Codie Owen, who Phil classes as his sister after they grew up together, bravely managed to get two of her young children outside the property in Stockport, Gtr Manchester.
She then returned into the house to rescue her third child.
The fire brigade attended the blaze at the property near Stockport County's stadium and spent more than two hours putting it out.
Codie and her children were all taken to Stepping Hill hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.
The fire is believed to have been started by a faulty extractor fan in the upstairs bathroom.
A source said: 'Phil was really upset when he heard what had happened.
"He is really really close to Codie.
'They are best pals and spent loads of time together as children. He regards her as a sister and dotes on her children.
'He's now helping her find alternative accommodation as she can't return to the house for a while due to the smoke damage.'
In 2021 Codie posted a touching tribute to Phil on her Facebook page, adding: 'We are so proud of you'.

And in 2018 she posted another Selfie of Phil with her and her son, adding: 'Big happy 18th birthday to my rondog.'
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: 'At 1.20am on Friday 2 May, three fire engines attended a house fire in Edgeley, Stockport.
"The fire was on the first floor, and crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan to tackle it.
'One adult and three children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
"Crews were in attendance for two hours.'
Foden's agent was approached for comment.
Earlier this month, the Prem star was pictured getting kitted out in full Burberry.
Foden promoted the designer brand with snaps of himself in jacket, shorts and trainers at one the label's upmarket shops.
Last month, The Sun revealed Foden went to take his mind off football by going on a fishing trip.
The ace held up a beauty caught on a trip with the team from Manchester-based Carp Fever.

Sam Thompson gives health update ahead of Soccer Aid clash with ex Zara McDermott's new man
SAM Thompson has given a health update ahead of his Soccer Aid clash with ex Zara McDermott's new man. The I'm A Celeb king, 34, raised more than £1.5m for Unicef by running and biking 260 miles from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea, to Old Trafford, Manchester, where the game will be played at the weekend. 6 6 6 But Sam has since revealed tat his Soccer Aid appearance is hanging in the balance as he continues to recover from his gruelling charity run. Now, in a new health update, Sam said: ' 'Trying to get those legs right for soccer aid!! I WILL play a part [laughing face emoji].' He could be seen standing in an ice bath in his post shared to fans, and held onto the sides while grimacing. The star seemed to suggest that he will be doing all he can from now until Soccer Aid, to make sure he can be a part of the day. The former Made In Chelsea star is set to come face-to-face with ex girlfriend Zara's new man, One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, if he takes part. Both Sam and Louis will be playing for England, which they have done in previous years. It follows another recent update from the star, while speaking on Hits Radio. He said his body is still suffering, and explained: 'I am so tired but elated. I'm so glad we got it done… "Never again [am I getting on a bike] I think I'm prone to saddle issues! After day one I still to this point can't feel bits of my privates. I'm being deadly serious! "The bike is a wild thing, Tracey who was with me going up these hills when we were skirting round the edge of Wales, that was mad and you're just going so slowly and you feel like your bike is going to topple over! I did think to myself this is the first time I've ridden a bike in so long..." Detailing how adapting for one leg issue has aggravated others, Sam continued: "Because I was running in a different way my shin was really inflamed so I couldn't even run on my tiptoes so I was running side to side. "I describe it as plugging holes, so like the calf tears so that's one hole you've got to plug so then I run on my tiptoes with my leg straight. "OK well that then messes up my ankle ligaments because everything is running through your ankle; then your ankle ligament explodes so then you can't do that... you're trying to play chess against yourself, whilst trying not to panic because I can't move my leg and it's still pretty bad." Though it's up in the air if he'll be fit in time to step onto the pitch at the weekend, Sam is still going to be a presence at training sessions in the build up under the care of Gary the physio. He said: "I'm just going to go lie on his bed every single day and get a rub down...!" Sam cuddled his sister Louise after finishing the challenge but his girlfriend Samie Elishi wasn't in attendance. He also received a phone call from Orlando Bloom in the This Morning studio who congratulated him on the superhuman effort. Chris Hughes, Ryan Libbey and Josh Patterson were all on hand at various points of the challenge to offer support. 6 6 6

Kyle Walker on verge of completing perfect England centurion XI – but Trent and Man City limbo put 100th cap at threat
Scroll down to see the full XI WALKING AMONG ICONS Kyle Walker on verge of completing perfect England centurion XI – but Trent and Man City limbo put 100th cap at threat Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) KYLE WALKER may have had a shocker against Senegal - but he is now just four caps away from completing England's perfect centurion XI. The Manchester City veteran struggled badly on his 96th cap in Tuesday's 3-1 friendly defeat at the City Ground, which was our first-ever loss to an African nation. And should he manage to dust himself down and convince the German of giving him the quartet needed to reach a century, he will be the eleventh player in Three Lions history to make it to triple figures. And in a coincidental twist of fate, if Walker does hit 100 then he would be the final piece in the jigsaw to complete a tonne-up team. In goal is our nation's record appearance-maker Peter Shilton on 125 games. In central defence, World Cup-winning captain Bobby Moore (108) lines up alongside Billy Wright. The latter was a one-club man for Wolves just after the war and became the first player in world football to reach 100 caps for his country, ending on 105 in 1959. Playing out wide left in a 4-4-2 formation is the late Sir Bobby Charlton, who netted a stunning 49 goals in 106 caps, winning our only World Cup in 1966. 8 Bobby Moore would play centre-back after leading England to World Cup glory in 1966 Credit: Getty 8 Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard would partner each other in central midfield Credit: Getty 8 Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane lead the line Credit: Getty CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS On the right wing is ex-captain David Beckham, who The Sun exclusively revealed will be knighted in the King's upcoming Birthday Honours List, on 115. In the middle is Steven Gerrard (114) and Frank Lampard (106), trying to ignore the old debate of whether they could actually play together as a midfield pairing. Roy Keane slams 'LAZY' Kyle Walker for role in Senegal goal vs England as ITV star says 'can't make mistakes like that' Up top are our two greatest goalscorers - and arguably two best strikers, though Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker and Jimmy Greaves may have something to say about that. Harry Kane leads the line, having blasted an astonishing 73 goals in 107 caps, with his latest of each coming against the Senegalese. Wayne Rooney, whose goals record Kane surpassed two years ago, completes the awesome line-up thanks to 53 goals in 120 caps. Only three England bosses made it to 100 games in charge, including the first two, Walter Winterbottom (139), Sir Alf Ramsey (113) and, years later, Sir Gareth Southgate (102). Walker, 35, is desperate to make it to 100 caps. After winning his 80th in a 2-0 win over Malta in November 2023, he said: 'That's one of my big objectives. 'There are very few players that are in that bracket and have made it to the 100 club. 'If I can do that I'll be over the moon and delighted from when I first started in 2011 when I got my first call-up under (Fabio) Capello.' 8 Walker could complete his century before the year is out, with England having six World Cup qualifiers between September and October. But given the level of competition at full-back, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James and Tino Livramento, and Walker seemingly having no future at City, it is by no means a given he will do it. Walker also seems in limbo club-wise, with City not taking him to the Club World Cup and a return to AC Milan, where he spent the second half of the season on loan, looking off the cards. Tuchel feels the treble-winner's lack of recent action contributed to his dire display against the Senegalese where his touch was rusty and he looked uncharacteristically slow. But the former Chelsea boss remains a huge fan of Walker, which will give the full-back confidence his century dream can be realised. Asked why Walker deserved to play against Senegal in his post-match press conference, Tuchel said: 'Because it counts also what he did in the first camp. "His first two matches were good. He was a regular player at Milan and then broke his elbow. 'Once we saw him in camp, he trained at the highest level, I felt him very composed, very proud to be in the camp. "He took responsibility, he helped everyone out and pushed the standards and levels. I think he deserved to play. 'I see the lack of rhythm, clearly, the lack of rhythm in misjudgements and duels and anticipation, of course. 'That is also maybe the nature of a June camp and a player who does not have every minute in his legs lately and has struggled to come back because of injury and the contract situation when he was just on loan.' 8 Thomas Tuchel has backed Kyle Walker despite his poor performance against Senegal Credit: Alamy
