Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled a new trailer and poster for Superman, the highly anticipated film reboot written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn. Scheduled for release on July 11, the film marks the first feature in Gunn's reimagined DC Universe and the first solo Superman film in over a decade.
David Corenswet takes on the dual role of Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan starring opposite him as intrepid journalist Lois Lane. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
The new trailer showcases a Superman who embodies compassion and moral clarity, stopping a war single-handedly before facing arrest—highlighting the internal and external conflicts that define the character. Gunn's signature mix of action, humour, and emotional depth is front and center, offering audiences a fresh take on the legendary hero while staying grounded in the character's core values.
Rachel Brosnahan, speaking to Variety at the 2024 SAG Awards, expressed enthusiasm for playing Lois Lane. 'She's smart, ambitious and can be funny,' said Brosnahan. 'She knows she's the smartest person in the room more often than not.'
Superman is produced by Gunn and Peter Safran and based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film also features Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell in supporting roles.
Behind the scenes, Gunn collaborates with key creatives including cinematographer Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composer John Murphy. Editing is handled by Craig Alpert, Jason Ballantine, and William Hoy.
The trailer follows the record-setting first look released in December 2023, which drew over 250 million views online—making it the most-watched DC trailer to date.

James Gunn addresses Superman and Fantastic Four fan rivalry ahead of July box office showdown
As excitement builds for two major superhero films hitting theaters this July—DC's Superman and Marvel's Fantastic Four—DC Studios co-head James Gunn has stepped in to ease rising tensions among fans. On Threads, Gunn responded to a fan question about Marvel's Fantastic Four by emphasizing unity rather than rivalry. 'They come out two weeks after us – there's room for us both! I love my friends at Marvel,' Gunn wrote. 'I'd focus on all the positivity around the films instead of getting sucked up in online fan wars.' The release timing has sparked comparisons, with Superman set to premiere on July 11 and Fantastic Four following on July 25. Gunn's remarks aim to refocus attention on the films themselves rather than encourage franchise competition. Though now a key figure at DC, Gunn has deep ties to Marvel. He wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, produced Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and contributed to several Marvel projects over the past decade. His support for Marvel comes from long-standing relationships with the studio and its creators. Adding to the competitive summer box office, Jurassic World Rebirth will debut earlier on July 2. The film features Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali and is directed by Gareth Edwards. Gunn's Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult also leading the cast. Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman, stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. While online chatter may fuel a Marvel vs. DC narrative, Gunn encourages fans to embrace the blockbuster season for what it is—a celebration of superheroes on all fronts.
