Corey Conners (wrist) WDs from Travelers Championship
June 17 - Corey Conners withdrew from the Travelers Championship on Tuesday, two days after he bowed out of the U.S. Open prior to the final round due to a right wrist injury.
PGA Tour Communications said Jhonattan Vegas will replace Conners, who initially sustained the injury in the first round on Thursday at Oakmont Country Club outside Pittsburgh.
Conners aggravated the injury on Saturday while hitting his ball out of a lie on the greenside bunker on the 11th hole.
The 33-year-old Canadian has two career wins on the PGA Tour and is 24th in the Official World Golf Ranking. He recorded a top-10 finish at the 2023 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn.

'We're definitely going to be keen to try and play if they allow us to and if they want us to,' he said. 'If that's an option, then we'll definitely be up for it.' Sixteen teams have signed up with the top eight with the best combined singles ranking guaranteed a place along with eight wildcard entries. Kyrgios and Osaka would need a wildcard, being ranked 633rd and 57th respectively, but given the revamp is aimed at attracting more fans, viewers and sponsors there is little doubt such a high-profile duo would get one. 'Seeing the teams that have already put their names on the entry list makes us all incredibly excited,' US Tennis Association CEO Lew Sherr said. 'It shows that the players are behind what we are trying to do, and we know that the fans will love it.' The attraction for many singles players is the shortened format and the timing, the event being played in the 'Fan Week' before the main draw. Most matches will be best-of-three sets played to four games instead of six, with a deciding point played at deuce. Tiebreakers would be at 4-4, while a first-to-10-points match tiebreaker would replace a third set. The final would be played to six games but still with no-advantage scoring and a 10-point match tiebreaker. This format, the selection criteria and the clash with singles qualifying, are reasons why established doubles players were unhappy. 'Tell us that you think doubles players are trash, that tradition is overrated and job opportunity is a thing of the past without actually saying it,' Perez, a players' council representative, posted on X at the time of announcement. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who have entered but will need a wildcard given their singles rankings, said the changes were a 'profound injustice' that disrespects doubles players, describing the new event as a 'pseudo-exhibition focused only on entertainment and show'. 'Making decisions just following the logic of profit is profoundly wrong in some situations,' they added.

Javier Baez hits two HRs as Tigers knock off Pirates
June 18 - Javier Baez hit a pair of solo home runs and the host Detroit Tigers downed the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 on Tuesday. Baez's power display made a winner of Casey Mize, who allowed three runs (two earned) and five hits in six innings. Chase Lee, Tommy Kahnle and Brenan Hanifee each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for Detroit, which had lost its last two games. Riley Greene and Wenceel Perez blasted two-run homers and Perez also supplied a run-scoring triple. Alexander Canario had a two-run single for Pittsburgh. Canario replaced Bryan Reynolds, who left the game in the second inning when his wife went into labor. Starter Bailey Falter gave up three runs and five hits in five innings. Pittsburgh has lost four of its last five games. The Pirates scored an unearned run in the second. Spencer Horwitz led off with a single and moved to third on an error by shortstop Baez. Adam Frazier's groundout brought him in. Detroit scored in the bottom of the inning. Spencer Torkelson led off with a double and Perez followed with his two-run homer, lofting a Falter fastball over the left field wall. Isiah Kiner-Falefa's leadoff single in the third sparked Pittsburgh's two-run inning. As well as 'AlcaRad', Sinner will play with American Emma Navarro while other pairs include women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka and Grigor Dimitrov, Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic and fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic and off-court partners Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The event will take place on August 19 and 20, with the winners scooping a prize pot of one million US dollars (approximately £750,000). Not all the pairs announced on Tuesday might make the cut, with entries open until July 28. The top eight teams with the best combined singles ranking – which currently would not include Raducanu and Alcaraz – will qualify directly, with eight further teams given wildcard spots.
