Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki joins Hilton's Tapestry Collection

The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki has joined Hilton's Tapestry Collection. It is Tapestry's first Hawaii hotel. The 368-room hotel, which is managed by Highgate, previously operated as the Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador. Concurrent with its reflagging, the hotel underwent a renovation. The hotel's refreshed interiors feature a tropical-inspired color palette as well as midcentury design elements that pay homage to its 1960s origins. The Ambassador offers a variety of accommodations, including two-bedroom suites and lofted bunk-bed rooms designed for families and groups. The hotel is home to the Waikiki Swim & Social Club, which offers a pool and cabana deck, and the Favorite Son restaurant, a casual-dining concept with indoor-outdoor seating. Guests have access to fitness facilities, bike rentals and beach equipment. Rates at the revamped property start at $159 per night, with Hawaii residents receiving a 25% discount. The Tapestry Collection now has close to 160 hotels and resorts.

Hotels Shrug Off Airbnb's Push Into Experiences – But They Still Need to Compete

Airbnb's relaunch of its Experiences platform and new offering of hotel-style à la carte services might pressure hoteliers. But so far, many hotel execs seem unfazed. Airbnb's entry into selling experiences and hotel-style services is drawing a muted response from some hospitality industry leaders. A few have minimized the threat, though some analysts warn that hotel companies risk falling behind in the race to capture lucrative ancillary revenue. Airbnb aims to offer a marketplace for a range of services, including massage‬‭, spa treatments‬‭, and personal training. These are offerings expected at many hotels but not short-term rentals - "We're eliminating reasons why people wouldn't want to stay in an Airbnb,' the company's chief business officer Dave Stephenson told Skift in May shortly after unveiling the new products. One challenge will be delivering consistent quality. "They've gone on this journey before, and what they're trying to do is really difficult," said Chris Silcock, president of global brands and commercial services at Hilton. Silcock said Hilton isn't rushing to copy Airbnb's marketplace model. "We haven't gone down that route because we're in hospitality, the business of people serving people, and that's much easier to do in a building where we can guarantee a flow of customers and when we can meet or hire or contract with people to deliver the quali

Hilton announces 19 new Hilton Garden Inn signings across Greater China

Hilton is set to accelerate its expansion in Greater China with 19 new Hilton Garden Inn property signings, announced at the 2025 Hilton Garden Inn Investment Summit. These projects were signed in markets such as Xining, Weihai, Changbai Mountain, and Yiwu, and underscore the company's commitment to leading the upscale focused-service segment in Asia, particularly in key cities and high-potential cultural tourism. The expansion is part of a strategic move to triple Hilton's focused-service presence in the continent, following the recent announcement of three new properties in Southeast Asia. With more than 130 Hilton Garden Inn hotels already operating in the Asia Pacific region, the brand continues to draw investor interest through its design prototype, tailored offerings, and flexible franchising and management agreement options. Hilton Asia Pacific development senior vice-president Clarence Tan said: 'This wave of signings, including entries into key destinations, marks a milestone in Hilton's regional expansion. 'Targeting core urban centres and high-potential cultural and tourism destinations deepens our network in China as we aim to serve ever more business and leisure travellers. Hilton Garden Inn now has more than 115 trading properties in China, and we are poised to grow rapidly with another 185 in the pipeline.' In addition to the new signings, Hilton has announced the official opening of its first Hilton Garden Inn · Gen A hotels in several cities, including Sanya, Chongqing and Harbin. Introduced last year, the Gen A prototype is developed for the Chinese market specifically to meet the modern traveller's needs. The Hilton Garden Inn Chongqing Yubei Central Park features 276 guest rooms and suites and is one of the first properties to showcase the new design philosophy. The new generation of Hilton Garden Inn properties in Sanya and Harbin are also designed to reflect urban vitality. Last month, Hilton unveiled plans to introduce the Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand to Tobago with the signing of Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago.
