2 dead, 6 wounded in mass shooting in downtown L.A. after music festival
About 11 p.m., a 'big party' was shut down in the 1100 block of 14th Place after officers saw a person possibly armed with a gun go inside the location, said Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman. That person was arrested at the scene, she said.
The party had been promoted on social media as an after-party for the Hard Summer music festival, a house- and techno-music festival, taking place over the weekend at Hollywood Park, next to SoFi Stadium, according to KTLA.
Sometime after the party was broken up, officers were dispatched back to the area after reports of gunfire and found eight people shot, Eisenman said.
One man was declared dead at the scene and seven others were taken to the hospital, where a woman succumbed to her injuries.
No arrests have been made and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Teen detained after other juvenile has bottle broken over head during fight at closed park
Two teenagers were hospitalized, including one who had a bottle broken over their head, when a fight broke out during a gathering at a park in Santa Clarita, authorities said. Per the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the group of teenagers began gathering at Pacific Crest Park, located along Garnet Canyon Drive and adjacent to Mountainview Elementary School, late Saturday night. 'A 911 call came out from residents in the area just before 11 p.m.,' a department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA. Pacific Crest Park closes at 10:30 p.m. every night. Shooting reported at large house party near USC campus It was said by LASD that sometime during the gathering, a fight broke out, leading to a male juvenile being detained for smashing a bottle over someone else's head. That victim was taken to a hospital with injuries described as 'non-life-threatening' by deputies. Another juvenile was transported with unspecified injuries. Video obtained by KTLA shows deputies detaining the male juvenile at gunpoint and being placed into the back of a squad car near the entrance to an In-N-Out drive-thru. LASD did not explicitly state how or when he got there. Woman mauled to death by dogs near Southern California park Further footage from the scene shows deputies detaining the teenager and questioning multiple others about what transpired in front of a swing set at the park. A broken bottle and several other alcoholic beverages were seen scattered in the grass and on the curb. There is video circulating on social media that shows the alleged incident. (Warning: The video contains profanity and may be hard for some to watch.) The post caption claims local homeowners are 'frustrated by months of lawlessness' at the park. No further information on the altercation, victims or detainee was immediately provided by law enforcement. This is the second incident involving a large group of teens getting into a fight in as many days; several juveniles were injured in an altercation outside a movie theater in Simi Valley just after midnight Friday, police there said. An adult was also hurt. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. Solve the daily Crossword

According to authorities, a second victim – an unidentified 52-year-old woman – was shot and took herself to the hospital before later succumbing to her wounds. Six other victims aging 26-62 are currently in the hospital suffering injuries. Two remain in critical condition while the other four are stable. The LAPD is investigating the shooting as gang-related. Police shut down the event and arrested the man, but two hours later more than a dozen shots were reported fired back at the same location. A flier for the event first shared by Fox News advertised it as an 'unofficial' HARD after party called Way After You Go. It began at 10 p.m. and was scheduled to operate into the late night. Upwards of 60 people remained gathered at an intersection near where the warehouse after party was originally shut down. When police returned they found a number of victims suffering from gunshot wounds. LAPD continues to investigate the shooting.
