Chris Eubank Sr. and Jr. clearly have a rocky relationship.
The father, a former super middleweight champion, slammed his son during a recent interview with Seconds Out for the latter's actions during a face-off with Conor Benn, the son of Sr.'s arch rival, Nigel Benn.
Yes, there is a lot to unpack here.
In case you missed it, a few weeks back Eubank Jr. made headlines when he smashed an egg against Benn's face during a faceoff.
Eubank Jr. was fined for his actions and maligned by most in the sport. Still, no one's criticism figures to hit harder than the words that came from his father.
In his interview, Sr. didn't hold back.
'Jr., you're smashing an egg against this guy's face," Sr. said in the video originally posted by Seconds Out. "I taught you that? I didn't teach you that. Who taught you that? Did Karen teach you that? Who taught you that? That's disgraceful. I'm gonna stand in your corner? You must be mad. I would never be in your corner. You're a disgrace. You're smashing an egg against someone's face and then you're trying to justify it. There's no justification for that. There's nothing noble about that.'
DAZN Boxing posted the video:
The timing and tone of the comments from Eubank Sr. couldn't have been more direct.
He didn't just disapprove of the stunt—he distanced himself entirely from his son's behavior and publicly condemned it in a way that made headlines. The moment has added another strange, emotionally layered wrinkle to a fight that was already drenched in history.

Eubank Sr. and the elder Benn had one of the most storied rivalries in the history of British boxing. They fought twice with Eubank winning the first meeting via TKO and the British legends battling to a draw in the second scrap. This fight between their sons was supposed to be a continuation, but it has seemingly dissolved into something else.
Boxing history is filled with rocky relationships between famous fathers and their sons, but the Eubanks have their own wing of dysfunction all to themselves.
From public criticisms to moments of visible detachment during career highs and lows, the emotional complexity between Sr. and Jr. has always been part of the story—but rarely has it spilled out this vividly in public.
Eubank Jr. and Benn fight on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom.
The rest of the card is strong with Anthony Yarde set to face Lyndon Arthur, Liam Smith battling Aaron McKenna and Chris Billam-Smith returning to take on Brandon Glanton.
With the bout now just days away, all eyes are on how Eubank Jr. handles both the media storm and the matchup with Benn. Whether his father's disavowal rattles or motivates him could play a significant role in the outcome.
For fans, the generational storyline has now split off into a more complicated family chapter—one that makes April 26 a bit more interesting. And I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that.

Hamilton Heartbroken After Hitting Animal Mid-Race, Damaging Car

Debris fills a Formula 1 circuit before, during, and after a race, though most of it is pieces of the vehicles driven on the track. Hamilton's SF-25 was damaged by one of the weirdest pieces of debris ever collected on the track: a hedgehog. The Ferrari was going around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve when it ended up going over a hedgehog. After the race, team personnel examined the car and, unfortunately, found the remains of a groundhog. Known for loving animals, especially his dog Roscoe, Hamilton felt distraught when speaking to the media following the grand prix. "I didn't see it happen, but obviously I heard I hit a groundhog, so that's devastating," Hamilton said. "I love animals, and I'm so sad about it. That's horrible. That's never happened to me here before." Lewis Hamilton's damage early on in the race was caused by a groundhog... Sleep well 😔#CanadianGP — Autosport (@autosport) June 15, 2025 Hamilton's race suffered as a result of the damage, limiting the amount of downforce created by the car. Adami notified Hamilton about the hindrance after the seven-time world champion said he was going "nowhere" in the race, providing context for the lackluster pace. All things considered, he left the race feeling good about his performance, given the circumstances. "I think it was feeling pretty decent up until [the collision]," Hamilton added. "I got a good start, held position, I was holding onto the group. I was managing the tyres well, so I was feeling optimistic. "So with the floor, basically the right side, there's a hole in it, and all the veins are all gone. "So, given that, and we had a brake issue halfway through as well, and then we stayed out probably too long in the first stop and came out behind traffic, and just went from one thing to another. "I'm grateful that I could just finish, particularly with the brake issue I had, and bag those points. We're really in need of an upgrade, and there's lots of things that need to change in order for us to compete at the front." The British driver finished a solid P6 during the race, though he was the seventh fastest car on track. He got bumped up one spot after McLaren driver Lando Norris made a desperate lunge and crashed out of the race. His first season at Ferrari is full of struggles, but the result in Canada can instill some worthwhile confidence back in Hamilton.

ATLANTA – Mansur Abdul-Malik thought he was getting his hand raised after a TKO finish of Cody Brundage, but was confused when the official result was announced. After two rounds of relatively routine action, Abdul-Malik (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Brundage (11-7 MMA, 5-6) flipped a switch and came out swinging furiously to start the final round. Abdul-Malik got the better of the heated exchanges, and put together a finishing sequence after leaping in with a knee to score what everyone believed initially was a TKO. However, after review, the result was changed to a technical decision because of an accidental clash of heads when Abdul-Malik leaped into Brundage with the knee. "I need to rewatch the fight, but most importantly, it wasn't intentional," Abdul-Malik told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight news conference. "Whatever happened, happened. The ending was the ending, and whatever logistics played out with it, that's the way it was. But I'm sure I did my job. It wasn't the most clean job in my eyes, but this is the game. "I came out with my hand raised, I showed something that I haven't showed before in that third round. Don't talk to me about cardio. Don't talk to me about wrestling. Don't talk to me about striking. Don't talk to me about grittyness or being young or inexpereinced. I showed something that I wasn't able to show before. I'm grateful. It is what it is." Since Brundage was unable to continue after the accidental foul, and the fight reached the third round, the rules state that the fight goes to the scorecards, including the judges determining who won the 36 seconds of fighting in the last round. "I thought it was a finish," Abdul-Malik said. "It looked like a finish. It felt like a finish. That wasn't an intentional headbutt. I didn't even know our heads clashed. Very, very confusing ending. I need to watch the fight back myself. It is what it is. In my eyes, it was a finish. I was on top throwing strikes, he was covered up." With his third UFC win in the books, Abdul-Malik hopes to get a few more fights in this calendar year – three if possible.

George Russell Proves His Mercedes Contract Should Already Be Signed

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. George Russell delivered an incredible drive for Mercedes at the Canadian Grand Prix, winning the race from pole position. Red Bull's Max Verstappen pushed Russell during the entire race, making the British driver earn the win. The race was tight throughout, with the gap between the top two staying within five seconds for most of the race. George Russell of Great Britain and Mercedes speaks in the FIA press conference following his race win during the F1 Grand Prix of Canada at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on June 15, 2025 in Montreal, Canada. Photo byRussell kept his cool and managed his tires well, leaving pace in the reserves while pumping out impressive laps. When Russell ran into lapped cars, the gap got tighter, but Verstappen never managed to get within DRS range of Russell. "Amazing day for the team," Russell told Nico Rosberg after the race. "The strength of our car is in these cooler conditions. We did have high expectations and it worked as we thought. Good day, good day.'" Sunday's win is a stunning result that highlights how amazing Russell has been this season, consistently outperforming expectations and putting together consistent race weekends. His performances are so good, in fact, that it makes Mercedes' decision to delay renewing Russell's contract baffling. What is George Russell's contract status? According to Spotrac, the 27-year-old driver earns $15 million this season, but he is a free agent after this season. His teammate, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, has a team option for the upcoming season, and given all of the resources that Mercedes invested in developing the Italian, the team is likely going to keep him for the foreseeable future. Antonelli reportedly makes $2 million this season and would make the same amount this upcoming season if his option is picked up. Other teams can open negotiations with Russell, though Mercedes partly represents Russell since he went through their academy, making those talks somewhat tricky. Why hasn't Russell signed a contract extension with Mercedes? Mercedes holds all of the cards in the negotiations, especially since all indications are that Russell is set on staying with the team. Team boss Toto Wolff is a fan of Russell, supporting the driver since he was a teenager. Reports indicate Wolff is also an admirer of Verstappen and would be willing to do anything to get his hands on the Dutch driver. Red Bull went through leadership turmoil last season, while Wolff made several comments about wanting to sign Verstappen. The move never materialized last season, but it could be possible that Wolff and Mercedes are waiting to see if another opportunity opens up. Russell's contract status will likely remain in limbo until Verstappen makes his plans for next season clear. If Verstappen does eye a move away from his current team, Russell might end up going to Red Bull, especially since there are few available top team race seats. Russell staying and signing a long-term deal is the likeliest outcome, but nothing is secure in Formula 1.
