Pakistan Name Squad For Bangladesh T20Is; Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf Miss Out: Check Whos IN, Whos OUT
Former mainstays, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are among the notable absentees from the squad, which will be led by Salman Ali Agha. Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman are back in the T20I setup. While Ashraf last featured in a T20I contest back in 2023 against New Zealand, Zaman's previous appearance in the format came in 2024.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Daniyal has earned a maiden call-up in the national squad on the back of impressive performance in PSL 2025.
On the other hand, pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are still recovering from their respective injuries while Haris Rauf misses out having just picked up an injury while playing in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 in the USA.
All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has returned to the setup, with his last appearance in the format coming in January 2024. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed Haris, who smashed a stylish unbeaten century against Bangladesh in the last of the three T20Is, will continue to occupy the No.3 position.
The two teams faced each other in Pakistan in a three-T20I series a couple of weeks ago, which Pakistan comfortably swept by a 3-0 margin. Bangladesh are currently competing in a three-match ODI assignment against Sri Lanka, following which they play three more T20Is before travelling back home for the Pakistan series.

The Indo-Pak Asia Cup 2025 fixture on 14 September has drawn severe backlash from fans in India, with several former cricketers asking the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to boycott the clash. Ever since the Asia Cup 2025 schedule was announced last month, calls for boycotting the India vs Pakistan clash grew stronger in the light of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Although BCCI is the official host of the Asia Cup 2025, the tournament was shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after India and Pakistan mutually agreed to play at neutral venues until 2027 due to their diplomatic disagreements. Speaking on the IND vs PAK issue for the first time, the legendary Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram, opined that the 'game must go on'. The left-arm pacer opined that India may be facing social media backlash over the fixture, but everything is 'calm' and 'fine' in Pakistan. 'The Asia Cup schedule has been announced. Let's see what happens. They are probably getting a backlash. But in Pakistan, we are okay. We are actually calm. 'We are fine if we play or if we don't play. The game must go on,' Akram said on the Stick With Cricket podcast, hosted by former England cricketers Phil Tufnell, Sir Alastair Cook, David Lloyd and Michael Vaughan. Akram also hoped to see a bilateral Test series between India and Pakistan in his lifetime. India and Pakistan have not played any sort of bilateral series since 2012. The last Test match between India and Pakistan took place in 2007 in Bengaluru, which ended in a draw. 'I hope so,' said Akram when asked about an India vs Pakistan Test series. 'But I think Indians will probably take a different take on it. But in my opinion, politics apart, we are not politicians; I am not a politician. They are patriotic about their country; we are patriotic about our country. Let's not go below the belt,' added Akram, who took 916 international wickets (414 wickets in 104 Tests and 502 in 356 ODIs)

District-level sports meet for persons with disabilities held
Madurai: A district-level athletic meet, titled Limitless 2025, for differently-abled people was organised at Dr MGR Stadium on Tuesday, in which nearly 350 participated. Participants competed across seven disability categories, including visually impaired, amputees, wheelchair users, intellectually disabled, dwarfs, cerebral palsy, and hearing-impaired students. They competed in an array of track and field events such as long jump, shot put, discus, and javelin throw. Track races included 50m, 100m, and 400m sprints. Seventy-eight gold, 78 silver, and 78 bronze medals were distributed among winners. All participants received a certificate of recognition. "These young athletes remind us that determination defines ability," said Dr Sathish Devadoss, vice-chairman, Devadoss Hospitals. Jerlin Anika, Arjuna awardee and Deaflympic badminton gold medallist, was the guest of honour. The event was organised by the Madurai Ladies Circle No. 8 (MLC) in association with Devadoss Hospital. After Asia Cup Snub, Babar Azam And Mohammad Rizwan Now Handed 'Central Contracts' Blow
Former captain Babar Azam and current ODI skipper Mohammed Rizwan have been downgraded to category 'B' in the latest list of central contracts released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday. The PCB, in fact, has not found any cricketer fit to be in the elite category and has placed 30 players in Category 'B', 'C' and 'D'. "The contracts, effective from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, reflect the Board's continued commitment to recognising and supporting national talent. This year's roster sees ten players each placed in Categories B, C, and D. Notably, no player has been selected for Category A in this cycle," PCB stated in a media release. The PCB release doesn't mention the valuation of the contracts. Babar and Rizwan have been penalised for their consistently poor show across all marquee events, including last year's T20 World Cup, this year's ICC Champions Trophy, and the bilaterals against Bangladesh and the West Indies. T20 skipper Salman Ali Agha, on the other hand, has earned a promotion from group C to B. The other notable promotions are opener Saim Ayub and pacer Haris Rauf. Compared to last year's list of 27 contracted players, the PCB has expanded the pool to 30, including 12 fresh additions. The new entrants are Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza and Sufyan Moqim. Additionally, nine players have retained their positions in the same categories. They are Abdullah Shafique (Category C), Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jnr – all in Category D, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel – all in Category C and Shaheen Shah Afridi (Category B).
