Gulf Keystone resumes output at Iraqi Kurdistan oilfield following drone attacks
Repeated drone attacks on oilfields in the region slashed crude output, including the production of other companies as well, by 140,000 barrels to 150,000 barrels per day, energy officials told Reuters last month.
Gulf Keystone has a production sharing contract with Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government with an 80% working interest in the licence for Shaikan, located around 60 kilometres (37 miles) to the northwest of the capital Erbil.
"Production operations recently restarted at the Shaikan Field following a security assessment and consultation with the Kurdistan Regional Government," Gulf Keystone said in a statement.
The company will provide a further update on its production and sales as part of its first-half results announcement later this month, it said.
"The Company continues to actively engage with government stakeholders regarding a resumption of pipeline exports and remains ready to restart as soon as possible, contingent on securing written agreements," it added.
The Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline has been offline since 2023, after an arbitration court ruled that Turkey should pay $1.5 billion in damages for unauthorised exports between 2014 and 2018. Turkey is appealing the ruling.

Iraq allocates 1,000 acres for youth housing project
Iraq has allocated 1,000 acres of land for the development of a low-cost residential city dedicated to young people in the 18 to 40 age group, a government adviser said on Saturday. Ali Hilal, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Executive Director of the Supreme Council for Youth, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the initiative targets an age group that continues to face housing challenges, and especially youth at the start of their adult lives. Hilal said multiple sites are being studied to identify the most suitable location, adding that the project will serve as a pilot and could later be extended to other provinces if successful. He also highlighted Iraq's rapid demographic growth, with an annual population increase of 3 - 4 percent, equivalent to about 1–1.2 million births per year. Around 900,000 to 1 million Iraqis enter the workforce annually, adding pressure on the labour and housing markets. (Writing by Majda Muhsen; Editing by Anoop Menon) (

Iraq shortlists 2 firms for offshore LNG terminal
Iraq has shortlisted two companies to implement a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at the Khor Al-Zubair port in Basra for importing liquefied gas to generate electricity, the Oil Ministry said. In a weekend statement, the Ministry noted that a third bidder withdrew after its revised offer—below 500 million standard cubic feet per day—was rejected while its proposal to operate two separate storage and regasification platforms was dismissed by the Iraqi Ports Company. Six firms had been invited to bid with proposals reviewed by specialised technical committees. The Ministry's Diwani Order Committee will issue a final decision at its next meeting, it said, adding that all procedures are subject to ministerial oversight. As part of the preparations, the ministry affirmed that the South Gas Company and the Oil Projects Company completed two strategic pipelines: a 40-kilometre, 42-inch line from Khor al-Zubair, near Basra, to the Shatt al-Arab regulator, finished in June, and a 45-km line from Al-Mahmoudiyah, south of Baghdad, to the Bismayah power plant, now ready to receive imported gas. The project forms part of Iraq's broader strategy to address chronic electricity shortages. (Writing by Nadim Kawach; Editing by Anoop Menon) (
