Real Madrid's Bellingham set to miss 12 weeks after shoulder surgery
MADRID : Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is expected to miss up to 12 weeks recovering from a shoulder operation after the Spanish giants said Wednesday he had successfully undergone surgery.
'Our player Jude Bellingham has undergone successful surgery for a recurrent left shoulder dislocation,' said Real Madrid in a statement.
'Bellingham will now begin a period of rehabilitation prior to his return to recovery work.'
While Madrid did not specify the expected length of his recovery time, Spanish media have reported it will take around 12 weeks for him to return to action.
Bellingham has been struggling with shoulder discomfort after dislocating it in a La Liga match in November 2023, and playing with a brace under his shirt since then.
The England midfielder held off on the operation until after Madrid's participation in the Club World Cup this summer, with Xabi Alonso's side reaching the semi-finals.
Bellingham is set to miss the La Liga visit to face rivals Atletico Madrid in late September, as well as the club's first two Champions League matches.
The 22-year-old midfielder should be back in action by the time Madrid host Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season in late October.
'I've got the point where… I'm fed up with the brace, and having to tug on it and having (other) players tug on it, and it rearranging all the time,' said Bellingham during the Club World Cup.
The midfielder will also miss World Cup qualifiers with England against Andorra and Serbia on Sept 6 and 9 respectively.

The Colombian winger, who won the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups during his time at Anfield, has signed a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029. The fee paid for Diaz is the third-highest in Bayern's history. 'In Luis Diaz, we have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League,' said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. 'He brings real player character from Liverpool to FC Bayern – he's won silverware with every one of his clubs to date.' Diaz, 28, said he was 'very happy' with the move to the German club. LONDON, July 30 — Bayern Munich have signed Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool on a four-year contract, the Bundesliga club said on Wednesday. Financial details of the transfer were not revealed but British media reported Bayern paid around €75 million (RM367 million) for the 28-year-old Colombia international. Diaz's contract with Liverpool ran until June 2027. He moved to the Merseyside club from Portuguese side Porto for around €50 million in January 2022. 'Three years and a half that I'll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together,' Diaz posted on Instagram. Malaysian shuttlers head to Denmark for high-intensity camp ahead of World Championships
KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — The national singles shuttlers are heading to Denmark, and it's training, not pastries, on the menu. With the World Championships 2025 in Paris fast approaching, national singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen said the squad will undergo a week-long training camp at the Denmark national training centre in Copenhagen ahead of the prestigious tournament, which runs from August 25-31. Jonassen, who requested the arrangement, said the training stint with the Danish national team is aimed at raising the Malaysian players' sparring intensity, exposing them to a different training environment, and helping them adapt to European conditions. 'We found that it would be a good solution for us to go and get some additional higher sparring level and to acclimatise (in Europe) 'So for us, I see it as a win-win situation, and we cherish this opportunity to go and prepare well for the World Championship,' he told reporters when met at a training session here today.
