RHASIDAT ADELEKE SETTLED for sixth place in the women's 400m at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting on Sunday evening.
Adeleke crossed in 50.48 to take sixth in what was just her second race 400m outdoor race of the season. She began the season in Oslo on Thursday, where she was 0.06 seconds quicker than today.
The race was won by American Isabella Whittaker in a very fast 49.78, just eight hundredths of a second off the meeting record, which was set by Allyson Felix in 2007. It marks back-to-back wins for Whittaker, who was fastest at the Oslo meet on Thursday.
Norway's Henriette Jaeger was second in 50.07, with Britain's Amber Anning running a season's best of 50.17 for third place.

Lieke Klaver of Netherlands was fourth with Chile's Martina Weil in fifth.

Benjamin Sesko warns rivals he'll fire Man Utd back to the very top and reveals why he picked Red Devils over Newcastle

BENJAMIN SESKO warned Prem rivals it is only a matter of time before he fires Manchester United back to the top. The £74million ace snubbed Newcastle to seal a move to Old Trafford on Saturday. Asked of his ambitions at United, Sesko said: 'We get better, connect, we grow step-by-step. 'We're becoming more complete and it's just a matter of time before we fly high again.' Toon also offered RB Leipzig's asking price and the Slovenia international was given the chance to choose between the two clubs. Advertisement Asked why he opted to link up with Amorim's men, he said: 'First of all it's because of the club — it's a historical club and an unbelievable one. 'The team is great and it's getting better and better. It gives you an energy that you want to be part of. A great project and I can't wait to start. 'Of course the manager played a part too — that's important in football. 'He's a great guy, a great coach. I think it's going to be exciting.' Every single YouTube video that I can find. Because he's just amazing for me. 'We don't have the same character but I like to see him – the way he plays, the way that he enjoys football. In general he's my idol. 'I try to take some stuff from him, there are some similarities with the high kicks and things and the powerful strikes. Irish dreams of a semi-final dealt blow as French players are left in tears after first EuroHockey win in 22 years

French players were left in tears after their first EuroHockey win in 22 years as Ireland wasted 13 penalty corner chances, twice hit the post and lost their seven-game unbeaten record to Les Bleus. Mathilde Duffrene's second-half penalty corner proved the difference, while goalkeeper Lucie Ehrmann produced a superb display to thwart Ireland's below-par attackers. Defeat leaves hopes of progression resting on beating Germany Wednesday night by a two-goal cushion. Olympic, world and defending European champions Netherlands beat hosts Germany 5-1 on Monday evening. 'We are gutted,' said Katie Mullan. 'We had a lot of opportunities, the French goalkeeper was phenomenal, but we should take a hard look at ourselves in attack as we expect more from ourselves and we are able to produce more quality in the final third.' An unmarked Mullan hit the post and then blazed over in the first quarter to set the tone for Ireland's host of squandered chances. They then wasted five penalty corner chances in a row. The post was rattled either side of post runner Emma van der Zanden charging down the castle hits. Lizzy Murphy made a sprawling second-half body save from Van Der Zanden. It paved the way for upfield Irish circle penetration but increasing desperation to find the net as more corner set-pieces went begging. With 11 minutes left, Ireland went down to 10 after a green card for Michelle Carey. And France made it count through Duffrene's rising penalty corner flick. Mullan's late yellow card for physical intent summed up their afternoon. Coach Gareth Grundie said: 'We were impatient with the ball, but we had enough opportunities to win it comfortably. We will have to take that one on the chin.'

Daniel Wiffen explains decision not to train with his big Olympic rivals

Daniel Wiffen has deliberately swerved the opportunity to train with his direct rivals for Olympic glory in LA. Ireland's two-time Olympic medallist in the pool recently announced that he is leaving the Loughborough University swim programme to spend time in Ireland as well as travelling to the University of California, where his brother Nathan is moving to. Wiffen acknowledges that the University of Florida has a world-class group of swimmers that he could work with, but he has decided to steer clear. That's my goal," Wiffen told Off The Ball. "And honestly, for me, I just want to surround myself with a good training group. "So obviously I'm going to be in Ireland for a good bit because of my appendicitis surgery and the rehab. I'm going to go to Cal at the end of September to train with Nathan a bit. "I think that California group is going to be probably the second best group in the world for distance freestyle. Number one would be Florida, but I don't want to go to Florida. "(Bobby) Finke, Ahmed Hafnaoui, (Ahmed) Jaouadi, all of them are world champions or Olympic champions. I'll never go to Florida. I don't really want to train with my direct rivals, to be honest, because I honestly think you could be too friendly with your rivals sometimes. Gold medalist Daniel Wiffen of Team Ireland is embraced by silver medalist Bobby Finke of Team United States on the podium during the medal ceremony after the Men's 800m Freestyle Final on day four of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Paris La Defense Arena on July 30, 2024 (Image:) "So I train with 1,500m swimmers, but they were never at my level - or if they were, like in Felix's (his training partner in Loughborough) case, I could just try and chase him, but I was a lot younger then. "So for now, I like training with people who can push me in different ways. Realistically, nobody's going to be able to push me - not even my rivals, I doubt they'll be able to push me on the heart rate side of swimming, long reps kind of stuff. "But on the race pace side, which I'm quite weak at, I've got 400 freestylers who will be able to push me in California. So that's what I was more looking for, I'm looking for people who are kind of a bit more sprinty so they can push me in different areas." Wiffen is convinced that the stellar Cal group won't stick together during this Olympic cycle because there will be clashes. "I'll tell you now, it won't last," he said. "Something will happen, because you can never put that many personalities in one pool. Like, somebody's going to clash or somebody's going to have a bad set one day and snap and then something's going to happen. "Even when I'm training and Nathan's training, we're brothers, but something always happens where you have a disagreement and then you fall out. But obviously we're brothers, so we make up very quickly. So looking at it from the outside, it probably wouldn't work if I was to join them."
