Coldplay CEO's ‘daughter' responds to scandal

Don't miss out on the headlines from Real Life. Followed categories will be added to My News.
A social media account claiming to be the daughter of Astronomer's ex-CEO Andy Bryon, who was caught on the Coldplay kiss-cam allegedly cheating, went viral over the weekend, pulling in millions of views before the truth emerged.
The account, calling itself ThatMarinagirll, launched just a day after the Bryon scandal hit headlines, claiming to be Marina Byron, the supposedly 23-year-old daughter dealing with her dad's very public affair.
It already has nearly 200k followers.
In her first clip, warming herself next to an open fire, Marina said she was 'reconnecting with life after your dad's affair makes national news'.
That video alone amassed 36 million views in a few days.
What followed was a steady stream of self-aware, tongue-in-cheek content, including mentions of family group chats and poking fun at rich-kid stereotypes.
One video responded to a comment that read: 'I don't feel bad for rich people,' while Marina ran around on the deck of a private yacht looking carefree.

Others showed screenshots of text exchanges between her and her friends, where they discussed the news.
'I thought it was your dad's doppelganger,' one of the friends says. Marina replies: 'I saw it early this morning … Lord help us'.
In another, Marina claims to be texting her mum, who is allegedly processing the news by doing breathwork and manifestation.
By the fourth video, the account was promoting a company called Triips, a discount travel website.
'Thanks for the $35 flight, I'm basically healed,' the caption read.

The videos were flooded with comments, split into three clear groups.
Some offered sympathy, others criticised her for 'capitalising' on her dad's cheating scandal, and some simply didn't believe any of it was real.
'This is honestly iconic. Making lemonade out of lemons,' said one.
'I'm so sorry that happened to you, your mum and family. Infidelity is traumatising for the whole family,' another commented.
'I hope you are healing in any way you can from all of this,' said a third.

But not everyone was buying it.
'Trying to go viral off your dad's affair is absolutely insane,' one blunt comment read.
'Wow, imagine using your dad's affair to get famous,' said someone else.
Then, scepticism began to surface.
'She isn't his child, y'all,' claimed one.
'It's giving ad,' wrote another. 'Impostor check,' added a third.
One account, LizTheMillennial, even created a video claiming the account was fake and that the profile was banning any comments that attempted to share the truth.
But people quickly began to grow sceptical of the account. Picture: TikTok/LizTheMillennial
So, does Andy Bryon have a daughter?
According to public records, Andy Bryon doesn't have a daughter.
Bryon and his wife Megan Kerrigan have two sons.
There's no mention of a daughter named Marina Bryon.
Up until the cheating scandal went viral, Kerrigan was posting happy family photos on Facebook, including their two sons.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk's xAI's bot Grok also fact-checked the claims on social media.
'Based on extensive review … there is no credible evidence of anyone named Marina being Andy Byron's daughter. Confirmed: He and his wife have two sons only. This claim seems baseless or mistaken,' Grok wrote on X.
Kerrigan hasn't made any formal comment about the scandal, but reportedly removed her married name from her Facebook last week and has since deleted her account.

Adding yet another twist, the videos on the Marina Bryon account were allegedly taken from the social media of a French model and singer-songwriter, Julie Tuzet.
Tuzet came forward over the weekend to clear her name.
'Guys, I am not the CEO's daughter. You probably saw this video of me at a fireplace reconnecting with nature. It's just someone who stole my videos and content from TikTok to create this fake news, and it's going viral,' she said in her own TikTok.

'Please help me report that person because she blocked me, so I can't report it. I also can't comment anything because she is checking each comment so they don't tag my real account.
'But stay safe, don't believe everything you see on the internet, and help me spread this news because it's wild.'
Once the alleged hoax was revealed, many viewers admitted to falling for it.
'Damn, I fell for it, thanks for the truth,' said one comment.
'Makes you really sit down and think what else is fake,' another mused.
Another said they felt like they 'got played'.

Astronomer HR chief resigns one week after being caught on Coldplay ‘kiss cam'

Astronomer's chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, has resigned a week after being caught on Coldplay's 'kiss cam' in an embrace with former Astronomer chief executive Andy Byron. In statements supplied to numerous media outlets in the United States, including Page Six and TMZ, a spokesperson for the New York-based company confirmed that Cabot, who joined its C-suite in late 2024, is 'no longer with Astronomer' and had 'resigned'. It comes days after Byron, who was appointed Astronomer's chief executive in 2023, resigned from his job leading the AI data orchestration software start-up. How 'Coldplaygate' unfolded It's usually an unremarkable segment of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres concerts, with frontman Chris Martin singing a line or two about the loved-up couples beamed up onto the Jumbotron by the band's 'kiss cam'. But when Byron, who was shown swaying to the music with his arms draped around Cabot at Gillette Stadium on the evening of July 16 (July 17 AEST), and the former HR executive realised they were on-screen, Byron quickly sunk to the floor, out of sight of the camera, while Cabot hid her face in her hands and turned around. 'The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.' Pete DeJoy, Astronomer interim chief executive Adding fuel to the fire was Martin's wry commentary from the stage, with the Yellow singer saying into the microphone: 'Oh, look at these two ... Either they're having an affair or they're very shy.' Both Byron and Cabot are believed to have been married to other people at the time, and neither Byron nor Cabot has publicly commented on the incident, their exits from Astronomer or the affair allegations. This masthead is not suggesting the allegations of an affair between Byron and Cabot are true, just that they have been made. No one could have predicted the sheer fervour with which the whole world would latch on to the seconds-long moment in Foxborough, Massachusetts that 28-year-old Grace Springer, from New Jersey, shared footage of on TikTok. It's been referenced beyond social media to Oasis concerts, comedy shows, breakfast television and sports games.

Who hasn't cheated? I have. So why do we mock the Coldplaygate couple?

Hands up, anyone who has never cheated in their life. At cards, on someone, whatever. Not many. Yeah, that checks out. Because we're human. Born to stuff up. My hand is down. I've been a cheater. The guilt I carried is gone, replaced by regret and gratitude that I learned a lot about the world and myself. And that I could absorb those lessons in private. It takes time to admit you did something shithouse. To work out what got you there, and no, the answer is rarely too many cocktails. That's probably just the tipping point. You need to go deep, be super honest. Which is why the global infamy of Jumbotrongate – the Astronomer colleagues Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot caught hugging on the big screen at a Coldplay concert – has made me reflect. Sure, and be briefly obsessed. I'm not nearly that good a person that I can't relish a gotcha moment. But what's still bugging me a week later isn't the alleged cheating or that a corporate guy is held to a higher standard of values than the US president. Loading It's the fake statement attributed to Byron's wife Megan that went viral. It channelled Xena: Warrior Princess crossed with Delta Goodrem energy. Along with a baffling reference to silk gloves, it declared, 'I am not spiralling. I am ascending.' Said nobody ever after learning their spouse took a side piece to hear Yellow live. Still, it was shared everywhere by people with big followings and platforms.
