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office He's since bonded out and the on-air personality was back in the studio to host his morning show the following day. 'THURSDAY – RUMOR IS IT'S GONNA RAIN TODAY,' the host captioned on an Instagram story posted Thursday. The video on his Instagram showed a quick look inside the studio. He later assured his fans that everything was okay in a short post on his DJ Facebook page. 'Promise you all is well.. I'm good. – happy Thursday,' the post read. 5 The DJ partnered with local law enforcement to promote a program that helped inmates create music last June. Facebook/Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office The Post reached out to Stokes and his radio station for comment. The DJ's arrest came nearly one year after he teamed up with the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office to feature a program that allowed inmates to create original music. Marlar is in critical, but stable condition after the shooting. He was charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and three counts of brandishing. 'I don't know. My heart is broken. I don't know what to say about that. You know, I'm terrified for the people that he had an effect on, and I'm terribly sorry for what they've gone through, but super glad that nobody got hurt,' Marlar's dad told the outlet. 'He's got to know the consequences for what he has done and get some help. He is not a bad or mean person. He just struggles.'

The building of the regional state administration. Russian forces have completely destroyed it. Two strikes with aerial bombs. Deliberate strikes, not accidental. No military sense whatsoever. They are openly destroying life. Absolutely deranged creatures. Force is… — Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський (@ZelenskyyUa) June 5, 2025 He added that explosions from ballistic missiles were also recorded on the outskirts of the city. The night-time attack came hours after US President Donald Trump said it might be better to let Ukraine and Russia 'fight for a while' before pulling them apart and pursuing peace, in comments that were a remarkable detour from Mr Trump's often-stated appeals to stop the three-year war. The US leader spoke as he met with Germany's new chancellor, Friedrich Merz, who appealed to him as the 'key person in the world' who could halt the bloodshed by pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin.
