Mohn had a USB device containing photos of federal buildings and apparent instructions for making explosives when arrested, authorities have said.

He also had expressed violent anti-government rhetoric in writings he published online, and the YouTube video included rants about the government, immigration and the border, fiscal policy, urban crime and the war in Ukraine.
Mohn's defense attorney, Steven M. Jones, said last week he did not anticipate the case being resolved with a plea deal.

Michael Mohn, who was 68, had been an engineer with the geoenvironmental section of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In the video, Justin Mohn described his father as a 20-year federal employee and called him a traitor.
During a competency hearing last year, a defense expert said Mohn wrote a letter to Russia's ambassador to the United States seeking a deal to give Mohn refuge and apologizing to President Vladimir Putin for claiming to be the czar of Russia.

LA mayor signs executive order supporting immigrants amid federal raids
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) signed an executive order Friday affirming the city's support for immigrants amid an enforcement crackdown by the Trump administration. 'Under my new Executive Order, I am submitting a request under the Freedom of Information Act about when and where enforcement activities have taken place in LA, the identities of individuals and reason they were arrested or detained,' Bass wrote in a Friday post on social platform X. 'We will also be requesting information exposing how much these raids cost taxpayers nationwide,' she added. The order directs departments to deliver preparedness plans for immigration enforcement within two weeks and establish a working group with local police, the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, immigrant rights organizations and community leaders to gather feedback and additional guidance on responses to federal authorities. 'We are a proud city of immigrants, and with the Trump Administration signaling that they will ratchet up their chaotic approach, I'm making sure we deploy every resource and tool available within the City to ensure that we are supporting immigrant communities,' Bass said. 'We will continue pursuing legal relief through the courts, and I am issuing orders to all General Managers to bolster their response and support for immigrant communities. I will never accept these unlawful and chaotic raids and will continue to do all that I can to defend the rights of the people of Los Angeles.' The new measure comes one day after the city formally joined a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding immigration raids in the area. Large groups of residents gathered to protest June raids that resulted in the detainment of dozens, including a local labor union president. The self-proclaimed 'King of All Pimps' who took credit for recruiting Ashley Dupré, the hooker whose tryst with then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer ended the 'Luv Guv's' career, has been cleared of criminal charges in a long-running spat with a fellow social media personality. Now a foul-mouthed live streamer who goes by the online name 'MrBased,' Jason Itzler was facing harassment, criminal contempt and making a terroristic threat charges in two pending Brooklyn cases for allegedly threatening YouTuber Alex Novell and violating an order to stay away from him. This week, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office dropped the charges against Itzler, 58, who has 170,000 TikTok followers and an audience of 151,000 on Instagram, his attorney, Mark Bederow, said. Man who beheaded father and displayed head on YouTube sentenced to life
A Pennsylvania man who beheaded his father and then displayed the severed head in a video he uploaded to YouTube was convicted Friday on murder and terrorism charges and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Justin Mohn, 33, was found guilty of shooting his 68-year-old father, Michael Mohn, a federal employee, and then decapitating him at their suburban home on Jan. 30, 2024, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said in a statement.
