Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, GCO Director, emphasised: 'Qatar increasingly recognises the media sector as a cornerstone for building public awareness and engagement. Our collaboration with Google and Al Jazeera Media Institute demonstrates our commitment to fostering a media environment grounded in innovation and digital literacy.'
He further noted: 'By forging strategic partnerships with global industry leaders, we're enhancing Qatar's media capabilities and equipping professionals with skills to leverage smart technologies to create a credible, innovative and impactful content. This marks a crucial step toward creating a modern local media environment that aligns with our sustainable development goals.'
Mazen Sabbagh, News and Publishing Partnerships Lead for MENA at Google, said: 'The program aimed to empower journalists and news directors to leverage advanced digital tools, including AI, to enhance their journalistic practices.'
Al Jazeera Media Institute Director Eman Al Amri emphasised that newsroom innovation—particularly through AI integration—represents a critical investment in the future of media operations.
This training forms a part of the GCO's professional development series, designed to strengthen Qatar's media and communications ecosystem. Through capacity-building initiatives, these programs support professionals in navigating developments within the global media landscape, in line with the Third National Development Strategy.

MoCI launches public-private partnerships platform
QNA Doha The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has launched an electronic platform dedicated to showcasing the programmes of public-private projects on its portal. The move is part of MoCI's consistent efforts to foster digital transformation, promote services afforded to investors, and optimize competencies in support of economic development, as well as stimulate the nation's strategic investments. A statement by MoCI on Tuesday affirmed that the new platform offers an interactive environment that helps investors and entrepreneurs identify available opportunities, follow up on updates on partnership initiatives between the public and private sectors, and review the relevant regulations. Having been prepared by MoCI's Business Development Department, this initiative aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3) 2024–2030, which primarily aim to empower the private sector, upscale its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and foster economic transformation and innovation in the State, the statement read. The statement added that the ministry's new strategy gives priority to enhancing effective partnership with the private sector as a substantial vehicle to supercharge the development cycle. Through this platform, MoCI endeavors to foster a competitive business environment that supports sustainable innovation and investment, offering a database for all relevant projects and initiatives in partnership between the public and private sectors, in addition to outlining the mechanisms of Law No. 12 of 2020 regulating the partnership between these two sectors.

QFC partners with ILO, HBKU to launch skills study in financial sector
Tribune News Network Doha The Employment Standards Office of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), a leading onshore financial and business centre in the region, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) – Doha Office and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), conducted a skills study in the financial sector. After study they havelaunched a landmark policy brief titled 'Identifying Skills Needs in Qatar's Financial Sector – A QFC Perspective for Policymakers'. The brief was published on a globally recognised ILO platform, underscoring Qatar's commitment to future-ready workforce planning and inclusive labour policy. The policy brief offers data-driven insights into the current and emerging skills most in demand across QFC-licensed firms, covering areas such as digital finance, risk analysis, regulatory compliance, ESG awareness, data literacy, and human capital leadership. It also serves as a practical guide for policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders to align talent development strategies with the country's economic diversification goals and national workforce agenda. The brief reflects the Employment Standards Office's broader mandate to promote transparent and fair labour practices and a human-centred approach to enhancing business performance and productivity, in line with the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030, the Third National Development Strategy, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the 'Social' element of the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) metrics. By promoting and monitoring regulatory compliance, the Employment Standards Office ensures that employment standards and policies not only uphold the rights of individuals but also strengthen the integrity of the QFC ecosystem. Emphasising QFC's ongoing commitment to advancing Qatar's long-term development goals, QFC CEO Yousuf Mohamed Al Jaida said, 'Multi-stakeholder collaborations are critical in designing workforce policies that not only support Qatar's economic ambitions but also advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By drawing on diverse perspectives and expertise, we can build more inclusive and resilient markets that deliver long-term value to both people and the economy.' QFC Commissioner of the Employment Standards Office Luigia Ingianni said, 'This study particularly reinforces our dedication to promoting and achieving SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (partnership for the goals), and highlights the benefits of a collaborative approach to creating inclusive and sustainable employment practices in the financial sector.' Reflecting on the evolving role of the Employment Standards Office in supporting the State of Qatar in pursuing the Third National Development Strategy and its 'Future-Ready Workforce' objective, Maha Tawfik, Head of Monitoring and Labour Affairs at Employment Standards Office, QFC, remarked: 'Our responsibility is to ensure regulatory frameworks are informed by comprehensive and robust data, enabling targeted interventions that cultivate a resilient, adaptive, and inclusive financial sector workforce. For this reason, we have established the Labour Market Information System to collect and analyse labour market data and trends and define policies to address the gaps and make the workforce ready for the future of work. This alignment with both national priorities and international labour standards is essential to fostering sustainable growth and equitable opportunities in Qatar's fast-evolving economic landscape.' Since its establishment in 2015, the Employment Standards Office has championed ethical employment practices and regulatory excellence. GWC reports first half net profit of QR62.46 mn on revenue of QR712.69 mn
Tribune News Network Doha Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC), one of the fastest-growing businesses in the MENA region, on Tuesday announced that the company reported total revenues of QR712.69 million and a net profit of QAR 62.46 million, while earnings per share stood at QAR 0.100 during the same period. GWC Chairman Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani said, 'Logistics plays a vital role in facilitating the movement of goods and services and boosting both domestic and international trade. It also serves as a fundamental pillar in diversifying the national economy in line with the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030. With its strategic advantages, Qatar is well-positioned to become a global logistics hub. In this context, GWC is proud to support the growth of the logistics sector, maintaining a leading position in the Qatari market by offering a comprehensive range of services that include warehousing, distribution, records management solutions, logistics hubs, freight forwarding, fine art logistics, transportation, air and sea freight, and customs clearance.' He said, 'We are steadily increasing our support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through Al Wukair Logistics Park, which spans 1.5 million square meters and offers world-class infrastructure and a solid platform for business growth and expansion.
