Wimbledon women's final live updates: Anisimova vs. Swiatek time, TV channel, odds

USA Today5 days ago
A recent recurring theme will continue Saturday at the All-England Club: For the eighth consecutive year, there will be a new women's single champion at Wimbledon.
Two first-time Wimbledon finalists will do battle as former No. 1 Iga Świątek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, will take on American Amanda Anisimova. It will be the first time the two, who are only three months apart in age, have played each other in any WTA tournament.
Anisimova, who turns 24 on Aug. 31, is seeking to become the first American woman to win Wimbledon since Serena Williams won the last of her seven titles there in 2016. The No. 13 seed had never advanced past the semifinals at any Grand Slam tournament until this year, with her best result coming in the 2019 French Open, where she lost in the semifinals. But Anisimova stunned No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 37 minutes for her chance to win her first major title.
Świątek, the No. 8 seed, has won four French Open titles (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and the 2022 US Open championship but had never advanced past the quarterfinals at Wimbledon until this year. The 24-year-old earned her way to the final after routing Switzerland's Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0 in a quick hour and 11 minutes in the semifinals.
