Stockholm Diamond League: Adeleke sixth in 400m, hometown hero Duplantis sets new pole vault record
RHASIDAT ADELEKE SETTLED for sixth place in the women's 400m at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on Sunday evening.
Adeleke crossed in 50.48 to take sixth in what was just her second race 400m outdoor race of the season. She began the season in Oslo on Thursday, where she was 0.06 seconds quicker than today.
The race was won by American Isabella Whittaker in a very fast 49.78, just eight hundredths of a second off the meeting record, which was set by Allyson Felix in 2007. It marks back-to-back wins for Whittaker, who was fastest at the Oslo meet on Thursday.
Norway's Henriette Jaeger was second in 50.07, with Britain's Amber Anning running a season's best of 50.17 for third place.

Lieke Klaver of Netherlands was fourth with Chile's Martina Weil in fifth.
Elsewhere, Swedish double Olympic pole vault champion Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis bettered his existing world record by a centimetre on Sunday as he cleared 6.28 metres at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting.
With victory already guaranteed, Duplantis broke the world record for the 12th time as he soared over the bar at the first attempt to improve on his 6.27m effort in February.

Daniel Wiffen explains decision not to train with his big Olympic rivals
Daniel Wiffen has deliberately swerved the opportunity to train with his direct rivals for Olympic glory in LA. Ireland's two-time Olympic medallist in the pool recently announced that he is leaving the Loughborough University swim programme to spend time in Ireland as well as travelling to the University of California, where his brother Nathan is moving to. Wiffen acknowledges that the University of Florida has a world-class group of swimmers that he could work with, but he has decided to steer clear. That's my goal," Wiffen told Off The Ball. "And honestly, for me, I just want to surround myself with a good training group. "So obviously I'm going to be in Ireland for a good bit because of my appendicitis surgery and the rehab. I'm going to go to Cal at the end of September to train with Nathan a bit. "I think that California group is going to be probably the second best group in the world for distance freestyle. Number one would be Florida, but I don't want to go to Florida. "(Bobby) Finke, Ahmed Hafnaoui, (Ahmed) Jaouadi, all of them are world champions or Olympic champions. I'll never go to Florida. I don't really want to train with my direct rivals, to be honest, because I honestly think you could be too friendly with your rivals sometimes. "So for now, I like training with people who can push me in different ways. Realistically, nobody's going to be able to push me - not even my rivals, I doubt they'll be able to push me on the heart rate side of swimming, long reps kind of stuff. "But on the race pace side, which I'm quite weak at, I've got 400 freestylers who will be able to push me in California. So that's what I was more looking for, I'm looking for people who are kind of a bit more sprinty so they can push me in different areas." Wiffen is convinced that the stellar Cal group won't stick together during this Olympic cycle because there will be clashes. "I'll tell you now, it won't last," he said. "Something will happen, because you can never put that many personalities in one pool. Like, somebody's going to clash or somebody's going to have a bad set one day and snap and then something's going to happen. "Even when I'm training and Nathan's training, we're brothers, but something always happens where you have a disagreement and then you fall out. But obviously we're brothers, so we make up very quickly. So looking at it from the outside, it probably wouldn't work if I was to join them."
