Even as a foldable skeptic, I can't recommend the Pixel 9 Pro Fold strongly enough at $700 off

Look, we've had a good run, bravely resisting the foldable "fad" until... it became clear for everyone that these devices are indeed here to stay for years and years to come, but now the time has arrived to surrender to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. $700 off (39%) 5G, Unlocked, 256GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Google Tensor G4 Processor, Android 15, Gemini, 8-Inch Foldable LTPO OLED Display with 2152 x 2076 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 6.3-Inch OLED Cover Screen with 2424 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate, 48 + 10.8 + 10.5MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 10MP Front-Facing Camera, 10MP Cover Camera, 4,650mAh Battery, Obsidian Color Buy at BestBuy That's because Best Buy is now selling the unlocked Pixel 9 Pro Fold with 256GB storage at a simply mind-blowing $700 discount. There are no special requirements, no strings attached, no obligatory upfront activation on any specific US carriers, and to put that number in perspective, the non-foldable Pixel 9 Pro powerhouse currently costs $699. So, yes, you can save the full price of an excellent Google-made device while buying another undeniably powerful, eye-catching, and exceptionally well-reviewed handset. Our in-depth Pixel 9 Pro Fold review, by the way, highlighted a level of functionality, a premium build quality, and a refined design that I never thought would be possible (certainly not so soon) when the deeply flawed first-gen Samsung Galaxy Fold burst onto the scene back in 2019. Of course, Google waited until 2023 to throw its hat in the ring with a surprisingly solid but far from perfect Pixel Fold, and while this second-gen device we're talking about here today is not flawless either, it's definitely moving in the right direction, especially at a lower-than-ever price of $1,099. This is not the world's thinnest foldable device, but it will feel premium in your hand. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena That's obviously not conventionally affordable territory, but you have to remember that this is a product that essentially takes the 6.3-inch screen of the aforementioned Pixel 9 Pro and makes it play second fiddle to a ginormous 8-inch primary display. Now, you wouldn't expect to pay 700 bucks for that, would you? Certainly not when the bendy flagship also comes with five different cameras that are currently making me drool in five different ways over my keyboard, as well as a large... enough 4,650mAh battery, a whopping 16GB RAM paired with that aforementioned 256 gigs of internal storage space, and absolutely unrivaled long-term software support. And yes, I realize an improved Pixel 10 Pro Fold with an even bigger battery is literally 24 hours away from an official announcement, but I hope you also realize that thing's commercial release is not exactly around the corner. Good news everyone! Over the past year we've been working on an exciting passion project of ours and we're thrilled to announce it will be ready to release in just a few short months. This $1,200 'pocket computer' from 2005 was the foldable of its time

Two decades ago, life and technology felt simpler and more innocent, naive even, but in a heartwarming way. Most of us had way fewer responsibilities than we do today, and phones were still in their golden age. It was Nokia that ruled the regular phone landscape, yet the smartphone space was still the Wild West. Behind closed doors, Android and iOS were both being conceptualized, and we were constantly redefining what a smartphone should be. One of those twenty-year-old smartphones, the cool-sounding HTC Universal (also known as the Qtek 9000), was the lovechild of two iconic tech companies, and it definitely screams 2005 in every way possible. It's also included in our upcoming "Iconic Phones" book, which would sit nicely on your coffee table. JOIN THE WAITLIST TO GET EARLY BIRD DISCOUNTS HERE Actually, calling the HTC Universal a "smartphone" is selling it short, as this device was marketed as a "pocket computer" by both HTC and Microsoft, as it looked the part and featured Windows Mobile 5.0 with multiple desktop PC-grade apps on board. The HTC Universal featured a full QWERTY keyboard, a large-for-the-time swiveling screen (one of its coolest features), and some pretty impressive internals like a 520MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM. It was also the first phone that had a dedicated front camera for 3G video calls. That's an essential and boring feature these days, but back in the day, video calls on a pocket-sized device felt like a cutting-edge novelty or a glimpse into the future for most people. The device also had a chockful of extra ports, buttons, and connectivity standards, which was the norm back in the day. It had a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack, an infrared port for data transfer, many physical buttons for answering and hanging up phone calls and messaging, a camera shutter key, and even a volume slider button. The Universal also had a full-sized SD card slot, a stylus, and even a physical reset button! Another feature that feels awkwardly familiar is the price tag. Back in 2005, the HTC Universal cost $1,200 at launch, which is around $2,000 today when adjusted for inflation. That's what a decent modern foldable phone costs nowadays. If you've ever been as fascinated by the legendary devices from the golden age of mobile phones as much as we are, then our upcoming "Iconic Phones" table book will be a nostalgic deep dive into the world of classic tech. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is getting a massive screen upgrade – with one clever catch

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is shaping up to be a performance powerhouse, based on rumors and leaks that have been circulating online over the past month or so. Alongside many cool changes that seem to be in the books for the new premium phone by Samsung, the company is also reportedly planning to introduce a new OLED display technology that may rely on AI to help protect your privacy. The tech is said to be developed by Samsung Display, called Flex Magic Pixel. This technology was already showcased at MWC and at the K-Display 2025 event this year by the South Korean tech giant. Now, the latest media reports coming from Samsung's home country indicate that the Flex Magic Pixel technology is now entering full-scale mass production. This could mean that the tech could be planned for the Galaxy S26 Ultra , and potentially for the foldable phones in 2026 by the company. Basically, this display tech uses AI to control individual OLED panels and adjust viewing angles, which is frankly probably one of the more purposeful uses of AI. For example, if you open a bank app on your Galaxy S25 Ultra (obviously, bank apps have sensitive info), the AI may adjust the pixels automatically, thus restricting viewing angles. Almost how a privacy protector for your display works. People standing next to you or on the side may see dark on your screen instead of the display and its contents. With one bonus, though - usually these privacy screen protectors come with a trade-off. They negatively impact display quality and brightness, compromises that some people make against peeking at their displays. With Flex Magic Pixel, the benefits of privacy protection are there, while at the same time, the display's full capabilities in brightness and quality are not compromised. If these rumors are true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have one unique feature that other Android flagships don't boast with. For one, the branding may be revamped, according to rumors. The entry-level model in the Galaxy S26 series may instead be called the Galaxy S26 Pro. On the other hand, the Plus model in the lineup may get replaced by an ultra-thin Galaxy S26 Edge (or Galaxy S26 Air), and the third, most powerful and bad-ass model will reportedly be the Galaxy S26 Ultra . Rumors about the Galaxy S26 Ultra have been very positive lately, so hopes are up for Samsung's next flagship phone. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with faster RAM than its predecessor, and also feature (finally) increased fast charging speeds for your convenience. Also, a huge camera upgrade is expected for the Galaxy S26 Ultra , an improvement for low-light photography with an f/1.4 aperture. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will face the likes of the yet-unannounced (but coming very soon) iPhone 17 Pro Max in the battle for the best flagship of 2026. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to come with a big redesign this year, if all the leaks are to be believed, featuring a new look for its camera island and, reportedly, a bigger battery. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will also have to face the iPhone 18 next year in the fall. I personally think that this upgrade to its display is yet another reason to get excited about the 2026 premium Galaxy phone. At the end of the day, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is starting to sound like a really solid upgrade. You've got faster performance, better cameras, quicker charging, and now even a display that can protect your privacy without messing up the picture. If Samsung really pulls this off, the Ultra could be one of the most exciting phones to drop in 2026. Honestly, I'm pretty hyped for it.
